Mary (Jones) Bills, 82, of Davison (formerly of White Cloud), died Thursday (Dec. 5, 2002) at Lapeer Regional Hospital in Lapeer.
She was born Aug. 23, 1920, in Blaney Park to Meade and Myrtle (Hamilton) Knapp. She married Theodore R. Jones on April 22, 1939, in White Cloud.
She had been a longtime resident of White Cloud until she moved to Lapeer in 1998. She was a member of the Big Prairie Community Church and had been active in the Foster Grandparent Program. She had been a baker and cook at Ferris State University in Big Rapids from 1964 until her retirement in 1982.
She is survived by her children, Bonnie (Gary) Herfert of Metamora, Theodore L. (Sue) Jones Jr. of Sparta and Leonard (Janet) Jones Sr. of White Cloud; 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a twin sister, Miriam Robart of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; 10 brothers and sisters; and daughter-in-law, Valeta Jones.
Memorial contributions may be made to the White Cloud United Methodist Church Food Bank.
Funeral services were Monday (Dec. 9) at the Crandell Funeral Home in White Cloud Chapel. The Rev. Jerry Jaquish officiated. Burial was in Big Prairie Everett Township cemetery.

Ruth Todd

Metamora
Ruth Todd, 85, of Metamora (formerly of West Bloomfield), died Tuesday (Dec. 3, 2002).
She was born Dec. 22, 1916, in Canada, to Thomas and Lillian (Kidd) Luscombe. She married Raymond Vincent Todd.
She enjoyed reading, knitting, watching sports and bird watching. She was also considered a history buff.
She is survived by her children, Raymond Michael (Carolyn) Todd of Howell, Donald (Brenda) Todd of Ortonville, Judith Brown of Ferndale, Geoffrey (Margaret) Todd of Waterford, Terry (Sue) Todd of Ortonville, Jill (Tim) Moore of Hadley, Deborah (Robert) Walosin of Washington and Kim (Larry) Bierbot of Lapeer; 23 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; parents and siblings, Elizabeth, Tom, John and Bill.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hadley Community Church.
A memorial service was Friday (Dec. 6) at Hadley Community Church. The Rev. Rich Geigert officiated. The family has chosen cremation.

Bertha R. Stowe

Bertha R. Stowe, 87, of Lapeer (formerly of Wyoming, Mich.), died Tuesday (Dec. 3, 2002).
She was born April 5, 1915, in Roanoke, Va., to Stanley and Ellen (Robinson) Fracker. She married Harry Stowe on June 10, 1936, in Grand Rapids.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her children, Frank (Judy) Stowe of Loveland, Ohio, Beverly (Spenser) Brittain of Lapeer and Mark (Ute) Stowe of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Tammy Snyder, Cindy Fulkerson, Wendy Potts, Stacey Rock, Spenser Brittain Jr., Amanda Mawhinney, Christopher Stowe and Jeffrey Stowe; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jean (Darrell) Rowe of Tuscon, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Stowe; parents and siblings, Stanley Fracker, Ralph Fracker and Clara Atkins.

The family has chosen cremation. Funeral services were Saturday (Jan. 11) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Terry Euper officiated.

Emil Otto August Springer

Emil Otto August Springer, 97, of Lapeer (formerly of Imlay City and Hazel Park), died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at the Lapeer County Medical Care Facility.
He was born March 24, 1905, in Detroit to Emil O. and Marie (Bredow) Springer Sr. He married Frances Rita Kolito on May 10, 1952, in Detroit.
He served in the Army Medical Corps during World War II. He was employed by Chrysler in Hamtramck for 30 years, retiring in 1971. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Imlay City.
He is survived by his daughter, F. Rita Hess of Imlay City; grandchildren, Joyce Koontz of Midland, Raymond Hess of Las Vegas, Nev., John Hess of Fredricks, Ohio, Gloria Vitale of Warren, Allen Hess of Spokane, Wash., Dennis Hess of Florida, Nancy Hubbard of North Branch, Janice Young of Imlay City, Pamela Hill of Imlay City, Anita Kalisz of Jupiter, Fla., and Tamara Hess of Attica; and 29 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Rita Springer in 1984; parents, Emil and Marie Springer Sr.; four brothers and six sisters.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m., Thursday (March 20) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday (March 21) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. The Rev. Alan Casillas will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemane cemetery, Detroit.

Donald M. Newlin

Donald M. Newlin, 70, of Imlay City, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, in Lapeer.
He was born March 30, 1932, in Detroit, to Cecil and Flora Newlin. He married Betty Smith on Sept. 27, 1951, in Imlay City.
He served in the Air Force. He retired from the Ford Sterling Plant and had also worked at Champion in Dryden and Active Homes in Marlette.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty; children, Steve (Josafina) Newlin of Imlay City, Janet (Charles) Stanley of Melvin, Ruth (Mike) Houser and David (Holly) Newlin of Decatur; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and sisters, Martha Scully and Louise Somerville.
Memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice.
Funeral services were Tuesday (March 18) at Carman Funeral Home, Brown City. The Rev. Richard Black officiated. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery.

Kenneth Cameron, 65, of Lapeer (formerly of Ferndale), died Friday, March 14, 2003.
He was born Aug. 10, 1937, in Inn Harbor to John and Mabel (Bowers) Cameron. He married JoAnn Smith.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of the Ferndale Elks and the Royal Oak Oddfellows.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Cameron of Lapeer; son, Keith Cameron of Maryland; two grandchildren and siblings, Jacklin Schaefer of Kalamazoo, Mabel Marolin of Everett, Constance Tzovarras of Sebring, Fla., and Rocky Cameron of Sebring, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Cameron Jr.; sister, Rosie Brenizer; and parents, John and Mabel Cameron.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday (March 20) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday (March 21) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. David Hill will officiate. Burial will be in Oakview cemetery, Royal Oak.

Fay Nelson King

Fay Nelson King, 85, of Imlay City, died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at Medilodge in Richmond.
He was born July 7, 1917, in Mecosta County to Frank Nelson and Ada (Watson) King. He married Nina Belle Hadder on Jan. 14, 1937, in White Cloud.
He lived most of his life in the Imlay City area. He had been employed as a service and repairman for Consumers Power in Lapeer for 23 years, retiring in 1973. He was also former member of Free and Accepted Masons Lodge.
He is survived by his sons, Frederick King of Mountain View, Ark., and James (Charlene) King of North Branch; son-in-law, Irvin Gill of North Branch; 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Belle King in 1993; daughter, Elizabeth "Betty" Gill; brother, Harold King; sister, Winnie Woods; and half-sister, Isile Warner.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services were Monday (March 17) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. The Rev. Kevin Harbin officiated. Burial was in Imlay Township cemetery, Imlay City.

Betty J. Grossbauer

Betty J. Grossbauer, 81, of Lapeer, died Thursday, March 13, 2003.
She was born March 13, 1922, in Lapeer to Lawrence and Bernice (Higley) Streu. She married Harry W. Grossbauer on March 15, 1941.
She was a member of Elba United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge 319, Lapeer Suncrest Auxiliary and the State Retirees Association. She enjoyed traveling and camping with family and friends. She retired in 1978 as a housekeeping supervisor after working 27 years at Oakdale State Home.
She is survived by her children, Beverly Misener of Lapeer and James (Sue) Grossbauer of Metamora; daughter-in-law, Barbara Grossbauer of Petoskey; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, sister, Geraldine Mott of Texas; sister-in-law, Lee Streu of Lapeer; brother-in-law, Donald Nass of Metamora; many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend Twila Mercer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Grossbauer; son, William Grossbauer; baby daughter, Sandy Jean Grossbauer; parents, Lawrence and Bernice Streu; sisters, Shirley Rundell, Sharon Dahn, Dorothy Owens and Marjorie Nass; and brother, Ronald Streu.
