David B. Rutherford, 70, of Lapeer (formerly of Hibbing, Minn.), died Wednesday (June 12, 2002).
He was born Feb. 24, 1932, in Hibbing, Minn., to Harold and Agnes (Brackett) Rutherford. He married Betty Kinch on Jan. 8, 1966.
He operated his own maintenance service company. He worked at the Mahoning Ore and Steel in Hibbing, Minn. He loved fishing, hunting, the Detroit Red Wings and telling stories. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Davison.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Rutherford of Lapeer; children, John (Donna) Rutherford of Lapeer, Shari Rutherford-LeClair (Bill West) of Lapeer and Russell (Renee) Rutherford of Columbiaville; grandchildren, John, Amanda, Stephanie, Jessica, Austin, Joshua, Jeremy, Angelica, Valerie, David and Dayna; brother, Joseph (Shirley) Rutherford of Hibbing, Minn.; sister, Frances Murphy of Davison; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Lou Krause.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
Funeral services were Saturday (June 15, 2002) at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Davison. The Rev. Andrew Czajkowski officiated. Burial was in St. John's cemetery, Davison.

Albert Keith Campbell
Died: Tuesday, June 11, 2002
Age: 80

Lapeer

Albert Keith "Casey" Campbell, 80, of Lapeer, died Tuesday (June 11, 2002) at Genesys Medical Center in Grand Blanc.
He was born July 22, 1921 in Attica. He married Alice Mae Wright in Imlay City on Dec. 12, 1945.
He graduated from Imlay City High School in 1939. He served in the Army during World War II. He worked for Buick Motors Division of General Motors and retired in 1980 as the parts and salvage manager for the entire United States. He was a member of the Elba United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Campbell of Lapeer; daughter, Jeanne (Andrew) Hough of New Baltimore; son, Allen Campbell of Lapeer; grandchildren, Andrew Jay (Kimberly) Hough, Adam Hough, Rebecca Campbell and Martha Campbell; sister-in-law, Doris Campbell of Imlay City; and his ever faithful companion Beau.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Geneva Campbell; and brothers, Louis and Neil.
Funeral services were Saturday (June 15, 2002) at Elba United Methodist Church, Elba. The Rev. Jim Paige officiated. Burial of ashes was in Imlay Township cemetery, Imlay City.

Roger D. Todahl
Died: Monday, June 10, 2002
Age: 66

Columbiaville

Roger D. Todahl, 66, of Columbiaville, died June 10, 2002.
He was born March 22, 1936, in Fergus Falls, Minn., to the late Arnold and Viola (Nelson) Todahl. He married Gudelia Hernandez.
He retired in 1998 after teaching fifth grade in LakeVille Schools. He servedin the Navy and was an alumnus of the University of Minnesota and Eastern Michigan University.
He is survived by his wife, Gudelia; son, Jeff (Pam) Todahl of Otter Lake; daughter, Deonna (Gilbert) Cruz of Oxford; six grandchildren; and a sister, Valera (Donald) Norman of Minnesota.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled Veterans of America.
Funeral services were Saturday (June 15, 2002) at Jansen Family Funeral Home, Columbiaville.

Elton G. Bradford
Died: Monday, June 10, 2002
Age: 86

Lapeer

Elton G. Bradford, 86, of Lapeer, died Monday (June 10, 2002) at home with his family.
He was born Feb. 17, 1916, in Pontiac, to Roy and Mabel (Parker) Bradford. He married Anna "Maybell" Ries in Oxford on April 15, 1937.
Throughout their 64 years of marriage they lovingly cared for 50 foster children. He served in the Navy during World War II. He retired from General Motors Truck and Bus, completing 37 years of service. He also enjoyed swimming and water skiing.
He is survived by his children, Verneta (Max) Dunn of Oscoda, Robert (Janet) Bradford of Lapeer and Don (Sally) Bradford of Ortonville; grandchildren, Jeffery, Michelle, Tammy, Mike, Angie, Matt and Jenny; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna "Maybell" Bradford in June 2001; brother, Lawrence Bradford; and sister, Margaret Earforth.
Funeral services were Wednesday (June 12, 2002) at Baird-Newton Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Dean Blough officiated. Burial was in Lakeville cemetery, Oxford.

Hannah Christine Furse
Died: Sunday, June 09, 2002
Age: 82

Lapeer

Hannah Christine Furse, 82, of Lapeer (formerly of North Branch), died June 9, 2002 at Fisher Convalescent Home.
She was born June 4, 1920, in Cheyenne, N.D., to Christ and Clara (Nelson) Pederson. She married George Furse in Royal Oak on Nov. 1, 1942.
She was a resident of North Branch for over 45 years. She enjoyed playing cards, going to Lapeer County Center Building and playing bingo on Tuesday and Thursday nights. She was a member of the North Branch Hobby Club. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Ila (Merle) Misener of North Branch; granddaughters, Angelia (Scott) Mawer of Columbiaville and Melissa Misener of Lapeer; great-granddaughter, Brittany Marie; sisters, Alice (Roger) Hebner of Florida and Adeline (Richard) Birkenmeier of Frankenmuth; brothers, Arthur (Betty) Pederson of Vassar, Chris (Mary) Pederson of Florida; Donald (Jackie) Pederson of Newaygo and Lloyd Pederson of Flint; special cousin, Shirley (Bill) Hodge of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; and a brother, Norman Pederson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fisher Convalescent Home or the McLaren Hospice.
Funeral services wereWednesday (June 12, 2002) at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home, North Branch. The Rev. Roger Gedeke officiated. Burial was in the Rich Township cemetery.

Jack E. Clark

Jack E. Clark, 80, of Lapeer (formerly of Dryden and Rochester), died June 9, 2002.
He was born June 4, 1922, in Dryden, to George and Martha (Shinn) Clark. He married Marion Foe on May 24, 1947, in Dryden.
He graduated from Dryden High School, Class of 1941. He served in the Army during World War II. He worked at Pontiac Motor Division of General Motors Corp. for 30 years, retiring in 1978. He enjoyed hunting and camping. He attended the Dryden United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Marion Clark of Lapeer; children, Donald (Pamela) Clark of Baltimore, Md., and Carol (Rick Lenz) Clark of Holly; grandchildren, Malinda (Pablo) Rivera of Harrisburg, Pa., Rebecca (William) Colburn of Edgewater, Md., and Sarah (Val) Vidal of Lakemont, N.Y.; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Christopher Colburn, Leneah and Aaron Rivera, and Serena, Miguel and Nathaniel Vidal; and one sister, Elizabeth Henderson of Lapeer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law, Mary Foe; and brother-in-law, Hersel Henderson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
A memorial service was Thursday (June 13, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Frederick Timm officiated. Burial was in Mount Pleasant cemetery, Dryden.

Gloria A. Rabb

Gloria A. Rabb, 76, of Grand Rapids (formerly of Lapeer), died, Sunday (June 9, 2002).
Gloria and her husband were the owners of Rabb's Grocery Store at Bronson Lake.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Joseph Rabb; children, Mary Ann Holder of Ashboro, N.C., Richard (Karen) Rabb of Elkhart, Ind., Annette Rabb of Grand Rapids, Robert (Diane) Rabb of Grand Rapids and George (Debbie) Rabb of Lapeer; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert (Jean) Kremer of Royal Oak and William (Myrna) Kremer of Boynton Beach, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her children, Jane Snyder and Kirk Rabb.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church, 2627 44th St. S.E., Kentwood, MI, 49508.
A memorial service was Wednesday (June 12, 2002) at Ascension Lutheran Church. The Rev. Marci Miller officiated.

Vivian I. Elmy
Died: Saturday, June 08, 2002
Age: 79

Dryden

Vivian I. (Moyer) Elmy, 79, of Dryden, died June 8, 2002 at her home.
She was born Dec. 12, 1922, in Clifford, to William Henry and Mary Etta (Prettyman) Moyer. She married Peter Clarence Elmy on April 9, 1941 and was divorced approximately three years later.
She retired from National Twist Drill and stayed close with many of her friends made while working there. After retirement she went on to get her high school diploma from Dryden High School in 1985. She loved to clip coupons and even sent some out of state. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, working cross words, gardening, babies, and cute little sayings, poems and articles of interest out of the paper, all of these things were found throughout her home. She will be missed by her trusted companions, Buddy her dog and Poly the cat, especially by her family.
She is survived by her brothers, Daniel (Clara) Moyer of Beaverton and Leander (Phyllis) Moyer of Gladwin; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry and Mary Moyer; and daughter, Sonja Gale (Elmy) Bush, who was killed at the age of 27 in an automobile accident on Oct. 28, 1970; four sisters and one brother.
Memorial services were Friday (June 14, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Almont. The Rev. Dale Nash of Dryden Wesleyan Church officiated.
