Charles "Bub" Herman Pingel, 62, of Helena, Okla., died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2003.
He was born Feb. 8, 1941, in Lapeer, to Charles and Doris (Bigelow) Pingel.
He attended Lapeer Community Schools and later joined the Army. He also worked in several small factories throughout the county.
He is survived by his daughter, Loraine (Jerry) Edgett of Davison; son, Allen (Michelle) of Flint; grandchildren, Jeri Lynn, Jack, Josh, Devon, Hailey, Justin, Lindsey and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Wynter and Valice; father, Charles of Hudson, Fla.; brothers, Jim (Nancy) of Hudson, Fla., and Jerry of Hudson, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris; and brother, Wayne.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
There is no service planned at this time. Burial was in McLester, Okla.
Gary Gordon Dahn

Gary Gordon Dahn, 54, of Imlay City, died Sunday (Feb. 23, 2003) at home.
He was born April 4, 1948, in Almont to Gordon and Pauline "Pat" (Moore) Dahn.
He lived most of his life in the Imlay City area. He was a member of the Imlay City High School graduating Class of 1966. He had been employed by Ford Motor Proving Ground in Romeo as a test driver for over 24 years. He was a member of the Imlay City Eagles.
He is survived by his son, Garrett (Jennifer) Dahn of Lapeer; daughter, Nicole Dahn of Ortonville; grandson, Bryan Dahn; father, Gordon Dahn of Imlay City; and sister, Janet (Howard) Richmond of Lum.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline "Pat" Dahn; infant sister, Bonnie Lynn Dahn; and infant brother, Dale Dahn.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Thursday (Feb. 27) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday (Feb. 28) at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Imlay City. The Rev. Alan Casillas will officiate.

Phyllis M. Warner

Imlay City
Phyllis M. Warner, 81, of Imlay City (formerly of Almont), died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility.
She was born July 19, 1921 in Peoria, Ariz. She married Harold Ray Warner on Nov. 19, 1945, in Las Vegas, Nev.
She had been employed by the First National Bank of Lapeer (Metamora Branch). She was also the bank vice president, retiring in 1987 after 22 years of service. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Lapeer, Suncrest Auxiliary and the Almont Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her daughters, Lavern Warner of Lapeer and Kathleen (Tom) Giles of Almont; grandchildren, Christopher (Angela) Ashbrook, Matthew (Linda) Ashbrook, Charlotte Giles, Charles Giles and Shawne Guerrero; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Ashbrook, Kerby Wakefield, Jessie Waider, Nicki Waider, Anthony Giles, Christopher Giles, Alexandria Giles, Michael Guerrero, Kyle Guerrero and Charles Giles; brothers, Hubert (Erlene) Starr of Topock, Ariz., and Charles (Cathie) Starr of Waldamar, Calif.; brother-in-law, Charles Warner of Almont; sister-in-law, Lucy Warner of Almont; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold on Jan. 17, 1991; parents, Laverne and Etta Mae Starr; and sister, Kathleen Vivian.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Suncrest Auxiliary or Suncrest Building Fund.
Funeral services were Tuesday (Feb. 25) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. The Rev. Steven Dewey of Grace Episcopal Church, Lapeer, officiated. Burial was in Mount Pleasant cemetery, Dryden.

Gary Wolding
Died: Friday, February 21, 2003
Tampa, Florida
Gary Wolding, 55, of Tampa, Fla., died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, due to a traffic accident.
He was a native of Amherst, Wis., moved to Michigan in 1955 and attended the public schools in Lapeer. He served in the Army from 1968-1970, including a tour in Vietnam. He received a bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University and his Juris Doctorate from Thomas N. Cooley Law School, Lansing, in 1983. He moved his family to Tampa where he practiced transactional law. The past several years he was semi-retired. He was deeply loved by his family and many friends, and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Karen; sons, Jonathon and Nicholas; daughter, Michele; mother, Geraldine; brothers, Leon of Tampa, John (Susan) of Weekie Wachee, Fla., and Lyle (Judy) of Lutz, Fla.; uncles and aunts , Herbert (Evelyn) Wolding of Nelsonville, Glen (June) Whiting of Thomson, Ill., and Harold (Leona) Whiting; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Manfred Wolding in 1996.
Lois Lake

North Branch
Lois Lake, 85, of North Branch, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2003, at the Briarwood Manor in Flint.
She was born Dec. 17, 1917, in Marlette to Willard and Ethel (Caldwell) Chase.
She graduated from North Branch High School. She was a lifelong resident of North Branch, the North Branch Eastern Star Chapter 149 and the North Branch United Methodist Church. She was a playground aide for a couple of years. She liked to crochet, read and play cards with friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Arlene of Davison; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Morris; brother, Robert; and nephews, Willard and Bill.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the North Branch Thrift Shop.
Funeral services were Sunday (Feb. 23) at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home, North Branch. The Rev. Wayne Ferrigan officiated. Burial was in Maple Grove cemetery.

Neil James McGraw, 39, of Clover, S.C., died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2003, in Clover, S.C.
He was a longtime employee of Dr. Jeffery Harris.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; sons, Anthony and Zackery; mother, Pauline; step-dad, Herb Gruenewald of Burton; sister, Kelly Adkins; niece, Amy Spade; nephew, Colin Adkins of York, S.C.; and cousins, Cindy (Don) Leavy of Grand Blanc and Amy VanderVelden of Denver, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jere; grandparents and niece, Heather Spade.

Joyce H. Reed

Joyce R. Reed, 74, of Lapeer, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003.
She was born Feb. 15, 1929, in Pontiac, to Owen and Leona (Wolgast) Reed.
She was a nurse's aid for Upjohn Health Care in Flint for 15 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Dan) McMullen of Branson, Mo.; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild; mother, Leona Reed of Clearwater, Fla., and Lapeer; siblings, Donna Reed of Clearwater, Fla., and Lapeer, Roger Reed of West Branch, Tom (Virginia) Reed of Lapeer and Gerald Reed of Lafayette, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Owen Reed; sister, Shirley Winafeld; and sister, Carol Reed, who died Feb. 20, 2003.
The family is planning a Memorial Service at a later date. Burial was in Attica Township cemetery, Attica.

Fred Griffith

Fred Griffith, 69, of Lapeer (formerly of Warren and Tennessee), died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003.
He was born June 24, 1933, in Rives, Tenn., to Willie and Stella (Akers) Griffith. He married Burnis Thompson on March 23, 1985.
He was a graduate of Palmersville High School in Tennessee, class of 1951. He was a die maker for Chrysler Corp. for 33 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member and served as elder and educational director at Lapeer Church of Christ. He worked extensively with the youth of his churches, including Van Dyke Church of Christ, Royal Oak Church of Christ and Lapeer Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Burnis Griffith of Lapeer; children, Dean (Dolly) Griffith of Rochester Hills, Tom (Vickie) Griffith of Knoxville, Tenn., and Freda (Dave) Wright of Lapeer; step-children, Janice Brannon of Alabaster, Ala., and Michael (Dawn) Thompson of South Lyon; grandchildren, Shelly, Sherry, Chris, Benjamin, Rachel, Adam, Rebecca, Tommy, Heather, Lauren and Lindsey; four great-grandchildren and sisters, Dorothy Morris of Cape Coral, Fla., Janice Cutler of Memphis, Tenn., Anita (Donald) Prince of Fraser and Cheryl (Michael) Kennedy of Harvest, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nila in 1984; and his parents.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to LADS to Leaders and Leaderettes.
Funeral services were Tuesday (Feb. 25) at Lapeer Church of Christ. Minister Jerry Tallman officiated. Burial was in Christian Memorial cemetery, Rochester Hills.
