Jerry H. Stevens, 68, of Lapeer (formerly of Flint) died Dec. 3, 2002.
He was born Oct. 31, 1934, to Wojciech and Emma (Raulin) Sokolowski.
He was a machine repairman for Chrysler and General Motors, retiring in 2001. He also owned and operated the All New Limo Co. He served in the Air Force.
He is survived by his daughter, Debra (Bill) Lanham of Eggefield, S.C.; special friend, Mary Romine and her family of Lapeer; brother, Richard (Linda) Stevens of Lansing; and niece, Lisa Stevens of Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services wereFriday (Dec. 6) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Janusz Iwan officiated. Burial was in Mount Hope cemetery, Lapeer.

Shaun Michael Day
Died: Tuesday, December 03, 2002
Age: 23

Caro

Shaun Michael Day, 23, of Goodrich (formerly of Caro), died Tuesday (Dec. 3, 2002) at the Goodrich Hospice Center of Goodrich.
He was born March 1, 1979, in Buford, S.C., to Connie (Bill) McAdams and Bruce (Beckie) Day.
He lived in the Caro area before moving to Goodrich.
He is survived by his mother, Connie; stepfather, Bill McAdams of Lapeer; father, Bruce; stepmother, Beckie Day of Caro; brother, Joseph Day of Caro; stepsister, Jessica Day of Caro; stepbrothers, Dustin and Cody McAdams-Marcicki; grandparents, Bev and Al Provoast of Whittemore; Bill and Eula Day of Davison; great grandmother Edith Provoast of Whittemore; aunt, Sedwyn Day of Davison; aunt, Reva; uncle, Mike Kidd of Otisville; nephews, Tyler and Christian Day; several cousins, extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his uncle, Terry Provoast; grandparents, Ralph and Cathern Alt; grandfather, Garfield Provoast.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Goodrich Hospice Center, the Hemophiliac Foundation or the Aids Foundation.
Funeral services were Friday (Dec. 6) at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington. The. Rev. Robert Cholette officiated. Burial was in Smith Hill cemetery in Otisville. Arrangements by Hanlin Funeral Home, Millington.

Raymond J. Kohler
Died: Monday, December 02, 2002
Age: 43

Brighton

Raymond J. Kohler, 43, of Brighton, died Monday (Dec. 2, 2002) at Providence Hospital in Southfield, following a lengthy illness.
He was born Feb. 11, 1959, in Michigan, to Leo and Marion Kohler. He married Carlene Pesonen on Feb. 10, 1996, in Brighton.
He and his wife made Brighton their home. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Brighton. He was employed with Bank One of Ann Arbor as an investment consultant.
He is survived by his wife, Carlene of Brighton; step-daughter, Katy Murphy of Brighton; son, Joseph Kohler of Royal Oak; parents, Leo and Marion Kohler of Brown City; and sisters, Anne Kohler of Frankenmuth and Janice Diebolt of Carmel, Ind.
Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Social Services.
Funeral Mass was Wednesday (Dec. 4) at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Brighton. The Rev. Dan J. McKean was the celebrant.

Jamie Lynn Mason
Died: Monday, December 02, 2002
Age: 22

Mayville

Jamie Lynn Mason, 22, of Mayville, died Monday (Dec. 2, 2002) at McLaren Medical Center in Flint, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born June 7, 1980, in Pontiac to Ronald and Lori Benedict.
She graduated from Lapeer West High School. She liked animals, especially horses and cats.
She is survived by her husband, Jeremy Mason of Mayville; parents, Ronald and Lori Benedict of Mayville; sister, Andrea (Ryan) Garner of Fairbury, Ill.; nephew, Ramsey Garner of Fairbury, Ill.; in-laws, Bonnye Mason of Otter Lake, Lester (Teresa) Mason of Oxford; brothers-in-law, Jonathan Mason of Otter Lake and Joseph Mason of Oxford; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Mason of Oxford and Erin Mason of Oxford; grandparents, Virginia Stachowicz of Holly, Milton (Lois) Riemenschneider of Wisconsin, Martha (Bob) Baldwin of Roscommon; and many loving friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Roni Jean Benedict.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or the American Cancer Society for Breast Research.
Funeral services were Thursday (Dec. 5) at the Caro First Baptist Church, Caro. The Rev. Gerald Sims of the New Hope Missionary Church in Lapeer officiated.

Glenn D. Barnhart
Died: Monday, December 02, 2002
Age: 87

Lapeer

Glenn D. Barnhart, 87, of Lapeer, died Monday (Dec. 2, 2002).
He was born October 14, 1915, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, to Frank and O. Edna (Delaney) Barnhart. He married Alma Lee Currence on Jan. 1, 1939, in Wheeling, W.Va.
He taught secondary education at Oxford Christian Academy. He was a member of Hunters Creek Community Church. He loved to tutor students in and around the Lapeer and Oxford area, including students from Lapeer Probate Court.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Lee Barnhart of Lapeer; children, Glenn (Cynthia) Barnhart Jr. of Pinkney, James (Carolyne) Barnhart of Lake Orion and Robert (Amy) Barnhart of South Lyon; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Grace Schaum, Mildred Douglas and Kathleen Barnhart.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hunters Creek Community Church Building Fund or Parkinson Foundation.
Visitation was Wednesday (Dec. 4) and 1-8 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 5) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday (Dec. 6) at Hunters Creek Community Church, Lapeer. The. Rev. Peter DeKlerk will officiate. Burial will be in Hunters Creek cemetery.

Jamar Matthew Benson

Imlay City

Jamar Matthew Benson, 12, of Imlay City, died Monday (Dec. 2, 2002) at Lapeer Regional Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 9, 1990, in Detroit to Patrick and Valerie Benson.
He lived most of his life in Imlay City.
He is survived by his parents, Patrick and Valerie of Imlay City; brothers, Hayes (Jaime) of Imlay City, Seth of Burton, Robert (Rachel) of Davison and Isaiah of Imlay City; sisters, Kristin (Lonny) Hill of Imlay City, Erin (Michael) Spicer of Swartz Creek, Sharonda of Imlay City and Tyreena of Imlay City; grandparent, Marie Blankenship of Warren; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Wednesday (Dec. 4) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 5) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. The Rev. Thomas Blount will officiate. Burial will be in Imlay Township cemetery, Imlay City.

John W. Beattie Jr.
Died: Sunday, December 01, 2002
Age: 80

Columbiaville

John W. Beattie Jr., of Columbiaville, died Sunday (Dec. 1, 2002).
He was born Feb. 2, 1922, in Waterford to John Sr. and Ruth Ann (Campbell) Beattie. He married Maxine Lee Miller on November 25, 1944, in Lapeer.
He was a farmer. He was a welder- mechanic, owning and operating the Beatties' Spring and Welding for 20 years. He attended the German United Methodist Church where he was very involved, helping with the ice cream socials. He was a very active member of the Lapeer Masonic Lodge 54. He taught welding at Mott Community College Skill Center. Years ago he was a 4-H Leader and had a Boy Scout Troop.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Beattie of Columbiaville; children, Linda Ann (Allan) VanBrocklin of Columbiaville, John (Trina) Beattie of Columbiaville, Mary (Raymond) Seymour of Flint and Matthew (Kathleen) Beattie of Davison; 17 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marjorie (Jack) Fernee of Indian River, Edwin (Kathleen) Beattie of Hale and Dorothy (Kerr) Stewart of East Lansing; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
A Masonic memorial service was Tuesday (Dec. 3).
Funeral services were Wednesday (Dec. 4) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Jim Paige officiated. Burial was in Oregon Township cemetery.

Roni Jean Benedict
Died: Saturday, November 30, 2002
Age: 20

Mayville

Roni Jean Benedict, 20, of Mayville, died Saturday (Nov. 30, 2002) following complications resulting from an automobile accident.
She was born Nov. 21, 1982, in Pontiac, to Ronald and Lori Benedict.
She was a 2000 graduate of Lapeer West High School. She attended Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, and then received an associate's degree in art from Mott Community College in Flint.
She is survived by her parents, Ronald and Lori Benedict of Mayville; sister, Andrea (Ryan) Garner of Fairbury, Ill.; brother-in-law, Jeremy Mason of Mayville; nephew, Ramsey Garner of Fairbury, Ill.; grandparents, Virginia Stachowicz of Holly and Milton (Lois) Riemenschneider of Wisconsin; many loving friends and family.
Her sister, Jamie Mason, died on Monday (Dec. 2), from injuries sustained in the same accident.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or the American Cancer Society for Breast Research.
