Lapeer

Ila M. Running, 85, of Lapeer, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003.
She was born July 19, 1917, in Lapeer, to Earl and Cora Belle (Moore) Stratton. She married Alfred W. Running on June 6, 1938, in Flint.
She worked as a cook for Maple Grove and Mayfield elementary schools, retiring in 1970. She was a member of Country Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling to Florida and loved her Tiger baseball. She was a lifetime resident of Lapeer.
She is survived by her children, Loren (Donna) Running of Lapeer, Rocky (Virginia) Running of Lapeer and Dennis (Lola) Running of Lapeer; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and sisters, Hilda Hazelwood of Lapeer, Ethel (Don) Bessette and Muriel (Jim) Thompson of North Branch.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred W. Running in 1996; parents and three brothers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Suncrest Auxiliary.
Funeral services were Saturday (March 15) at Country Christian Church, Lapeer. The Rev. Roger Keur officiated. Burial was in Stiles cemetery in Mayfield Township.

Charles M. Boyte
Died: Tuesday, March 11, 2003
Age: 72

Attica

Charles M. Boyte, Jr., 72, of Attica (formerly of Royal Oak), died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
He was born Nov. 21, 1930, in Highland Park. He married Elsie Riley in Royal Oak in 1971.
He served in the Navy during the Korean War and was a member of Acorn Post 1669 V.F.W. in Royal Oak. He was a finish bearing grinder, retiring from Pontiac Motors where he worked for 29 years.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Friday (March 14) at the Kinsey-Garrett Funeral Home, 420 S. Lafayette, Royal Oak. Burial was in Oakview cemetery, Royal Oak.

Chad Alan Wayne
Died: Tuesday, March 11, 2003
Age: 27

Lapeer

Chad Alan Wayne, 27, of Lapeer, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003.
He was born May 14, 1975, in Pontiac to Kenneth Wayne and Debora Davis.
He was an owner-operator of a landscaping- carpenter business. He enjoyed fishing. He loved people. He was a lifetime resident of Lapeer.
He is survived by his daughter, Destiney Renee Wayne; father, Kenneth (Loretta) Wayne of Lapeer; mother, Debora (David) Frankford of Holly; fiancˇ, Leslie Karns of Lapeer; sister, April Marie Fultz of Fenton; step-sister, Laurel Kay Baldwin of Lapeer; grandparents, Arthur (Beverly) Davis, Jr. of Lake Orion; three nieces and best friend-cousin, Jason Davis of Oxford.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard Elmo Wayne; and grandmother, Marlene Wayne.
A memorial service was held by the family.

Rose Marie Juip
Died: Monday, March 10, 2003
Age: 85

Imlay City

Rose Marie Juip, 85, of Imlay City died Monday, March 10, 2003, at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint.
She was born Nov. 26, 1917, in Ubly to John and Anastasia (Witucki) Kubacki. She married Lawrence Henry Juip on April 27, 1946, in Gaylord.
She lived in the Brown City area from 1957-1978, before moving to the Imlay City area where she lived for the past 25 years. She was employed as the treasurer of the Juip Sod Nursery, Imlay City, where she worked for the past 45 years since 1958. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brown City and the Lapeer County Farm Bureau.
She is survived by her son, Anthony (Cleta) Juip of Imlay City; grandchildren, Zachary Juip, Holly Juip and Lawren Rose Juip; brother, Floyd (Beverly) Kubacki; sisters, Frances (Curtis) Osentoski of Ubly, Irene Kubacki of Gaylord; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence in 1991; grandson, Robert in 1993; and brothers, Edward Kubacki, Joseph Kubacki, Stanley Kubacki, Paul Kubacki, John Kubacki and Frank Kubacki.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday (March 13) at St. Mary's Catholic Church, North Branch. The Rev. Lawrence Dunn will officiate. Burial will be in Arcadia Township cemetery, Lum.

Alice Peasley
Died: Monday, March 10, 2003
Age: 60

Lapeer

Alice Peasley, 60, of Lapeer, died Monday, March 10, 2003.
She was born May 15, 1942, in Lapeer to Orrie and Janetta (Allen) Smith. She married Robert Peasley on June 25, 1960, in Lapeer.
She was a longtime employee of Oakdale Center and the Matchbox card store in Lapeer. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling and being with family and her friends.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Peasley of Lapeer; children, Danella (Dale) Hawkins of Romeo, Robert (Tamala) Peasley Jr. of Lapeer and Brian (Donnal) Peasley of North Branch; grandchildren, Zachary Hawkins, Alexander Hawkins, Brian Ronald Peasley, Nathaniel Peasley, Devon Shane Peasley and Taylor Peasley; sisters, Jean Schueller of Florida, Gloria Howell of Florida and Beverly Uselton of Grand Haven.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orrie and Janetta Smith; and brothers, Allen Smith and Orrie Smith Jr.
Memorial contributions may be made to Genesys Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday (March 13, 2003) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Todd Smith will officiate.

North Branch

Jean Romain, 87, of North Branch, died Monday, March 10, 2003, at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
She was born June 18, 1915, in Ottawa, Canada, to Ernest and Gladys (Patterson) Reade.
She spent most of her childhood in Ottawa, Canada, and as a teenager moved to Detroit and attended high school there. She enjoyed reading, bowling (when her health permitted) and playing euchre on Friday afternoons with all of her friends. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in North Branch.
She is survived by her daughter, Vivian (Glenn) Bader of North Branch; brother, Donald (Noreen) Reade of Millington; grandchildren, Alan (Renaˇ) Bader, Teresa Bader and Thomas (Val) Bader, all of North Branch; great-grandchildren, Angela (Eric) Baker of Otter Lake, Melissa Caldwell of Midland, Jonathan Smith of North Branch and Cody, Hannah, Samantha and Felicia Bader, all of North Branch; great-great-grandchildren, Sierra and Chenoa Baker of Otter Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, George Reade; and sister, Joyce McRobb.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund.
Funeral services were Wednesday (March 12) at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home, North Branch. The Rev. Wayne Ferrigan officiated. Burial was in Westlawn cemetery.

Alice Diane Johnson

Columbiaville

Alice Diane Johnson, 57, of Columbiaville, died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at Harper Hospital in Detroit.
She was born April 2, 1945, in Flint to Anson and Florence (Tebo) Nutt . She married John Johnson on Nov. 1, 1962, in Lapeer.
She worked at the Lapeer Kmart for over 15 years and Meridian in Lapeer until it closed in 2002. She enjoyed crocheting and playing on the computer. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband, John; sons, Jon (Darlene), Roy, Joseph and Robert, all of Columbiaville; sisters, Mary (Ron) DeMott and Margaret Putnam, both of Mio, and Marsha (Harry) Straffon of Columbiaville; and grandchildren, Mike, Chris and John.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother Albert.
Memorial contributions may be made to Suncrest Nursing Home or the family.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, (March 13), at Jansen Family Funeral Home, Columbiaville.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Jansen Family Funeral Home. The Rev. Ron DeMott will officiate. Cremation will follow the services.

Patrick Allan Stroman
Died: Saturday, March 08, 2003
Age: 45

Tucson, Arizona

Lt. Col. Patrick Allan Stroman, 45, of Tucson, Arizona, died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at Tucson Medical Center.
He was born June 27, 1957, in Lapeer, to Austin and Nancy (Owens) Stroman. He married LeAnn Heeke on Aug. 26, 1983, in Lakeshore.
He graduated from Imlay City High School in 1975. He attended St. Clair County Community College, earned a bachelor's degree in history at Eastern Michigan University and earned his master's degree in public administration-personnel management from Ball State University. He served in the Air Force for nearly 23 years. He was stationed at Grisson AFB in Indiana, was chief of network operations at Maxwell AFB and most recently was chief of surveillance operations at Davis Monthan AFB in Tuscon, Ariz.
He is survived by his wife, LeAnn; children, Kiley and Austin "A.J.," both of Tuscon; parents, Austin and Nancy of Imlay City; mother-in-law, Phyllis Heeke of Imlay City; brother, Charles (Jill); sister, Terri (Jon Haynes); grandparents, Flora Owens, Marion Swailes and Mary Stroman; special nephews and nieces, Andy, McKay and Patti Jo Stroman Haynes; brothers-in-law, William, John, Carl, Tom, Bryan and Donald Heeke; sisters-in-law, Liz Stanton, Carol Heeke and Jennifer Webb; several aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Doyle Owens, Art Swailes and Zack Stroman.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Thursday (March 13) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday (March 14) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Imlay City. The Rev. Douglas Terrien will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Calvary cemetery, Imlay City.
