Gail Frances Vincent of Milton, Fla. (formerly of Lapeer), died Friday (June 28, 2002) in Florida after a courageous fight with cancer.
She was born Aug. 31, 1938 in Lapeer.
She was a beloved wife of 43 years, as well as a mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a dedicated volunteer for the American Cancer Society, Sacred Heart Hospital and First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Vincent of Milton, Fla.; children, Charles Vincent of Salt Lake City, Utah, Cheryl (Michael) Vincent-Santoni of Reistertown, Md.; and Lisa (Jonathan) Vincent-Davis of Ellicott City, Md.; grandchildren, Elisa, Abigail and Michael all of Reistertown, Md.; mother, Marion Duvall of Lapeer; brothers, Kirk Babcock of Pensacola, Fla., and Lee Babcock of Kalamazoo; sisters, Lynn Gibson of Grayslake, Ill. and Joan Thurlow of Davison.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to the American Cancer Society.
A memorial service was Tuesday (July 2, 2002) at the First Presbyterian Church in Pensacola, Fla.

Alice M. Scott
Died: Friday, June 28, 2002
Age: 82

Lapeer

Alice M. Scott, 82, of Lapeer, died Friday (June 28, 2002).
She was born Aug. 29, 1919, in Elkton to James and Mary Ann Mae (Conlin) Curran. She married Donald W. Scott in Flint on June 7, 1942.
She was a bookkeeper for Lapeer County Bank and Trust for 31 1/2 years, retiring on Dec. 15, 1984. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church since 1944. She was a member of the Suncrest Auxiliary, the Birthday Club and a lifetime member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed golf, bowling, crocheting, reading and helping others.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Scott of Lapeer; son, Roland (Diana) Scott of North Branch; grandsons, Joel Scott, John Scott and Jeffrey Scott; and sisters, Barbara Engle of Lapeer and Annabelle Knechtel of Elkton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Kenneth Curran, Francis Curran and James Curran Jr.
A Eastern Star memorial service was Sunday (June 30, 2002). Funeral services were Monday (July 1, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Terry Euper officiated. Burial was in Stiles cemetery in Mayfield Township.

Jean L. Baraboll
Died: Friday, June 28, 2002
Age: 79

Mayville

Jean L. Baraboll, 79, of Mayville, died Friday (June 28, 2002) at home.
She was born July 28, 1922, in Mayville, to F. Charles and Lera (Winterstein) Ohmer.
She graduated from Mayville High School in 1940 and from St. Mary's Nursing School in 1946. She was a retired registered nurse and worked at Oakdale Hospital, Lapeer Hospital and Lapeer County Health Department.
She was a member of the Mayville United Methodist Church and was one of the founding members of the Mayville Area Ambulance Service. She was presented the Citizen of The Year Award at the Sunflower Festival in 2001. She enjoyed golfing, football and swimming.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Jane Ohmer of Mayville, her caregiver, June Britton of Mayville, Barbara (Bob) Hopkins of Allen Park, Pauline Deshetsky of North Branch, Marion Fallas of Scranton, Pa., Vera (Frank) LeBlang of Farmington Hills and Ann Baraboll of Oak Park; brother-in-law, Mike Barkowska of Calif.; nieces, Ruth Serven of Mayville and Lana (Lyle) Fryers of Mayville; nephews, Charles (Irene) Ohmer of Saginaw, Ralph (Kate) Deshetsky of North Branch and many other nieces and nephews; special friends, Elizabeth Petiprin, Glen and Joyce Higgins, Maxine Donath and Lucille Steele.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter in 1966; sons, Daniel in 1948 and Theodore in 1972; brother, David Ohmer in 1993; nephew, David John Ohmer; and niece, Bonnie Jean Stout.

Linda L. Warren
Died: Wednesday, June 26, 2002

Linda L. Warren, 55, of Peck, died Wednesday (June 26, 2002) in her home.
She was born March 11, 1947, in Yale, to Eldon and Lillian Molesworth. She married Ronald Warren on Sept. 25, 1965.
She was a housewife and mother. She was also a foster mother to many children in her home. She was a leader for the Sanilac 4-H and attended the Peck United Methodist Church. She loved children.
She is survived by her husband Ronald; children, Jeff (Phronsie) Warren, Steve (Marie) Warren, Vicky, Leanne, Dan, Tracy, Donna, Chris, David, Rod, Krystal, Stevie, Karen, Amelia and Heidi; grandchildren, Mathew (Cassandra), Megan, Cameron, Andy, Nate, Emilee, Ray, John, Cryssie, Jareina, Caleb, Zachary and Mason; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Emerald; sisters, Sharon (Jim) Griggs, Marilyn (Robert) Stoliker, Elizabeth (Mike) Schweitzer; brother, James (Debbie) Molesworth; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Lillian Molesworth.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Funeral services were Saturday (June 29, 2002) at the Peck United Methodist Church.

Kevin Allen Mott

Kevin Allen Mott, 32, of Spartansburg, S.C. (formerly of Imlay City), died June 24, 2002 at Spartansburg General Hospital.
He was born Dec. 2, 1969, in Lapeer, to Edward Joseph and Connie Sue (Miller) Mott.
He grew up in Imlay City and graduated from Imlay City High School in 1988. He graduated from Baker College, Flint with a degree in business administration and accounting. He worked at Crandall Chrysler for one year. He was a member of the Imlay City Eagles.
He is survived by his sister, Michelle Mott of Grand Rapids; brother, Doug (Peggy) Mott of Imlay City; nieces and nephews, Joe (Shannon) Mott, Jamie Mott and Robert Mott; great-niece, Sami Jo Mott; and grandmother, Lillian Mott of Marlette.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Mott; mother, Connie Mott; and infant sister, Terri.
Funeral services were Saturday (June 29, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. The Rev. Carl Meier officiated. Burial of ashes will be at a later date.

Margaret E. Fisher
Died: Monday, June 24, 2002
Age: 74

Attica

Margaret E. Fisher, 74, of Attica, died Monday (June 24, 2002).
She was born Sept. 6, 1927 in Triadelphia, W. Va. She married William H. Fisher Jr. in Detroit on Feb. 23, 1946.
She retired after 10 years as an attendant nurse from Michigan State Home of Lapeer. She enjoyed bingo, doll collecting and shopping, especially garage sales. She was a huge Darren McCarty and Red Wing fan. She was a loving mother, sister and doting grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Darlene (Wayne) Collins of Silverwood, Donna (Jim) Fenslau of Prescott, Barbara (Eduardo) Ortiz of Lapeer and Thomas (Delores) Fisher of Attica; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; siblings, George Charlton, Sue (Martin) Everson, Richard (Clara) Charlton, Alan (Linda) Charlton and Dave (Virginia) Charlton; and a number of good friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Fisher Jr. in 1989; a daughter, Debra Fisher; a son, William Fisher Jr.; her parents; and a brother, Donald Charlton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
Visitation will be 1-9 p.m., Wednesday (June 26, 2002) at the Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday (June 27, 2002) at the funeral home. The Rev. Dan Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Attica Township cemetery.

Robert William Svoboda
Died: Sunday, June 23, 2002
Age: 55

Clifford

Robert William Svoboda, 55, of Clifford, died Sunday (June 23, 2002) at the University of Michigan Medical Center.
He was born March 22, 1947, in Lapeer, to Jerry and Raffaela Svoboda.
He graduated from North Branch High School in 1965 and was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He was a farmer and carpenter. He enjoyed drag racing, woodworking and was an avid sports enthusiast.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Faye and Wayne Rappuhn of Clifford; daughter, Tammy Svoboda of Lapeer; son, Todd (fiancee, Nicole) Svoboda of Grand Blanc; special friend, Darlene Svoboda of Lapeer; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry; and sister, Marilyn Faye.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family or masses at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in North Branch.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m., Wednesday (June 26, 2002) at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home, North Branch and 10-11 a.m., Thursday (June 27, 2002) at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, North Branch.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday (June 27, 2002) at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, North Branch. The Rev. Schmidberger will officiate. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul cemetery, North Branch.

Gerald Lee VanWagnen
Died: Saturday, June 22, 2002
Age: 72

Titusville, Fla.

Gerald Lee Van Wagnen, 72, of Titusville, Fla. (formerly of North Branch), died June 22, 2002.
He was born Sept. 13, 1929, in Flint, to Elwin and Alma (Sites) Van Wagnen. He married Peg Bonesteel on Feb. 7, 1970.
He served his country in the Army. He worked for and retired from Oakdale Regional in Lapeer.
He is survived by his wife, Peg Van Wagnen of Titusville, Fla.; children, Dean (Kathy) Van Wagnen of Davison, Barb (Don) Nass of Indian River, Lyle (Jan) Gallagher of Phoenix, Ariz., Duane (Sally) Gallagher of Port Huron, Dion (Gayle) Couture of St. John, Fla., David Couture of California and Sally Bonesteel of Cocoa, Fla.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Karen Scott.
A memorial service will be Wednesday (July 3, 2002) in Titusville, Fla. Cremation has already taken place.
