Lapeer

Theodore "Ted" Sheets, 64, of Lapeer, died Wednesday (Oct. 23, 2002).
He was born August 29,1938, in Monroe, to Leo and Alma (Hicks) Sheets. He married Lynn M. Forbush on April 29, 1978 in Lapeer.
He was an overhead crane operator at Pontiac Motors, retiring in 1996. He was a farmer and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, motorcycles and just about anything outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Sheets of Lapeer; children, Cindi Sheets of North Carolina, Christine Morton of Florida and Wendy (Eric) Perkett of Lapeer; grandchildren, Frankie Morton, Melissa Morton, Cadie Perkett, Scott Perkett; his mother, Alma Sheets of Dryden; siblings, Leo Sheets of Marlette, Robert Sheets of Flint and Eleanor (Lawrence) Ogg of Dryden; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Teddy Sheets in 1972; father, Leo Sheets; and brothers, Anthony Sheets, Richard Sheets and Fred Sheets.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services were Saturday (Oct. 26,) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Arnold Bracy officiated. Burial was in Mount Hope cemetery, Lapeer.

Vivian Lennox
Died: Wednesday, October 23, 2002
Age: 71

Metamora

Vivian Lennox, 71, of Metamora (formerly of Rochester), died Wednesday (Oct. 23, 2002).
She was born in Detroit to William and Olive (Grimson) Crean. She married George Lennox.
She was a graduate of Hazel Park High School, class of 1948. She received her bachelor's degree from Oakland University of Rochester in 1974 and master's degree from the University of Detroit. She was the assistant budget director at the University of Detroit and then budget director at the University of Detroit. She retired in 1986 as the assistant controller at Oakland University. She was a member of the Board of Directors of Blue Cross- Blue Shield of Michigan. She was also involved with Metamora Historical Society, Friends of the Library-Metamora, Lapeer Tuesday Club, Lapeer County Horticulture Society and was a volunteer at the soup kitchen at Grace Episcopal Church of Lapeer.
She is survived by her husband, George; children, William (Anna) Lennox of Ray Township, Maureen Lennox of Southfield, Margaret Lennox of Novi and Thomas (Nikki) Lennox of Vernontville; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Lennox in 1997; parents, William and Olive (Grimson) Crean; and brothers, James and John Crean.
Memorial contributions may be made to Leader Dogs for the Blind, American Cancer Society, Michigan Humane Society or Community Home Health and Hospice.
Services were Saturday (Oct. 26) at Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church in Troy. The Rev. Norman Naylor officiated. Burial was in Roseland Park cemetery in Berkley.

B. M. Snyder
Died: Tuesday, October 22, 2002
Age: 85

Tampa, Fla.

B.M. Snyder, 85, of Tampa, Fla. (formerly of Inkster and Otter Lake), died Tuesday (Oct. 22, 2002) at his home.
He was born in Otter Lake.
He moved to Tampa from Inkster in 1962. He served in the Army during World War II and was an entrepreneur in the trucking and transportation industries. He was an honorary member of the Ehurafeh Temple in Saginaw, Tyrian Masonic Lodge in Detroit for over 50 years, Scottish Rite, Land O' Lutz Shrine, Club Egypt Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. and American Legion Post 334 for 46 years.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; daughter, Bernadine M. Snyder of Tampa, Fla; son, Marvin Owen (Carolyn A.) Snyder of Cullman, Ala; grandchildren, David Ellis Floyd of Tampa, Fla., Lora Michelle Appleby (Douglas Pemberton, Sr.) of Brandon, Fla., Brenda Marlene Snyder of Charleston, S.C., James Marvin Snyder of Charleston, S.C., and Christopher Owen (Kim) Snyder of Portland, Tenn; and great grandchildren, Douglas George Pemberton Jr. of Brandon, Fla., Dayna Lamar Snyder of Charleston, S.C., Samone Branea of Charleston, S.C., and Kelsey Paige Snyder of Portland, Tenn.
Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 12502 N. Pine Drive, Tampa, Fla. 33612.
A Masonic service was Saturday (Oct. 26) by members of the Egypt Temple A.A.O.N.M.S.

Robert M. Edwards
Died: Tuesday, October 22, 2002
Age: 78

Tampa, Fla.

Robert M. Edwards, 78, of Tampa, Fla. (formerly of Almont), died Tuesday (Oct. 22, 2002).
He was born Jan. 20, 1924, in Neville, Ohio, to Harold and Lucy Edwards. He married Martha Mae Staats on Dec. 9, 1944 in Bethel, Ohio.
He served in the Navy during World War II, and is a proud plank owner of the U.S.S. Ringgold (DD 500). He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Masonic Lodge. He retired in 1969 from Ford Proving Ground in Romeo.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; sons, Tom (Pam) Edwards of Almont, Ron (Debbie) Edwards of Kissimmee, Fla., Larry (Penny) Edwards of Imlay City; several grandchildren; a brother, Galen (Anne) Edwards of Dunnellon, Fla.; a sister, Lois Poston of Cincinnati, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Harry Edwards; and a nephew, Bobby Edwards.
Funeral services were Saturday (Oct. 26) at McIntyre Funeral Home. Burial was in Felicity, Ohio.
Arrangements by McIntyre Funeral Home, Florida.

Luella Alice Barkus
Died: Tuesday, October 22, 2002
Age: 90

Fostoria

Luella Alice Barkus, 90, of Fostoria, died Tuesday (Oct. 22, 2002) at her home.
She was born July 6, 1912, in Victoria to Joseph and Johanna (Lambert) Gonyea. She married Charles Barkus on Nov. 25, 1931 in Flint at St. Michael's Catholic Church .
She and her husband Charley operated Charley's Meat Market on South Saginaw in Burton from 1939 to 1966. In 1966 they sold their meat market-grocery store and bought the general store and gas station at Buck's Corners, north of Lapeer. They renamed the store C&L Market, and operated the business until they retired in 1976. During her life she became an accomplished artist in oils and water colors. In 1964 she received a diploma from the Washington School of Art.
She is survived by her sons, Donald of Fostoria, Alan (Maxine) of Linden; five granddaughters, four great-grandchildren, two great great-grandsons and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in 1998; son, Robert in 2001; parents, eight brothers and three sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
Funeral services were Saturday (Oct. 26) at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in North Branch. The Rev. Richard Treml officiated. Burial was in Flint Memorial Park cemetery.

Brianne M. Powell
Died: Monday, October 21, 2002
Age: 22

Lapeer

Brianne M. Powell, 22, of Lapeer, died Monday (Oct. 21, 2002).
She was born August 12, 1980, to Mark and Debra Powell.
She graduated from Lapeer East High School in 1999. She loved horses. She will be greatly missed by her loving family.
She is survived by her parents, Mark and Debra Powell; sisters, Marissa and Carly; brother, Andrew; grandparents, Harry and Donna Turton; great-grandparents Margaret Smalley and Aree and Wayne Conns; aunts and uncles, David, Steven, Roger and Linda, Gary and Fay, David and Sherri, Norien and Marvin; 13 cousins, several great aunts and uncles and many friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
Funeral services were Friday (Oct. 25) at Baird-Newton Funeral Home in Lapeer. Elder Gary Perria officiated. Burial was in Mount Hope cemetery in Lapeer.

She was born August 12, 1980, to Mark and Debra Powell.

Ronald R. Swain
Died: Saturday, October 19, 2002
Age: 65

Flint

Ronald R. Swain, 65, of Flint, died Saturday (Oct. 19, 2002) at Hurley Medical Center.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 295 in Attica and he also was a Shrine Clown of the Elf Khurafeh Temple.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Christopher; five step-children, two grandchildren and 14 step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family, in lieu of flowers.
Funeral services were Tuesday, (Oct. 22). The Rev. Bonnie Neighorn officiated. A memorial service was held monday (Oct. 21) by the Masonic Lodge 295. Cremation has taken place.
