Alysha Lynn Rahn, 13, of Attica, died June 4, 2002.
She was born July 16, 1988, in Lapeer, to Gregory and Susan (Wells) Rahn.
She lived all of her life in the Attica area. She was a student at Imlay City Middle School and participated in volleyball, basketball, softball and band. She was a member of Attica United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her parents, Gregory and Susan Rahn of Attica; sisters, Melissa Rahn and Nicole Rahn of Attica; grandparents, Floyd and Sharolyn Wells of Imlay City and Ed and Shirley Rahn of Davison; great-grandparents, Lucille Foster of Capac and Eva Thompson of Imlay City; and aunts and uncles, Melanie Grimm, Gary Rahn, Brian Wells, Rod Wells and Dawn Wells.
Funeral services were Saturday (June 8, 2002) at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Imlay City. The. Rev. Cliff Schroeder officiated. Burial was in Attica Township cemetery, Attica.

Carl Robert Sterner

Carl Robert Sterner, 78, of Dryden, died June 4, 2002 at his home.
He was born Sept. 12, 1923 in Imlay City. He married Ella Rosaleen Ward in Imlay City on March 21, 1944.
He grew up in Imlay City and lived most of his adult life in Dryden, graduating from Imlay City High School in 1941. He served in the Army during World War II. He was employed by the Dryden Post Office for 27 years, retiring as the postmaster in 1983. He belonged to the Dryden Veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Rosaleen of Dryden; son, James (Susan) Sterner of Dryden; daughter, Patricia Shanabrook of Webberville; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Sterner of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Brett, Michelle, Sarah, Christy, Kelly, Tom, Brian and Patrick; great-grandchild, Adam Paga; sisters, Arlene Weingartz of Dryden and Elsie (Robert) Seidell of Imlay City.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Thomas Sterner in 1982 and Donald Lee Sterner in 1996; son-in-law, Joe Shanabrook in 1995; and brother, Kenneth Sterner in 1980.
Funeral services were Friday (June 7, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. The Rev. Frederick Timm of the Dryden United Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in Mount Pleasant cemetery, Dryden.

George Edgar Schank

George Edgar Schank, 88, of Attica (formerly of North Branch), died Tuesday (June 4, 2002) at Marlette Community Hospital.
He was born July 21, 1913, in North Branch, to Charles and Katherine (Jacobs) Schank. He married Phyllis Herrell on May 4, 1974 in Belleville.
He graduated from North Branch High School in 1932 and served his country in the Navy. He was a member of the North Branch Masonic Lodge 312, North Branch Royal Arch Masons and the North Branch Eastern Star Chapter 149. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Attica; daughter, Yvonne (Carl) Delling of Lapeer; sons, Robert (Carol) of Belleville, Stanley (Viola) of Ocala, Fla., Richard (Lucille) of Hadley, Gary (Joann) of Harrison and Douglas (Denise) of Armada; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Gwendolyn (Roy) Pennell of Davison; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and first wife, Helen, on Aug. 7, 1971.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family for their discretion.
Funeral services were Friday (June 7, 2002) at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home, North Branch. Shane Brown and Derren Briggs officiated. Burial was in Westlawn cemetery, North Branch.

Thelma Allen

Thelma Allen, 80, of Lapeer (formerly of Royal Oak), died Monday (June 3, 2002). She was born Sept. 1, 1921 to Chester and Myrtle (Brown) McTavish. She married Bill N. Allen on Feb. 16, 1939.
She was the clerk at the Royal Oak Water Department for many years. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her children, Bonnie (Dave) Martin of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Beverly (Alan) LaCroix of Lapeer; grandchildren, Ron (Kris) Phinney of Cary, N.C., Robert (Kate) Martin of Anthem, Ariz., Michael (Kerry) LaCroix of Grand Blanc, April (Scott) Goran of Danbury, Conn., Kristopher (Jessica) LaCroix of Dryden, Leslie (Ian) Hawley of Orange Park, Fla.; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Wilson of Davison; brother, J.C. (Clara) McTavish of Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; daughter, Barbara Phinney; siblings, Olive, Bill and George; and parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Lung Association.
Visitation will be 1-4 p.m., and 6-9 p.m., Wednesday (June 5, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday (June 6, 2002) at the funeral home. The Rev. Peter DeKlerk will officiate. Burial will be in Ottawa Park cemetery, Pontiac.

Charlene J. Taylor, 65, of Lapeer (formerly of Houghton Lake and Troy), died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003.
She was born July 13, 1938, in Detroit to Jack and June (Palmer) Taylor.
She had been a bus driver, custodian and helped in Head Start and special education at Troy Schools for 27 years.She was most recently a broker-real estate agent in the Houghton Lake area.She was a member of the Eagles Club.
She is survived by her children, James Dorsey, Suzie Dorsey, Kathleen Dorsey, Lora Dorsey, Clara Dorsey and Chuck Dorsey; grandchildren, Janis, Crissy, Tony, Stanley and Carly; and siblings, Jack Taylor, David Taylor, Diane Taylor and Bob Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and June (Palmer) Taylor.
Funeral services were Thursday (Dec. 4) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas Richardson officiated.

Neva Belle Nelson

Neva Belle Nelson, 91, of Capac (formerly of Imlay City), died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at Mercy Hospital in Port Huron, after an extended illness.
He was born April 14, 1912, in Berlin Township to Earl L. and Mildred (Walker) Roach. She was a graduate of Armada High School. She had also lived in Almont and Capac. She was married to Carl T. Nelson in 1958; he died in June 1991.
She had been employed by Hurd Lock in Almont. She was a member of Almont First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet (Martin) Hartman of Diamond, Mo.; sons, the Rev. C. Blake Lasslett of Mesa, Ariz., and Bryan (Diana) Nelson of Riley Center; step-daughter, Patricia (Robert) VanWagoner of Basalt, Colo.; brother, Cliff (Clara) Roach of Galt, Calif.; sisters, Edna Martin of Allenton and Gladys (Ken) Montgomery of Burville; sister-in-law, Mary Roach of Florida; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; son, John “Jack” Lassett; brothers, Dallas Roach and Clair (Margaret) Roach.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at First Baptist Church of Almont. The Revs. C. Blake Lasslett and Jim Byrd officiated. Burial followed in West Berlin cemetery, Allenton.

Doris Winifred Roy

Doris Winifred Roy, 80, of Imlay City, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Lapeer Regional Hospital after a short illness.
She was born May 2, 1923, in Detroit to Henry and Helen (Freeman) Barth. She married John F. Roy on Oct. 24, 1947, in Capac.
She grew up in the Capac area and graduated from Capac High School. She had been employed by Hurd Lock and also Capac Plastics, where they made military helmets during World War II. She lived most of her married life in New York City. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Capac.
She is survived by her husband, John Roy of Imlay City; daughter, Karen Thompson of Flander, N.J.; brother, Bernard Barth of Zephyrhills, Fla.; grandchildren, Erin Thompson of Flanders, N.J. and Elizabeth McConnell of Goldsboro, Pa.; and great-grandchildren, Heather McConnell, Scott McConnell and Amber McConnell.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Joseph Thompson; sister, Helen Teetzel; and brothers, Henry Barth and Robert Barth.
Memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice.
Graveside memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Friday (Dec. 12) at Capac cemetery. The Rev. Hal Phillips will officiate. The family will be available for visiting at the cemetery just prior to the services.

James G. McKenna, 54, of Warren, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at his home.
He was born Oct. 31, 1949, in Detroit to George and Eva McKenna.
He is survived by his mother, Eva; sisters, Jenny (Scott) Bednarchik and Joyce McKenna; nieces, Danielle and Andrea; and nephews, Adam and Matthew.
He was preceded in death by his father, George McKenna.
Funeral services were Monday (Dec. 8) at Wasik Funeral Home, Warren. Burial was in Oakview cemetery.
