Mary Kilbreath Barton, 90, of Imlay City, died Saturday (Nov. 30, 2002) at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility after an extended illness..
She was born Mary Kubik on Sept. 8, 1912, in Chicago, Ill. She married Howard E. Kilbreath in 1932. He died in 1982. She then married Paul Milliken Barton.
She lived most of her life in Imlay City. She was employed at Vlasics Foods of Imlay City and Hurd Lock in Almont. She retired from Vlasic Foods after 20 years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapeer and Imlay City V.F.W. Auxiliary.
She is survived by her sons, Howard Kilbreath of Imlay City and David Kilbreath of Imlay City; and grandson, Ian Albert Gaspar of Hawaii.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Kilbreath; and second husband, Paul M. Barton; daughter, Susan Marie Kilbreath; and brother, Stephen Kubik.
Funeral services were Wednesday (Dec. 4) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. The Rev. Colin Stover officiated. Burial was in Imlay Township cemetery, Imlay City.

Della B. Spencer
Died: Saturday, November 30, 2002
Age: 75

Lapeer

Della B. Spencer, of Lapeer, died Saturday (Nov. 30, 2002.
She was born May 27, 1927, in Malden, Mo., to George and Dulsa Brown. The family moved to Michigan when she was 9. She spent her childhood in the Pontiac area. She was working for Krogers when she met Joe Spencer. They married on Dec. 7, 1957.
They moved to Lapeer in 1970. She began selling real estate at J.L. Gardner and Associates. She was a million dollar producer from her first year and joined the Marge Knapp Real Estate office in the late 1970s. After the death of Knapp, she opened her own office with the H.J. Wilson name in 1982 in a small office on Park Street. She soon outgrew that office and purchased the house at the corner of South Main and Turrill. She received the Chamber of Commerce Beautification Award in 1984 for her efforts in revitalizing the property. Della Spencer and Associates, Realtors was the top producer in sales for many years. She was always very proud of her associates who were honest and hard working gals. Her awards and office awards lined the walls in the office along with her associates' awards. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapeer, the Lapeer County Board of Realtors and the Lapeer Area Chamber of Commerce. She was a generous contributor to the Lapeer Area Hospice. She always loved the White Elephant Sale she instigated at the Lapeer County Board of Realtors Christmas parties.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph A. Spencer; daughters, Cindy (Mike) Wills of Minocqua, Wis., Linda (special friend, Joe Guinn) of Hernado County, Fla., andWendy (special friend, Darrin June) of Lapeer; son, Michael (Kim) Spencer of Jackson; grandchildren, Kimberly Roszczewski of Minocqua, Wis., Brian (Heather) Hazelett of Fort Atkinson, Wis., Christopher and Ashley Spencer of Jackson; great grandchildren, Lindsay and Lacey Spencer of Lapeer, Libby, Tori, and Trevor Roszczewski of Minocqua, Wis., Jameson, Coty and Jacob Hazelett of Ft. Atkinson, Wis.; sisters, Rosalind Wahl of West Branch and Violet Riley of Whittemore; brother, George (Frances) Brown of Groveland, Fla.; cousin, Barbara (Sherman) Ellis of Sebastian, Fla.; many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dulsa (O'Neal) Brown; sister, Imogene (Jean) Stevens; brothers-in-law, Boyd Riley, Chris Stevens and Maurice Wahl.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Lapeer Area Hospice or the Lapeer Goodfellows.
Funeral services wereWednesday (Dec. 4) at Trinity United Methodist Church.

Robert J. Jannereth
Died: Saturday, November 30, 2002
Age: 85

Metamora

Robert J. Jannereth, 85, of Metamora (formerly of Tavares, Fla.), died Saturday (Nov. 30, 2002).
He was born Oct. 2, 1917, in Grand Rapids to Menzo and Martha (Velding) Jannereth. He married Jessie A. Estelle on June 6, 1936.
He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a woodworker in his own home.He also worked for an Ohio saw shop that repaired and sharpened machinery. He was a woodworker and loved to build things, particularly grandfather clocks. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was an elder at Mid-Lakes Christian Church in Leesburg, Fla.
He is survived by his children, Robert (Jacki) Jannereth of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Bonnie (Chuck) Schiedegger of Metamora; grandchildren, Cindi (Fred) Stemas of Payton, Colo., Amy (Lee) of Fulton, S.D., Christopher (Samantha) Jannereth of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jeff Schiedegger of Ann Arbor, Kim (Mark) Pytleski of Allenton, Debi (Mark) Fosmoen of Brighton and Alana Schiedegger of Lapeer; great grandchildren, Chelsea, Michael, Jon, Matt, Jack, John, Michael, Tyler, Nicole, Zacari, Camron, Nolan, Riley and Jake; and siblings, Jack Jannereth of Grand Rapids, Dorothy Hoorn of Grand Rapids, Margie Mayden of Grand Rapids and Gerald Jannereth of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Jannereth in 2001; parents; and brother, Lester Jannereth.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, The Lapeer Fund or the United Way.
Funeral services were Wednesday (Dec. 4) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Terry Euper officiated.

Harry Grossbauer
Died: Saturday, November 30, 2002
Age: 88

Metamora

Harry Grossbauer, 88, of Metamora, died Saturday (Nov. 30, 2002).
He was born Nov. 26, 1914, in Metamora to Carl and Edna (Watkins) Grossbauer. He married Betty J. Streu on March 15, 1941, in Lapeer.
He was a dozer operator for the Lapeer County Road Commission for 24 years. He graduated from the Lapeer High School, Class of 1933. He was very active in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He liked to travel, go fishing and camping with family and friends. He was a member of the Elba United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Grossbauer of Metamora; children, Beverly Misener of Lapeer, James (Sue) Grossbauer of Metamora; daughter-in-law, Barbara Grossbauer of Petoskey; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Donald Nass of Metamora; sisters-in-law, Thelma Streu of Lapeer, Geraldine Mott of Lapeer; two neices and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bill Grossbauer; baby daughter, Sandra Jean Grossbauer; parents; and siblings, Donald Grossbauer and Onalee Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elba United Methodist Church or Lapeer Area Hospice.
An I.O.O.F. memorial service was Monday (Dec. 2).
Funeral services were Tuesday (Dec. 3) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Jim Paige officiated. Burial was in Stiles cemetery, Lapeer.

Valma Elizabeth Grossbauer
Died: Saturday, November 30, 2002
Age: 88

Valma Elizabeth Grossbauer, 88, of Lapeer, died Saturday (Nov. 30, 2002) at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
She was born Dec. 24, 1913, in Novesta to Orrin and Margaret Montgomery.
She enjoyed camping, gardening, flea markets and listening to her family's deer hunting stories. She enjoyed going to the fireworks in Mio while camping with her family.
She is survived by her sons, Francis (Frances) of Lapeer, Keith (Sharon) of Lapeer and Larry of Lapeer; grandchildren, Terry, Gary, Darlene, Debbie, Dean, Denise, Cathy, Dawn, Doug, Lori and James; great-grandchildren, Allison, Justin, Anne, Matt, Amber, Glenn, Nathan, Jacob, Zachary, John, Chris, Mike, Carrie, David, Tom, Averie, and Sarah; great great-grandchild, Savanna; and sister, Elsie Bennett of Chaudrant, La.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn; granddaughter, Anne; sisters, Jessie, Alice and Betty; and brothers, Roy, Carl, Harrison, Earl and Orrin.
Funeral services were Wednesday (Dec. 4) at Baird Newton Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Starr will officiate. Burial will be in Stiles cemetery.

Jerry Darrin
Died: Saturday, November 30, 2002
Age: 59

Lapeer

Jerry Darrin, 59, of Lapeer (formerly of Lake Orion), died Saturday (Nov. 30, 2002).
He was born Nov. 20, 1943, in Bolivar, N.Y., to Richard and Ruby (Sisson) Darrin. He married Darlene Fountaine on March 21, 1964, in Waterford.
He worked for 30 years at General Motors, retiring in 1991. He enjoyed hunting, painting and carving.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Darrin of Lapeer; children, Teresa Lynn Darrin of Lapeer, Scott Jerrod Darrin of Oxford and Shawn Jeramie Darrin of Lapeer; grandchildren, Amanda, Felicia and Bryce; and brothers, Richard Darrin of Lake Orion, David Darrin of Syracuse, N.Y., Gene Darrin of Bolivar, N.Y., and Randy Darrin of Bolivar, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lapeer Area Hospice, 237 Davis Lake Road, Lapeer 48446.
The family has chosen cremation.

Richard O. Dierschow
Died: Friday, November 29, 2002
Age: 75

Port St. Lucie

Richard O. Dierschow, 75, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., died Nov. 29, 2002.
He was born in Elgin, Ill. He moved to Imlay City, then later moved to Port St. Lucie, where he had been a resident for 15 years. He was a design engineer for Chrysler in Highland Park for 30 years. He was a Navy veteran and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Imlay City. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Imlay City.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joyce Dierschow of Port St. Lucie; daughters, Claudia Larson of Imlay City and Vanessa Abate of Clarkston; son, Scott Dierschow of Imlay City; brother, Phillip Dierschow of Elgin, Ill.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1111 S. Federal Hwy., Suite 222, Stuart, Fla. 34994.
Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 19) at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 200 N. Cedar St., Imlay City.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Imlay City.

Pauline L. Dahn
Died: Friday, November 29, 2002
Age: 80

Imlay City

Pauline "Pat" L. Dahn, 80, of Imlay City died Friday (Nov. 29, 2002) at Lapeer Regional Hospital after a short illness.
She was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Lapeer. She married Gordon Harry Dahn on May 29, 1943, in Lapeer.
She was employed by the Imlay City Post Office and the A&P store. She worked at Hurd Lock in Almont during World War II. She was a member of Lapeer High School's Class of 1940, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Imlay City and the Imlay City Eagles.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon Dahn of Imlay City; daughter, Janet (Howard) Richmond of Lum; son, Gary Dahn of Imlay City; brother, Richard Moore of Lapeer; sister, Daisy (Jim) Dean of Croswell; brother-in-law, Neil (Betty) Dahn; sister-in-law, Norma Dahn; and grandchildren, Garett Dahn, Nicole Dahn, Lois Meitz, Wayne Richmond, Dale Kreiner and Jill Huntley.
She was preceded in death by her son, Dale; daughter, Bonnie Lynn; four brothers and two sisters.
A special Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary service was Monday (Dec. 2).
Funeral services were Tuesday (Dec. 3) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. The Rev. Alan Casillas officiated. Burial was in Imlay Township cemetery, Imlay City.
