Robert Patrick McKee

Age 24, of Adrian, passed away, May 18, 2006. He was born December 18, 1981, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, the son of Robert M. McKee & Veronica Baugh.

He is survived by his uncles; Mark (Patti) Baugh, Jay Baugh, and Myka McKee his aunts; JoAnn Dalgard, Maria Baugh, Kelly (Jon) Martin, Lynn (Rob) Davis and Nicole (Bruce) Priemer, his mother; Veronica Baugh, his sister; Marcella (Jasmine) Morrison, his maternal grandparents; Melvin (Zulema) Baugh, and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father; Robert M. McKee, paternal grandparents, Robert & Madeleine McKee, and his aunt; Teri Baugh.

Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday followed by a funeral service in the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Constance "Connie" Gray

Age 58, of Manitou Beach, passed away, October 15, 2006, at home. She was born December 13, 1947, the daughter of Reece & Phyllis (Miller) Byrd in Adrian, MI. On October 25, 1975, she married Larry Gray in Adrian, MI, he survives.

Connie enjoyed traveling and taking cruises as well as spending time at her lake home. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Lakes.

In addition to her husband Larry, she is survived by her children; Stephanie (Daniel) Hofbauer of Manitou Beach and Michael Paul Bemis of Tecumseh, three stepchildren; Karen, Tim, and Christy Gray, one granddaughter; Taiylor, four step grandchildren, one brother; Calvin (Linda) Byrd of Tecumseh, one half sister; Debbie (Richard) Fronce of Tecumseh, her step mother; Agnes Byrd of Tecumseh, and her aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her step father, Lowell Leupp, one step daughter, Kathy Williams, and half brother, John Byrd.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 18, 2006, in the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Pastor David Gadbaw officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood cemetery, Adrian. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 17, 2006, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM & 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Robert D. Powell

Age 78, of Hudson, passed away May 23, 2006, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born March 29, 1928, in Athens, OH, the son of Arthur & Eleanor (Atkinson) Powell. On May 14, 1946, he married Hope Hull, she survives. Together they had five children. Robert served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Sea Bee and worked in the construction industry all his life. Robert was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and three time 1000 yard national match champion. He was also an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and horseman.

Besides his wife Hope, Bob is survived by two daughters; Roberta (James) Henning and Mary (Phil) Seeburger both of Adrian, two sons; Kim Powell of Lansing and Alan Powell of Hudson, one daughter in law; Deborah (Jay) Powell of Canton, three sisters; Jean Dittmar, Lois Evans, and Mary Jane Bowlby, one brother; Mick Powell, 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one son Jay Powell.

Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 PM, Friday, May 26, 2006, in the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until the time of service in the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian. Military Honors conducted by the Adrian VFW Post 1584 Annis Fint.

Anastasia S. Hagerman
Dec. 20, 1915 - Sep. 3, 2006

Funeral Services of Christian Burial were Friday, Sep. 8, 2006 at the Chapel of Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi, Michigan for Anastasia S. Hagerman, 90, who died Sunday, Sep. 3rd in Whitmore Lake Michigan.

Deacon Arthur VanBrook of the Church of the Holy Spirit of Highland Michigan officiated. Interment was at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi, Michigan. Anastasia was the first born of 7 children, to the late Joseph and Frances (Roczniak) Jarnot of St. Anna, Minnesota and lived on the Jarnot farm until 1930, when she went to live with one of her Aunt's in Plymouth Michigan during the Depression. In 1938 she married LeRoy D. Hagerman of Detroit, Michigan. During WWII, she worked at the Ecorse Steel Mill, as a Quality Control technician, checking the integrity of 30 lb. Artillery shell casings used by the shipping fleet of the U.S. Navy. In 1953 they returned to St. Anna after purchasing the family farm from her widowed Mother. In 1960 they sold the farm to her brother Joe and (Irene) Jarnot, moved to nearby Avon and opened the Hagerman Heating business.

In 1966 they purchased the "FunCenter" in Holdingford and lived there until 1968, when they returned to Avon.

In 1969, they regretfully had to leave the Central Minnesota area that they loved, due to family matters back in Michigan, where they lived out their lives happily ever after. She was a loving Mother, and is survived by her son, James and his wife Cathy of Northville Michigan.

She is survived by and is Dearest sister of: Cecile Spencer of Champlin Minnesota, Victoria Howell of Atlanta Michigan, Irene Hruska of Minneapolis Minnesota, and Lilian Birchard of Crossville Tennessee.

She was loved by many cousins, nieces, nephews andfriends who will miss her positive outlook and love of life and family. Anastasia was preceded in death by her husband (in 1980), her parents, and her two brothers, Steve of Brooklyn Center Minnesota and Joe, of St. Anna, Minnesota.

Arrangements were by the Purse Funeral Home of Adrian Michigan.

Earl Leroy Moll

Age 87, of Raisin Twp., passed away, October 21, 2006, at The Toledo Hospital. He was born March 13, 1920, the son of Christopher & Elizabeth (Roloff) Moll in Toledo, OH. He was a life long farmer in the Palmyra & Raisin Township areas, as well as an avid hunter.

He is survived by his brother Ray (Shirley) Moll of Raisin Twp. along with several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents; two brothers; Lloyd Moll and LaVern Moll, two sisters; Viola Pancake and Bernice Moll, and his nephew; Rodney Moll.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 25, 2006, in the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian. Burial will follow in Palmyra cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Joseph E. Locke, Sr.

Age 49, of Adrian, passed away, March 31, 2006, at home. He was born September 12, 1956, the son of Roy & Mary (Benning) Locke in Pontiac, MI. On June 25, 1979, he married Donna Bacon, she survives.

In addition to his wife Donna, he is survived by his parents, Roy & Mary Locke of Pontiac, His son; Joseph Locke, Jr. of Ft. Wayne, IN, one brother; Jason (Mary) Locke of Pontiac, and one sister; Lynda (Jose) Loza of Pontiac.

He was preceded in death by his daughter; April Locke and two brothers, Richard & Gary Locke. According to Joe's wishes, cremation will take place and no services will be held. Arrangements by Purse Funeral home, Adrian, MI.

Arthur H. "Bud" Cubberly

Age 79, of Tecumseh, died June 11, 2006, at Veterans Administration Hospital, Ann Arbor.

He was born November 19, 1926 in Waldron, the son of Frederick and Belle (Randolph) Cubberly. On July 7, 1947 he married Betty Davies who preceded him in death on October 18, 2004.

Arthur was a graduate of Tecumseh High School. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, Tecumseh. He was retired from Tecumseh Products Company with 40 years of service. Bud was an avid woodworker who enjoyed making toys; and in his later years pocket crosses which he gave away to anyone he met.

Bud proudly served his country, joining the Navy in 1943. He received 5 Bronze Star Medals for his service in the Pacific.

Bud is survived by four children, David Cubberly, Kathy (Perl) Sebring, Paul Cubberly, and Sharon (David) Prill, all of Tecumseh; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Betty, he was preceded in death by 2 grandughters, ChloŽ Marie Cubberly and Joann Marie Prill, and four brothers, and one sister.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2006 at First Baptist Church, Tecumseh, with Rev. Clayton Carn & Rev. John Landis officiating. Interment will follow at Brookside cemetery with military honors conducted by the Tecumseh American Legion #34 and the Tecumseh V.F.W #4187.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Tecumseh.

Kenneth E. Sturtz,

Age 88, of Adrian, passed away May 26, 2006, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility. He was born March 17, 1918, the son of Harry & Verbal (Erwin) Sturtz, in Sandwich, Ill. On September 27, 1941, he married Anne Winsky, she survives. Ken was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his wife Anne, he is survived by five children; Dennis (Carol) Sturtz, Diane (Jim) Chamberlain, Richard (Cynthia) Sturtz, Sharyn (Chris) Bicknell, and Bill Sturtz, nine grandchildren; 15 great granchildren, one great great grandaughter, and one sister; Luella Kotcko.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at St. Mary of Good Cousel Catholic Church in Adrian, with Rev. Fr. Robert Schramm as Presider.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, May 29, in the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian. A Vigil Prayer Service will be held 7:00 PM Monday in the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Neva Stephenson

Age 71, of Adrian, passed away, May 24, 2006, at Bixby Medical Center. She was born June 18, 1934, the daughter of Frank & Frances (Dudley) Daniels. On February 21, 1953, she married Walter Stephenson, he survives. She worked at Acco Babcock from 1952 to 1989, retiring after 37 years.

In addition to her husband Walter, she is survived by her sons, Robbie (Marlene) Stephenson of Tecumseh, Rickie (Vickie) Stephenson of Jackson, Randy Stephenson of Carleton, one sister, Geraldine LaVigne of Adrian, grandchildren, and her Aunt; Mildred Moran.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters; Betty McCarley, Joyce Ellwood, and Hattie Livernois, and a brother, Frank B. Daniels.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, May 26, 2006, in the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Rev. Lloyd Jewett officiating. Burial will follow in Fairfield cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday in the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian. Immediately following the burial, a reception will be held at Serenity House, 600 Gulf St, in Adrian.

Lynne J. Refner

Age 69, of Adrian, died, June 17, 2006, at Bixby Medical Center. She was born on August 2, 1936, in Ypsilanti, MI, the daughter of Edward & Jessie (Loveland) Aluk, they preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was one sister; Susan Childs. She is survived by one brother; Edward S. Aluk of San Francisco. CA, her husband; Richard Refner of Adrian, three sons and two daughters; Donald (Linda) Deniston of Howell, MI, Max (Robyn) Morden of Verona, NJ, Dan (Kim) Refner of Allegan, MI, Debbie (Larry) Bedolla of Adrian, MI, and Tammy (Craig) Half of Chino Valley, AZ, nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

She was retired from Fisher Body and Wal-Mart. She was a loving grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.

JUDY ANN ZAMMIT (nee GIEDRA)

Judy Ann (nee Giedra), beloved wife of John was born May 18, 1952 and passed away June 21, 2006 after a courageous, 11-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was employed at GM Fisher Body Fleetwood, became the first female electrical journeyman at the plant, graduated from University of Michigan and was promoted to skilled trades supervisor. She enjoyed her retirement years living in Lake Erin in the Irish Hills. Her passions were reading, gardening, traveling, home repair and especially making friends with everyone she met.

In addition to her husband, John, Judy is survived by her devoted parents. Lillian Anderson and Alexander (Jeanette) Giedra, her brother Gary (Marie) Giedra, Allen and the late Kevin Giedra, her uncles Albert (Carol) Russell, George (Barbara) Russell, William (Audrey) Kima, her aunt Jean Fitzgerald, her nieces Rachel (Brad) Huwe, nephew Aaron Geidra. Also surviving are her stepchildren Timari (Nick) Deane, John A. (Paula) Zammit II, Trina (Mickey) Cofer, Tricia (Marty) Segar, and Jospeh (Amanda) Zammit including 23 step grandchildren and 5 grandnieces and grand nephews. Visitation Saturday, June 24, 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Purse Funeral Home, 210 Pottawatamie, Tecumseh, MI 49286 (517) 423-2121. Sunday, June 25, 7:00 p.m. evening vigil service at St. Elizabeth Church, 500 Union Street, Tecumseh. Monday 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass of the Resurrection with Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler presiding. Interment at Holy Sepulchre cemetery, Southfield, MI.

Percy Dean Sweet

Age 74, of Adrian, passed away August 8, 2006. He was born July 14, 1932, in Tecumseh, MI, the son of Donald & Helen (Maltby) Sweet. On December 7, 1957, he married Ruby Cox, in Johnson City, TN. In December of this year, they would have celebrated their 49th anniversary. Percy worked for Stubnitz-Green from 1950 to 1982 and then he worked for the Adrian Dominican Sisters from 1983 to 1997.

In addition to his wife Ruby, he is survived by two sons; Richard D. (Barbara) Sweet of Adrian, Michael W. Sweet of Lambertville, one daughter; Cynthia Mary (Gregg) Fay of Adrian, four grandchildren; Matthew & Danielle Fay and Rachelle & Christian Sweet, one sister; Patsy (Pete) Bodella of Adrian, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Arthur Sweet, Lester Sweet, and Raynor Sweet, six sisters; Gladys Koradjian, Beatrice Hand, Leona Sanderson, Donna Woodard, Doris Sweet, and Gloria Sweet, and five nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 12, 2006, in the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Rev. Doug Winters officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside cemetery, Tecumseh, MI. Visitation will be on Friday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.
