Frieda Kesel
Died: Tuesday, September 24, 2002
Age: 82

North Branch

Frieda Kesel, 82, of North Branch (formerly of Rochester), died Tuesday (Sept. 24, 2002).
She was born Oct. 25, 1919, in Macomb County, to August and Efrosina (Neumann) Zado. She married Herbert Kesel in Detroit during World War II.
She enjoyed music, entertaining friends and volunteer work in the Rochester community prior to her move to this area. In recent years, she was active in the Peppy Pioneers of Otter Lake and the senior ditizens group of Deerfield Township.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Kesel of North Branch; son, Robert Strasser of Waterford; granddaughter, Shauntay Kesel of North Branch; sister, Bertha Morrow of Eastpointe; brother, Arthur Zado of Eastpointe; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Kesel in 1979; and her parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family for use at their discretion.
Funeral services and burial were Thursday (Sept. 26) at the White Chapel Memorial cemetery, Troy.

Eugenie Josephine DeSantis
Died: Saturday, September 14, 2002
Age: 67

Clio

Eugenie Josephine (LaMeau) DeSantis, 67, of Clio (formerly of Hadley Township), died Sept. 14, 2002.
She was born Sept. 11, 1935, to Walter and Florence Catherine (Freeman) LaMeau. She married Angelo DeSantis in Royal Oak on May 3, 1958.
She lived in Royal Oak before moving to Hadley Township in 1977, she then moved to Clio in 1997. She enjoyed fine arts, theater, flower gardening and traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Angelo A. DeSantis; daughters, Angela Jeanine of Los Angeles, Calif., Ellen Marie Brandt of Clio and Catherine Escher of Arcata, Calif.; sons, Joseph Dominic of Los Angeles, Calif. and Vincent Paul of Kansas City, Kan.; four grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Mangniez, Mary Shedden, Elise LaMeau, all of Florida; and brothers, Thomas LaMeau of Warren and Anthony LaMeau of Florida.
A memorial mass will be 11 a.m., Saturday (Oct. 12) at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 7296 Gale Road, Goodrich. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. For directions call (810) 610-9688.

Renee Bea Woodward
Died: Friday, September 13, 2002
Age: 17

Lapeer

Renee Bea Woodward, 17, of Lapeer, died Friday (Sept. 13, 2002).
She was born Oct. 16, 1984, in Pontiac, to Kenneth and Cynthia (Lojewski) Woodward.
She was a senior at Lapeer East High School. She loved being with her nephews, making people laugh and being with her friends. She liked horses and Kid Rock.
She is survived by her mother, Cynthia "Cindy" Woodward of Lapeer; father, Kenneth (Marie) Woodward of Muscatine, Iowa; siblings, twin, Rebecca Woodward of Lapeer, Cayanne (Aaron) Stier of Davison and Kenneth Woodward of Davison; nephews, Jordon, Cody and Tristen; grandparents, Betty and Walt Laporte of Lapeer, Joseph Lojewski of Carsonville and Katherine Woodward of Lake Orion; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Kenneth R. Woodward.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Checks may be made payable to Cynthia Woodward or Kenneth Woodward.
Funeral services were Wednesday (Sept. 18) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Joel Caminiti officiated. Burial was in Mount Pleasant cemetery, Oakwood.

Lucille M. Williams
Died: Friday, September 13, 2002
Age: 93

Shelby Twp.

Lucille M. Williams, 93, of Shelby Township (formerly of Attica), died Friday (Sept. 13, 2002) at Evangelical Home in Sterling Heights.
She was born Sept. 15, 1908, in Ironwood. She married Weldon Williams.
She was a member of St. Thomas Community Presbyterian Church and the Imlay City Friendship Chapter of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her son, Clifford (Therese) Williams; eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon Williams; sister, Viola Phillips; and brothers, George Jewell, Luther Jewell and Arthur Jewell.
Funeral services were Tuesday (Sept. 17) at Wasik Funeral Home in Shelby Township. The Revs. Jim Porter and Jamie Klinger officiated. Burial was in White Chapel cemetery, Troy.

Esther L. Kellogg
Died: Friday, September 13, 2002
Age: 86

Metamora

Esther L. Kellogg, 86, of Metamora (formerly of Birmingham), died Friday (Sept. 13, 2002).
She was born in Birmingham to Fredrick and Mary (Jennings) Schultz. She married Clayton E. Kellogg on May 10, 1956 in Royal Oak.
She was a supervisor at B/W Controls in Birmingham for 43 years, retiring in 1978. She was a long time member of the Michigan Quarter Horse Association. She and her husband were involved with the Sheriff's Posse Mounted Division.
She is survived by her husband, Clayton E. Kellogg of Metamora; daughter, Maryellen (Ken) Mumy of Metamora; grandchildren, Lisa Kay (Todd) Smith of Ortonville, Michelle (Tom) Sierakowski of Metamora and Kenneth Cameron Mumy of Metamora; and great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Sierakowski.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two siblings, Ellen Schultz and George Schultz.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Animal Rescue League or the American Lung Association.
A memorial service was Tuesday (Sept. 17) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Colin Stover officiated. Burial was in White Chapel cemetery, Troy.

Mildred Johnson
Died: Friday, September 13, 2002
Age: 85

Lakeland, Fla.

Mildred "Millie" Johnson, 85, of Lakeland, Fla. (formerly of Lapeer), died Friday (Sept. 13, 2002).
She was born Aug. 23, 1917, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Mr. and Mrs. Arvid Nelson. She married Bernard W. Johnson.
She was a registered nurse at Oakdale Regional Center for many years. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church when she lived in Lapeer. She was an avid story teller.
She is survived by her children, Bruce (Karlene) Johnson of Lapeer, Dean (Jill) Johnson of Florida and Dale (Susan) Johnson of South Carolina; grandchildren, Andy (Heather) Johnson, Greg Johnson, Ben Johnson, Bethany Johnson and Taylor Johnson; great-grandchildren, Allison and Katelyn; and brother, Harold Nelson of St. Paul, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard W. Johnson; and parents.

Funeral services wereWednesday (Sept. 18) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Joseph Bower officiated. Burial was in Mount Hope cemetery, Lapeer.

Esther M. Barr
Died: Friday, September 13, 2002
Age: 91

Winona Lake, Ind.

Esther M. Barr, 91, of Winona Lake, Ind., died Friday (Sept. 13, 2002) at her home.
She was born Nov. 21, 1910, in Cheboygan to Henry B. and Eva E. (Leising) Wixson. She married Earl Barr in Cheboygan on April 3, 1929.
She lived in the Lapeer area most of her life, moving to Winona Lake, Ind., 11 years ago. She was a member of and active at the First Baptist Church in Lapeer. She was also involved in the missionary group and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing, cooking and was a former 4-H leader.
She is survived by her children, Neva (John) Conley of Warsaw, Ind., Nata (Norman) Lewis of Cheboygan, Neil (Bonnie) Barr of Lewisberry, Pa., and Donald (Joyce) Barr of Dacula, Ga.; 14 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Barr in 1995; siblings, Eva Ramsby, Josephine Zellweger, Myrtle Kirby, Chester, Henry and Ervin Wixson.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Retirement Village, 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, Ind. 46590 or Faith Baptist Church in Cheboygan.
Funeral services were Tuesday (Sept. 17, 2002) at Faith Baptist Church in Cheboygan. The Revs. Joseph Bower and James Currie officiated. Burial was in Pinehill cemetery in Cheboygan.

Michael Anthony Alberts
Died: Friday, September 13, 2002
Age: 79

Attica

Michael Anthony Alberts, 79, of Attica, died Friday (Sept. 13, 2002) at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
He was born May 26, 1923, in Leisenring, Pa., to Abraham and Mary (Fasulky) Alberts. He married Laurella Agnes Kerns Bauer on July 4, 1945, in Leisenring, Pa.
He graduated from Durban High School in Pennsylvania. He lived in the Attica area since 1965. He was employed by Pontiac Motors Plant 9 in Pontiac for 17 years before retiring in 1982. He worked for 20 years at Farmers Dairy in Connellsville, Pa., driving a milk truck He was a member of the Imlay City Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He is survived by his daughter, Marianne (Robert) McNary of Attica; grandchildren, Jordan, Nathan and Hannah McNary of Attica; brother, David Alberts of Connellsville, Pa.; and three sisters, Betty Lewis of Scottsdale, Pa., Mary Nalvenko of Scottsdale, Pa., and Lou Gaudiello of Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laurella Alberts on Aug. 18, 2002; eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were Monday (Sept. 16) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. Deacon Jerry DeShaw officiated. Burial was in Attica Township cemetery, Attica.
