Nellie Gieryk, 81, of Grayling passed away on Sunday, October 1st, 2006.
She was born in Imlay City, Michigan on May 18, 1925, the daughter of the late John Henry and Helena Madeline (Carter) Millard. She moved to the Grayling area 7 years ago, coming from Ypsilanti.
She was married to Raymond Allen Stein for 20 years before he preceded her in death. She was also married to Constantin Gieryk for 20 years before he preceded her in death.

Daughter: Twilla (Ernie) McMillen of Grayling.
Son(s): Dale (Terri) Stein of Monroe,
Gary Stein of Lafayette, Colorado.
Step children: Connie Litzner & Mike Gieryk.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
Sister: Mary (William)Coy of Maple Forest Twp.
Brother: William (Jeanette) Millard of Arizona.
Preceded in death by her parents, Husband Raymond Allen Stein, Husband Constantin Gieryk, 1 brother, 6 sisters, a daughter Joann, son James, granddaughter, Tammy Lee Marshall and grandson ,Dale Allen Stein Jr.
Visitation will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home on Tuesday October 3, 2006 between
11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Funeral Service will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 3rd, with Pastor Robert Barnett officiating.
Interment at Maple Forest Twp. cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home.

Jeanne Lunetta Joyce
September 25, 2006

JEANNE LUNETTA JOYCE

Mrs. Jeanne Lunetta Joyce, 88, of Wheaton, Illinois passed away on Monday, September 25th, 2006.
She was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 24, 1918, the daughter of the late Donald and Esther (Bruce) Lewis. Jeanne married Garland Joyce on January 28, 1938 in Bowling Green, Ohio. They were married for 64 years before he preceded her in death on May 22, 2002.
She received her Bachelors Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University (formerly Marygrove College)
She was employed as a elementary school teacher in the Royal Oak School District. Moved to the Grayling area in 1962 and was proud to call Grayling her "home" for over thirty years. Jeanne was also a piano teacher and a voracious reader. Her loves in life were her only daughter in law, four grand children, and her great-grandchildren.

She was Favorite "Nana" to four grandchildren: Michael S. (Karen) Joyce, Kimberly J. (Rick) Kern, and Darin T. (Tracie) Joyce of Wheaton, IL, and Christopher W. (Kathi) Joyce of Lombard, IL.
and her great grandchildren: Michael, Kyle, Hannah, Travis, Kelly, Ryan, Tyler, Henry, Brock and grat grandchild #9 anticipated to arrive on 9/27/2006.
Preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Garland "Bud" Joyce.
Visitation will be held on Friday Sept 29, 2006 between 5-8 pm. at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home.
Funeral Service at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30th, with Pastor Rick Secord officiating. .
Burial will be at Elmwood cemetery Grayling, MI.
Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donation to Crawford County Commission on Aging or Crawford County Library.

Jerry A. Pratt
September 18, 2006

Jerry A. Pratt, 67, of Frederic passed away on Monday, September 18th, 2006.
He was born in Grayling, MI on June 9, 1939, the son of the late Warner and Virginia (Denewitt) Pratt.
Jerry married Yvonne Weaver on October 21, 1961 in Frederic, Michigan. He was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather. He has been a lifelong resident of the Grayling/Frederic area.
He was retired from the Crawford County Road Commission as a road foreman after 42 years.
He is survived by his mother, Virginia Pratt and his wife Yvonne of 44 years,
Daughter: Anjanette (Scott) Hoover of Gaines.
Son(s): Jerry D Pratt (Dawn) of Grayling.,
Robin Pratt of Grayling,
Michael Pratt of Frederic.
Grandchildren: Jessica, Taylor, Roy, Gage
Sister: Ginger Reichelderfer of Grayling
Brother: Larry (Jennie)Pratt of Grayling
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 19, 2006 from 5-8 P.M.at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday September 20th, 2006 with Elder Ann Doty and Elder Jack Seifert officiating.
Interment will be at Oakwood cemetery in Frederic Twp.
Arrangements entrusted to Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home.

John Joseph Whittaker, 52, 0f Grayling passed away on Sept.ember 13, 2006.
Mr. Whittaker was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 7, 1954, the son of the late Leslie and Dolores (Merchel) Whittaker who survives him of Indianapolis, Indiana..

She was born in Prescott, MI on December 26, 1910, the daughter of the late Daniel and Norma (Church) Pillsbury.
She was the widow of Kenneth Bailey.
She is survived by:
Daughter: Norma Secord of Grayling.
Son: Hugh Scott of Florida.
She is also survived by 7 grandchildren.
There will be a private family service at a later date.

September 3, 2006

Mavis Mae Raths passed away on Sunday, September 3rd, 2006.
Mavis was born in Huron, Ohio on November 28, 1926, the daughter of the late Lionel and Shirley (Baldwin) Mickens.
She married Ray Raths on May 9, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan. They were married for 50 years before he preceded her in death in 2004.
Mavis enjoyed gardening, nature, baking, embroidery, books on Indian lore, painting, journaling and being surroinded by her family. She was also involved with the 4-H program.
She is survived by:
Daughter: Caroll (Terry) Wakeley of Grayling.
Son: Christopher Raths of Grand Ledge
Grandchildren: Mike, Hilary, & Sam Modica.
Sister(s): Marilyn Shute of Gaylord., Myrna Shank of Northville.
There will be a private family service.

Marcia Helms, 52, of Grayling passed away on Sunday, September 3rd, 2006.
She was born in Marceline, MO on February 22, 1954, the daughter of the late Harold and Dolores Norton.
She was the wife of Howard Helms.
Memorial service has taken place at the Senior Center.

Howard "BUTCH" Wright
November 12, 2006

Mr. Howard John "BUTCH" Wright, 58, of Grayling, passed away on Sunday, November 12th, 2006.
Mr. Wright was born in Ferndale, Michigan on December 15, 1947, the son of the late Howard Edward and Wanda A (Kanouse) Wright.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Private in the Vietnam War.
He was employed as a Machinist at Parker-Hanefin Manufacturing Holt, MI., for 22 1/2 years before moving to Grayling in 2000.
Butch married Regina (King) Wright on Dec. 15, 1991 at Grayling, Michigan. He was very close with his family. He enjoyed many activities with them like camping, cars, building, woodworking, Elvis, and watching western movies.
He was a previous member of Grayling Eagles.
He was a member of Burnung Bush Tabernacle.
He is survived by his wife Regina of 14 years;
Daughter: Ann (Jose) Godines of Lansing, MI.
Judy Elizabeth Wright of Grayling, MI.
Son(s): Howard E. (Christina) Wright of Lansing, MI.,
Jerry W. (Aimee) Wright of Eaton Rapids, MI.
Step Daughter(s): Patricia (Kevin) Boynton of Holt, MI.,
Paula (Darrin) Malott of Nebraska.
He is also survived by 8 grandchildren.

Janis (David) Smith of Grayling, MI.,

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judy Lynn Wright.
Graveside Service will be held at Elmwood cemetery, Grayling, Michigan, on
Saturday, November 18th, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Patricia Petrie officiating and Military Honors being accorded by American Legion Post 106, Camp Grayling Firing Squad, And U.S. Army.
Family suggestions for those that so desire would be donations to an education trust fund for Judy Elizabeth Wright c/o Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home PO Box 602 Grayling, Michigan 49738.
