Irene Pearl Mackay, 84, of Sebring, Fla., died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003.
She was born Aug. 3, 1918, in Port Huron.
She was an avid golfer, a great bowler, seamstress, she loved to fish, play cards and enjoyed bingo.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert M. MacKay; children, Betty McComb of Davison, Margaret (Mel) Tosch of Yuma, Ariz., Judy (Garth) McComb of Lapeer, Norman (Cindi) of Ponte Vedra, Fla; grandchildren, Bob and Russ McComb of Lapeer, Greg Tosch, Cheryl Simms, Teresa Frey, Garth McComb II., Tracie Miracle, Terry McComb, Lexie, Ally and Maisie; 11 great-grandchildren, sisters, Rose Jones, Viola Spencer and Dolly Darby; brother, Albert Kota; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cypress Village Alzheimer Unit, 4600 East Middleton Park Circle, Jacksonville, FL 32224.
A memorial service was Sunday (March 2) at Southpoint Community Church. The Rev. Russ Austin officiated.

Doris Hewitt
Died: Wednesday, February 26, 2003
Age: 64

Fostoria

Doris Hewitt, 64, of Fostoria, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003 at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
She was born June 7, 1938, in Mayville to Peter and Hedwig (Galda) Baber. She married Ajay Hewitt on March 31, 1957. in Lapeer.
She graduated from Mayville High School in 1956, and attended Eastern Michigan College of Commerce in Port Huron and West Deerfield United Methodist Church. She enjoyed canning, gardening and loved animals.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ajay of Fostoria; brother, Edward Baber of Fostoria; sisters, Dorothy Rose of Clio and Mary (Ronald) Lyden of Mount Morris; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Joseph, Leo and Bernard Baber.
Funeral services were Friday (Feb. 28) at Avram Funeral Home, Mayville.

Loretta Martus
Died: Monday, February 24, 2003
Age: 93

Grand Rapids

Loretta (Kreiner) Martus, 93, of Grand Rapids, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003.
She was the eldest of 15 children, grew up in Burnside and lived most of her life in Lapeer. She was a registered nurse and earned her master's degree in psychiatric nursing from Wayne State University. She worked for the state Department of Health for 40 years, before retiring from nursing. She enjoyed many varied interests, among them gardening, traveling and visiting her large family. She spent a great deal of time and travel in documenting family genealogy.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Johnston of Castro Valley, Calif., and JoAnne (Walter) Rowen of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Jeff, Tracy, Bryan, Lynda, Lisa, Dan, Denise, Nadine, Rene, Laura, Karen and Gary; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Carl (Evelyn) Clare, Catherine Ruhlman, Lee (Pauline) Barton and Jack (Elizabeth); sisters-in-law, Mary Kreiner and Rita Kreiner; and brother-in-law, Ward DeKett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; son, Raymond; and siblings, Viola Graham, Gertrude Ring, Anthony, Mary Listwak, Paul, Donald and Regina DeKett.
Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday (March 14) at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 5622 Summers Road, Burnside.
Arrangements by Reyers North Valley Chapel, Grand Rapids.

Charles Kile
Died: Monday, February 24, 2003
Age: 83

Millersburg/ North Branch

Charles Kile, 83, of Millersburg-North Branch, died Feb. 24, 2003.
He was born Aug. 5, 1919, in Lapeer County, to Willard and Arillia (Hickmott) Kile. He married Annie Jane Barber in 1941. They were formerly of North Branch, having moved to Millersburg nine years ago. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 653. He retired from General Motors.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Jane; children, Donna Gooden, Phyllis Hoock, Ronald D. (Sandie), David (friend, Rose Labeau); 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were Saturday (March 1) at Baird-Newton Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. David G. Hill officiated. Burial was in Rich Township cemetery.

Alfred Seaman
Died: Monday, February 24, 2003
Age: 97

Metamora

Alfred Seaman, 97, of Metamora, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at home.
He was born Oct. 22, 1905 in Detroit.
He lived most of his life in the Detroit area. He was employed as a rigger for Iron Workers Local 25, retiring in 1972. He lived for sometime in Leonard before moving to Metamora. He was a member of Blazing Star Masonic Lodge 565, now Signet Star 555 and Metamora-Hadley 2100. He was a member of Boulevard Congregational Church, Detroit and Immanuel Congregational UCC in Oxford. He attended the Leonard and Oxford Senior Citizen Centers. At the Oxford Senior Center he called the bingo games.
He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Theresa; daughters, Loraine Smykla of Livonia and Beverly (George) Sivertson of Metamora; grandchildren, Michael Smykla, Robert (Alicia) Smykla, Joseph (Brenda) Smykla, Alice (John) Van Allen, Ronald (Christine) Sivertson ane Randall (Annette) Sivertson; 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Congregational United Church of Christ.
Funeral services were Thursday (Feb. 27) at Bossardet Chapel Lynch and Sons Funeral Directors. The Rev. Karen Moeschberger officiated. Burial was in Woodmere cemetery, Detroit.

Leone Walton
Died: Monday, February 24, 2003
Age: 95

Imlay City

Leone Walton, 95, of Imlay City, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003.
She was born March 8, 1907, in Cassopolis, to Fred and Sarah (Corwin) McIntyre. She graduated from Cassopolis High School in 1924. She married Mark H. "Pat" Herrington on Sept. 2, 1933, in Indiana. She later married Harold Walton on Feb. 6, 1971, in Imlay City.
She worked at Mulhull-Erb Lumber in Imlay City, General Telephone in Swartz Creek and at Imlay City State Bank. She was a member of Imlay City United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Imlay City Order of Eastern Star, Almont Friendship Club, Co-op Extension Study Club, Flint Travel Club, Lapeer County Historical Society, Great Lakes Bio-Regional Land Conservancy and the Almont and Imlay City Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her daughters, Genevieve (Leo) Dorr of Lapeer and Geraldine Coldwater of Mount Morris; grandchildren, Patrick "Dan" Herrington, Kimberly Moon Ito, Kathryn Moon Prevatt, Grai Joseph, Shannan Joseph Kain, Dana Joseph, Nathan Joseph, Anthony Ward, Andrew Ward, Ann Herrington Moore, Daniel Herrington and Samuel Herrington; step-son, Robert (Betty) Walton of Almont; step-daughters, Gloria (Al) Kaflik of Utica and Helen Eschenburg of Almont; many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark "Pat" Herrington on June 9, 1965; husband, Harold Walton on Feb. 18, 1986; son, Thomas Mark Herrington; daughter, Patricia Ann Herrington; parents, Fred and Sarah McIntyre; brothers, Clare McIntyre, Lenord McIntyre and James McIntyre; and sister, Kathryn Stutsman.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Imlay City United Methodist Church or United Methodist Women.
Funeral services were Wednesday (Feb. 26) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. The Rev. Kevin Harbin officiated. Burial was in Imlay Township cemetery, Imlay City.

Madeline Stuewer
Died: Monday, February 24, 2003
Age: 88

Lapeer

Madeline Stuewer, 88, of Lapeer (formerly of North Branch), died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003.
She was born March 6, 1914, in Lapeer to Herb and Grace (Starkey) Watz. She married Carl Stuewer on Jan. 22, 1934, in Lapeer.
She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Rebekah's. She enjoyed bowling, cards, bingo, golf, crocheting, knitting and loved to eat.
She is survived by her children, Naomi (George) Wilson of Lapeer, Pauline (William) Weston Prudenville, Robert (Dian) Stuewer of North Branch and Raymond (Shirley) Stuewer of Lapeer; many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Stuewer in 1987; sons-in-law, Jack Miller and Norm Caughey; grandchildren, Barbara Lusk and Frances West; parents and siblings, Bernard Watz, Paul Watz, Kathleen Seames and Bill Watz.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or Suncrest Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday (Feb. 27) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Arnold Bracy will officiate. Burial will be in Stiles cemetery in Mayfield Township.

Cornelius VanDoeselaar
Died: Monday, February 24, 2003
Age: 79

Imlay City

Cornelius "Corny" VanDoeselaar, 79, of Imlay City, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at Marlette Hospice.
He was born Aug. 13, 1923, in Zaamslag, Netherlands, to James and Levina (Buyze) VanDoeselaar. He moved to the United States when he was 3 years old. He graduated from Imlay City High School in 1941 and lived in the Imlay City area for over 50 years. He served in the military during the Korean War. He was a self-employed vegetable farmer. He was very athletic and enjoyed bowling, softball, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Wielsma of Imlay City, Catherine Mulder of Imlay City, Lucille Winslow of Imlay City, Marie (Robert) Vlieg of Jenison and Lavina VanDoeselaar of Imlay City; sisters-in-law, Dorothy VanDoeselaar of Imlay City and Betty VanDoeselaar of Imlay City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Levina VanDoeselaar; brothers, Jake, Pete and James; and sister, Maude Meyer.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Reformed Church Building Fund or United Hospice of Marlette.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 27) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. The Rev. Ken VanderHorst will officiate. Burial will be in Imlay Township cemetery, Imlay City.

James L. Loudermilk
Died: Sunday, February 23, 2003
Age: 68

North Branch

James L. Loudermilk, 68, of North Branch (formerly of Ferndale and Madison Heights), died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2003, at home with his family, after a four-year battle with lung and brain cancer.
He was born March 21, 1934, to Elmer and Wilma (Cross) Loudermilk. He married Barbara A. Evans on Nov. 6, 1954.
He spent his first 20 years living in Ferndale. He graduated from Lincoln High School in the Class of 1952. On March 18, 1957, he joined the Army. He served in Korea, New Mexico, Alaska and at Selfridge Air Base where he received an honorable discharge in 1962. He was employed with Cargill Detroit Corporation in Clawson for 24 years. He worked as a machinist, builder, job leader and foreman. He retired in August 1997. He traveled all over the U.S. and Europe for the company. He was a member of the Hazel Park Church of Christ. He loved to golf, hunt and fish. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara of North Branch; sons, Kenneth (Sue) of Hazel Park and Gregory (Anna) of North Branch; grandchildren, Crystal, Gregory J., Remi J. and Amber; brothers, Bill (Marguerite) of McMinnville, Tenn., and Dale (Kim) of Estell Springs, Tenn; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Lapeer County Hospice in memory of James L. Loudermilk.
Funeral services were Saturday (March 1) at Hopcroft Funeral Home, Hazel Park. Burial was in Christian Memorial cemetery, Rochester Hills.
