Wanetta Seigfried
Wanetta J. Seigfried, 66, passed away on May 20, 2004, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Kalkaska.
Born on May 27, 1937, in Pontiac, she was the daughter of William and Alma (Fenningfdorf) Williams.
Wanetta was a resident of Kalkaska since 1984, moving from Madison Heights. She married Gerald D. Seigfried on May 2, 1991, in Traverse City. Wanetta was a member of Bear Lake Christian Church.
Surviving Wanetta is her husband, Gerald; children, David (Wendy) Nation of South Boardman, Dennis (Andrea) Nation of Rosland, Pa., and Denise McQueen of Kalkaska; her step-children, Larry Duane (Crystal) Seigfried of Kalkaska, Mary Sue (Joe) Peters of Shelby Township and April Renee Seigfried of Palmdale, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brothers, Harvey (Georgeann) Williams of Clawson and Herbert Williams of Kingsley; and sister, Violett Smith of Madison Heights.
The funeral was held on Saturday, May 22, at the Bear Lake Christian Church.
Arrangements were made by Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska.

Katherine H. Hunt
Katherine (Kate) H. Hunt, of Boyne City, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004.
She was born July 28, 1946, to Dorothy and William Musser of Mancelona. She graduated from Mancelona High School in 1964. She graduated from North Central Michigan College, obtaining an associate of science degree with high honors in 1975. She moved to Boyne City in 1972.
On Jan. 25, 1974, she married Robert (Bob) M. Hunt of East Jordan. Together they raised seven children and enjoyed spending time with their 11 grandchildren. Kate took pleasure in being outdoors and was an avid fisherwoman, spending many summers fishing and camping with her family. She loved everything outdoors, including mushrooming, gardening and picking berries. She was very active in Boyne City bowling leagues for 27 years. Music was a large influence throughout her life _ playing clarinet in her high school band and drums in a local variety band, the "Mountaineers," with her husband, Bob. She worked in the medical billing profession for 15 years, then took an early retirement to enjoy travel time and fishing with her husband. In the spring of 2003 they traveled extensively throughout the west. In September she was diagnosed with cancer. She demonstrated strength and fortitude during her fight, and was an inspiration to those who knew and loved her.
Kate is survived by her husband, Bob, and their seven children, Beverly Phillips and Toni Berry (Chip Witte), both from Boyne City, Rob Hunt of Traverse City, Cathy Hunt and Mark Berry, both from Cheboygan, Christy Berry of Grand Blanc, and Charlene (Matt) Leismer of Portland, Ore.; and 11 grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Doris (John) Underwood of Alba, William (Janet) Musser of Kingsley, Shirley (James) Webber of Kalkaska, Thomas (Spring) Musser of Norfolk, Va., Michael (Cathy) Musser of Mancelona; and 16 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one niece and one nephew.
In lieu of a funeral, friends and family are invited to celebrate Kate's life at Whiting County Park Hall in Boyne City on Sunday, June 13, from 1-5 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Little Traverse Bay, 416 Connable Ave., Petoskey, MI 49770, or the American Cancer Society.

Peggy Brady Feucht
Peggy Brady Feucht, 80, of Bellaire died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility.
She was born May 3, 1924, in Los Angeles, Calif., the daughter of Carl and Olive (Wilson) Brady.
She was a resident of Bellaire since January of 2003. Prior to moving to Bellaire she resided in Denver, Colo.
In 1974 she married Robert Feucht who preceded her in death in 1995. Also preceding her in death were her sister Betty Newton and her parents.
Surviving are a nephew Dan (Connie) Newton of Central Lake; two nieces, Jody Rascon of Central Lake, Lorie (Jeff) Cocking of California; and several great nieces and nephews
Private family services will be held.
Arrangements are being handled by the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes

Justin Paul Lowe
Justin Paul Lowe, 37, of Bellaire died suddenly, Thursday, May 27, 2004, in Charlevoix.
He was born Aug. 2, 1966, in Petoskey, the son of Jack and Shirley (McLellan) Lowe.
Justin graduated from Bellaire High School in 1984 and served in the United States Air Force from 1984 to 1988. He worked for the Manthei Corp. of Charlevoix as a truck driver.
On March 23, 1991, he married Catherine Tipton, who survives. He is also survived by his sons, Nathan Paul and Nicholas Jack, both at home; his parents of Bellaire; his brothers and sisters, Timothy (Gina) Lowe of Traverse City, Ruth Lowe of Bellaire, Joel (Donna) Lowe of Hope, Ind., and Rebecca (Fred) Fisher of Bellaire; his father and mother in-law Herbert and Mary Tipton of Mancelona; his maternal grandmother Helen McLellan of Petoskey; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and his maternal grandfather.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 1, at St. Luke Catholic Church with Pastor Steve Eccles and Pastor Mary Brown officiating. Interment took place in Lakeview cemetery in Bellaire with military honors.

Gloria Carpenter-Dunlap
Gloria Carpenter-Dunlap 51, of Timmonsville, S.C., formerly of Ellsworth and Central Lake, died Sunday, May 23, 2004, at her home in Timmonsville.
She was born on Jan. 25, 1953, in Charlevoix, the daughter of Arthur and Nellie (Fales) Carpenter.
She had been a resident of South Carolina since 1979. Prior to moving to South Carolina she resided in various parts of the country and spent her childhood and teen years in Ellsworth where she went to high school.
She enjoyed collecting books as well as owning her own retail book store out of her home.
In February 2001 at her home in Timmonsville she married Victor Dunlap who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Kevin (Shannon) Patton of Latta, S.C., Kenneth (Jeannie) Patton of Timmonsville, S.C.; two brothers, Calvin Carpenter of Holland, William (Trish) Carpenter of Ellsworth; a sister Peggy (Bill) WaffleClark of Ellsworth; three grandchildren, Anna, Enos and Jesse Patton all of South Carolina; as well as many nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by a brother Doyle Carpenter, a brother-in-law Leo Waffle, two sisters-in-law, Emma Carpenter and Shirley Carpenter as well as her parents.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 29, at the Grace Community Church in Central Lake. The Rev. Richard McWatters officiated. Interment was in Southern cemetery in Central Lake.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Keith Churchill
Keith Churchill, 77, of Central Lake and Clearwater, Fla., died Monday, April 19, 2004, in Clearwater.
He had resided in Royal Oak for many years where he was employed as a gas serviceman for Consumers Energy. In 1988 he moved to Central Lake where he spent the summer months.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the VFW Torch Post 6985 in Central Lake.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy; two sons, James of LaPeer and Brian of Jackson. Also surviving are two brothers, Glen and Ken of Michigan; a twin sister Keitha of California; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 4, at 2 p.m. at Dunsmore cemetery in Echo Township. The Rev. Richard McWatters will officiate. Arrangements are being handled by the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Dale H. Corner
Dale H. Corner, 81, of Central Lake, died Monday, May 24, 2004, at the Heritage Health Care Center in Flint.
He was born July 22, 1922, in Forest Home Township, the son of Emil and Inez (Smith) Corner.
He resided in Central Lake most of his life. He was a self-employed builder and also worked at General Motors in Flint.
He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was a long-time member of the Torch Post VFW # 6985 in Central Lake.
He is survived by his wife Bert of Central Lake; two children, Lenora (Paul Hubbell) Donaldson of Central Lake, Allen (Catherine) Lisk of Flint; a brother Victor (Dorthea) of Central Lake; a sister Lavona Lewis of Bellaire; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Friday, May 28, at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. The Rev. Daniel C. Clark officiated. Interment took place in Southern cemetery, Central Lake.

Jean LaPratt
Jean LaPratt 70, of Alba died Friday, May 28, 2004, at Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord.
She was born Dec. 25, 1933 in Otsego County, the daughter of Troy and Iola (Borst) Kimbler.
She was a resident of Alba since 1979. She owned and operated the Green Lantern Bar in Alba since 1980. She was a member of the Antrim County Snowmobile Club, the Alba Sportsman Club as well as the Mancelona Moose Lodge. She was one of the founders of the Alba Kids Day and for the past 10 years she was a sponsor for the Wertz Warriors Special Olympics.
She enjoyed writing letters, doing puzzles, going to the casino and most of all she enjoyed spending time with children.
On Aug. 1, 1952 in Alba, she married Donald LaPratt who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Joan Bailey and Shirley Carpenter, two brothers, Don and Ron Kimbler, and her parents.
Surviving are four children, Preston (Laura) LaPratt of Rochester Hills, Donna LaPratt of Alba, Lori (Doug) Sheridan of Mancelona, and Perry (Penny) LaPratt of Alba. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 31, at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. The Rev. Sam McClellan officiated. Interment was in Star Township cemetery in Alba. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Edgar Thomas Morrison
Edgar Thomas Morrison, 23, of Torch Lake Village died Sunday morning, May 30, 2004, in Milton Township.
Eddie was born Jan. 5, 1981 in Trenton, the son of Thomas and Diane Morrison.
He graduated from Central Lake High School in 2000 and had attended Traverse Bay Intermediate School District to receive training as a mechanic.
He had resided in Torch Lake Village since 1988, moving from Wyandotte. He worked at the Torch Bay Marine in Torch Lake Village.
He enjoyed boating, fishing, snowmobiling and making people happy. His greatest love was his family and friends.
Surviving are his parents of Torch Lake Village; two brothers, John Bacca of Bellaire and Thomas Morrison of Torch Lake Village; his paternal grandmother Rose Morrison of Novi; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 4, at 11 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church in Bellaire. Interment will follow in Lakeview cemetery, Torch Lake Township. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes, where a Wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Mildred H. Stocking
Mildred H. Stocking, 97, of Elk Rapids died Sunday, May 23, 2004, at Northwood Village Care Home in Elk Rapids. She was born in Elk Rapids on Sept. 13, 1906, the daughter of Bernie and Lena (Hanel) Stocking.
Mildred loved to teach; she taught kindergarten for 37 years at Trenton Schools, and had fond memories of the children.
Mildred sang with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. She enjoyed traveling and playing cards with her friends. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Trenton, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Elk Rapids.
Mildred is survived by her brother, George Stocking of Grand Rapids; a nephew, Ronald Duryea of Grand Rapids; and a niece, Barbara Carpenter of Grand Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 27, at First Presbyterian Church in Elk Rapids, with the Rev. Dr. Dan Herlein officiating. Interment was at Maple Grove cemetery in Elk Rapids.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Elk Rapids Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
