Metamora
Robert Laga, 72, of Metamora since 1983 (formerly of Hazel Park), died Friday (Aug. 30, 2002).
He was born July 2, 1930, in Royal Oak. He married Joyce Pinkerton on Sept. 20, 1949, in Pontiac .
He was a production line inspector for General Motors for 39 years, retiring in 1988. He owned Acorn Archery shop in Royal Oak for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Laga of Metamora; children, Earl (Kathy) Laga of Casco Township, Sue (Tim) Rumley of Portage, Ind., Ruth (Larry) Jackson of Metamora, Frank (Elaine) Laga of Crystal River, Fla., and Bruce (Cindy) Laga of Sterling Heights; 21 grandchildren; mother, Rose Choyke of Saginaw; and nephews, Don Laga of Fenton and Bill Laga of Fenton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Funeral services were Tuesday (Sept. 3) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Reid Kitchen officiated.

Alta Mae Penzien

Yale
Alta Mae Penzien, 94, of Yale, died Thursday (Aug. 29, 2002) at Medilodge of Yale.
She was born July 30, 1908, in Imlay City to Charles and Alice (Russell) Hoisington. She married Harry John Penzien on Aug. 18, 1927. in Tonawanda, N.Y.
She grew up in Imlay City and graduated from Imlay City High School. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Chit Chat Club, Attica Order of Eastern Star and Attica United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, Harry (June) Penzien Jr. of Attica; daughters, Joan (Donald) Phillips of Marlette and MaryAlice (Richard) Irish of Attica; grandchildren, David (Sharon) Penzien, Cathy Irish, Kay (Robert) Hennes, Duane (Shirley) Penzien, Susan (James) Strom and Mary (Bradley) Guiles; 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Penzien Sr.; granddaughter, Jane Penzien; sisters, Bernice Borland and Gladys Kujath; and brothers, Clarence Hoisington, Ray Hoisington, Earl Hoisington, Francis Carl Hoisington, Eugene Hoisington and Glenn Hoisington.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Heather McCormick, 23, of North Branch, died Thursday (Aug. 29, 2002).
She was born June 19, 1979, in Lapeer, to Michael and Ann Therese (Kummer) McCormick.
She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and people lover. She enjoyed life and will be missed by many friends and family. She was an office manager for Coulter Painting.
She is survived by her parents, Michael and Ann McCormick of Metamora; siblings, Jacqueline (Kevin) Dietz of Metamora, Alisha (Jesse) Howell of Metamora and Sunsyra McCormick of Grand Blanc; grandmother, Josephine Kummer of Roseville; and two nephews.

Funeral services were Tuesday (Sept. 3) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lapeer. The. Rev. Janusz Iwan officiated. Burial was in Metamora cemetery, Metamora.

Ella Jean Revitzer

Ella Jean Revitzer, 42, of Lapeer (formerly of Attica), died Aug. 26, 2002 at home.
She was born Oct. 31, 1959, in Oregon, to Fred and Winnie (Wood) Overland.
She lived most all of her life in the Attica area. She graduated from Lapeer East High School in 1979. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her son, Christopher Allen Revitzer of Attica; daughter, Kellie Jean Revitzer of Lapeer; close personal friend, Paul Standish of Burton; step-father, George Willin of Attica; sister, Cindy L. (Jerry) Gwyn of Lapeer; brother, Daniel W. Overland of Lapeer; husband of 20 years, Greg Revitzer of Attica; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Winnie Willin.
Funeral services were Friday (Aug. 30, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. The. Rev. Ron Sischo officiated. Burial was in Attica Township cemetery, Attica.

Meta M. Conn

Dryden
Meta M. Conn, 97, of Dryden, died Monday (Aug. 26, 2002).
She was born April 2, 1905, in Dryden to Henry and Anna Schroder. She married LeGrand Conn.
She was a teacher years ago, but her heart was with being a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and was a fabulous cook. She was a member of the Wesleyan Church in Dryden.
She is survived by her children, Mary (Claude) Welch of Lapeer, Helen (Bill) Noakes of Dryden, Bill Conn of Metamora, Jerry (Susan) Conn of Dryden and Brad Conn of Lapeer; daughter-in-law, Bev Conn of Almont; 17 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LeGrand in 1973; son, Keith; grandson, Tom Welch; and brother, John Schroder.
Visitation wasWednesday (Aug. 28) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday (Aug. 29) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Dale Nash will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant cemetery, Dryden.

Jane Barry
Died: Sunday, August 25, 2002

Brown City
Jane Barry, 63, of Brown City died Sunday (Aug. 25, 2002) at Mercy Hospital in Port Huron.
She was born Nov. 4, 1938, in Meredosia, Ill., to Arthur and Irene (McDonald) Flynn. She married Stanley Barry on Feb. 24, 1968 in Madison Heights.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Brown City. She and her husband were foster parents of 23 children in Clarkston for 10 years. She enjoyed watching the Detroit Red Wings and most of all she enjoyed her loving children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley; sons, Donald (Cheryl) Barry of Marlette, Roger (Diane) Barry of Clifford and William (Lauren) Barry of Deckerville; daughters, Mary (Ron) Smith of Jasper, Ala., Shirley (Jim) Schemanske of Brown City, Florence Barry of Kinde, Sherry (Jack) Miklovich of Clifford and Carissa Ann Barry of High Falls, Ga.; sisters, Alma (Lee) Archer of Carp Lake and Shirley (Richard) Hughes of Madison Heights; 17 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 23 foster children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Clyde Flynn; and sisters, Edith Chapman and Laveta Ellerholz.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Water Oncology Department in Port Huron.
Funeral services were Wednesday (Aug. 28) at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette. The Rev. Eric Kilmer of Our Savior Lutheran Church officiated. Cremation followed at the Sunset Valley Crematory, Bay City.

Lucille Baker

Lucille Baker, 94, of Quinnesec (formerly of North Branch), died Sunday (Aug. 25, 2002) at her daughter's home.
She was born June 1, 1908, in Sterling, Ill., to Charles and Sarah (Penticoff) Morris.
She and her husband, Adam, celebrated over 67 years of marriage before his death in 1995. She was a busy homemaker, raising her four children, and she was the owner and manager of the North Branch Hotel Restaurant for nine years. She loved to play cards, crochet, and work in her flower gardens. She was a member of the North Branch Mom's Club.
She is survived by her sons, Tom Baker of North Branch and Roy (Debbie) Baker of North Branch; daughters, Barbara (Dale) Summersett of North Branch and Nancy (Earl) Runnels of Quinnesec; grandchildren, Randy, Ronnie, Rashawn, Katrina, Kimberly, Cami, Kara, Adam, Nichole and Melissa; great-grandchildren, Spencer, Dean, Stephanie, Michelle, India Brooklyn, Courtney, Cade, Johnathon and Jacquelyn; sister, Pearl (Merritt) Bellows of Florida; brother, Arthur Morris of California; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Adam; seven brothers and two sisters.

Helen Mrokowski

Helen Mrokowski, 85, of Lapeer, died Saturday (Aug. 24, 2002) at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
She was born Nov. 25, 1916, in Detroit, to Constantine and Helen (Mlodzianowski) Mrokowski.
She was a former Oakdale Regional Center resident and had worked for 15 years for Growth and Opportunity. She belonged to the social group of Lapeer Community Mental Health. She will be sadly missed by many loving family members, caregivers and dear friends.
Funeral Mass was Tuesday (Aug. 27) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lapeer. The. Rev. Janusz Iwan officiated. Burial was in Mount Olivet cemetery, Detroit.
