John McKane Wilcox, Jr.

John McKane Wilcox, Jr., 81, of Grayling passed away on Friday, August 15th, 2008.
John was born in Mt. Clemens, Michigan on January 12, 1927, the son of
the late John McKane and Edna Freida (Wier) Wilcox.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Worked at Camp Grayling for 37 years as a heavy equipment operator and retired as a supervisor in 1984. He was a life time member of VFW Post 3736
& American Legion Post #106 and the 40/8.
He married the former Georgina Beverly Denewett on May 4, 1957 in Grayling, Michigan.
He was a member of Mt. Hope Lutheran Church
John was generously involved in the Grayling Community. He was a volunteer fireman for the City of Grayling for 23 years, Crawford County Ambulance for 17 years, Auxillary Officer for the
Crawford County Sherriff Department and the City of Grayling Police Department, CPR Instructor,
Member of the Goodale Bakery Boys. When John retired from the fire department, "John Wilcox Day" was celebrated in recognition of his contributions to the community.
John is survived by his wife, Beverly Wilcox of 51 years.

Arthur Jene "AJ" (Mary Jane) Wilcox of Palm Bay, Florida.,

Daughters: Juliane Marie (Gene) Andrews of St. Johns, Michigan.
Teresa Diane (Fred) Raybould of Grayling, Michigan.
Grandchildren - Nicole Lyn Wilcox, Clark Edward Wilcox, Jr., Justin Steven Wilcox,
Heather Renee (Randy) Beals, Nicholas Adam (Jeanine)Andrews, Christapher John Andrews,
Robert Duane Andrews, Tiffany Elizabeth Andrews, Shanda Leigh Wilcox, Shaston Leigh (Walter) Gorman, Sherrie Leigh Mayberry, Samantha Maria Wilcox, Aaron McKane Wilcox, Timothy Michael Hoesli,
Jason Chris (Barbara) Hoesli.
Great-Grandchildren - Makaylinn Juanita Wilcox, Aiden William Wilcox, Randy Wade Beals,
Isaih Christian Beals, Alexander Jacob "AJ" Beals, Aurora Ashlyn Gorman,

Sister in law: Velma June Wilcox
John was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marie Iverson; brother Roland Wilcox;
grandson, Jeffery John Hoesli; granddaughter, Mary Ann Andrews.
Visitation will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home on Sunday August 17, 2008 between 1:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday August 18, 2008 between 12 noon to 8:00 p.m..
Funeral service will be held at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home on
Tuesday August 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Steven Theil officiating.
Interment will be at Oakwood cemetery in Frederic, MI.
Arrangements entrusted to Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home.

Louis Bert Miller
August 11, 2008

Mr. Louis Bert Miller, 76, of Comins passed away on Monday, August 11th, 2008.
Louis was born in Mt. Clemens, Michigan on July 18, 1932, the son of the late
Elmer Charles and Clara Veronica (Marsh) Miller.
Louis was retired from Rochester Public Schools where he had worked as a master school bus mechanic,
He had coached the Babe Ruth Division of baseball at L'Anse Creuse for many years,
and he was a member of Comins Eagles

Laura (Mark) Lucia of Harrison, MI.
Grandchildren:

Kimberly Miller, Stacie Miller, Vincent Lucia.
Brother: Bruce (Andrea) MIller of Macomb, MI
Preceded in death by his parents.
Private family memorial service has taken place.
Memorial Contributions may be sent to University of Michigan
Cancer Center in Ann Arbor.

Jerry Lee Elekonich
August 9, 2008

Jerry Lee Elekonich, 57, of Grayling passed away on Saturday, August 9th, 2008.
Jerry was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 16, 1951, the son of the late Paul and Kathleen (Woerner) Elekonich who survives him of Montoursville, Pennsylvania..
He served in the U.S. Marine Corp.
He married the former Denise Mater on October 11, 1998.
Jerry is survived by
Daughters: Jennifer (Colminton) Allen of Ft. Stewart, Georgia.
Renee (Mike) Joseph of Frederic, MI
Kelly Meehan of Grayling, MI
Erin Meehan of Grayling, MI
Son:Marc Elekonich of North Carolina.
He is also survived by 9 grandchildren
Sisters: Joan A. Suchomma of Sylvania, Ohio.,
Janet M. (Keith) Hoffman of Pennsylvania.
Brother: Joseph (Patricia) Elekonich of Saline, Michigan.
Preceded in death by his father, Paul Elekonich.
In keeping respect with Jerry's wishes cremation has been completed and no public services will be held
Jerry's family shared the opportunity for others to benefit by donation to "Gift of Life".

Francis Alvin
August 2, 2008

Frank Schoen, 45, of Grayling died peacefully on Saturday, August 2nd, 2008 following a log illness.
Frank was born in Mt. Clemens, MI, Michigan on February 5, 1963, the son of the late Lawrence and Dolores (Miller) Schoen.
Frank knew everyone, and if he didn't, he "missed you anyways".
He was the first one on the dance floor and the last one off. Franks love for music and people
earned him the opportunity of making new friends all over Michigan
No matter what shape or size your beard was (with the exception of Santa Claus) you were told to shave.
Frank was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the The Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 3465 since 1984 where he was awarded "The Ambassador of Love Award" in 2003.
Upon moving to northern Michigan in 1971, he attended COOR Intermediate School District in Roscommon. After graduation he worked at the ROOC Workshop until his recent illness. Through the organizations he also enjoyed bowling, basketball, softball, skiing, canoeing, bocce ball and the Special Olympics.
Frank had accumulated numerous awards and medals for the softball throw, shot put, bowling and running. His basketball team made it to the state finals and were 7 points shy of winning the state title for his division.

Frank was preceded in death by his father Lawrence S. Schoen, mother Dolores A. Schoen,
step mother Cymbria (SAM) Schoen, and brother Thomas J. Schoen.
Visitation will be held at Michelson Memorial United Methodist Church on
Wednesday August 6, 2008 between 1 p.m. to 3 p.m..
Funeral service will be held at Michelson Memorial United Methodist Church on Wednesday August 6, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. William Cargo and Sister Jean Umlor, RSM officiating.
Interment will be held at Elmwood cemetery on Friday August 8, 2008 at 1:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Schoen family.
Arrangements entrusted to Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home.

Ralph "BRODY" Chism, 79, of Roscommon passed away on Tuesday, July 29th, 2008.
Ralph was born in Hazel Park, Michigan on August 3, 1928, the son of
the late Homer and Freeda (Short) Chism.
He married the former Barbara Gould on September 29, 1945 in Hazel Park, Michigan.
Barbara preceded him in death on May 17, 2008

Daughters: Sandra Nash of Warren, Michigan.
Cynthia (Donald) Roeske of Troy, Michigan.
Rebecca (Ralph) Dandy of Grayling, Michigan.
Sons: Roger (Linda) Chism of Roscommon, Michigan.,
Richard (Glynnis) Chism of Florida.
He is also survived by 11 Grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren
Sister, Robin (Richard) Gerard of Roscommon, Michigan.
Brother: Dr. James (Karen) Chism of Clinton Township, Michigan
Preceded in death by wife Barbara and sister Jeri Gould
Visitation will be held at Walsh Funeral Home in Roscommon on Friday August 1, 2008 between 3-8 p.m.
Funeral will be held at Walsh Funeral Home in Roscommon on Saturday August 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Elizabeth Chace officiating.
Interment at Gerrish Township cemetery.
Arrangements made by Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home.
