Gerardine M Kirkpatrick, 84, of Detroit and Indiana, died Thursday (March 7, 2002) at Ferguson Convalescent Home, Lapeer.
She was born Dec. 30, 1917 to Edward and Mae Jolly.
She was active with her church in Indiana and was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Detroit. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who took pride and enjoyed working in her flower gardens. She will be greatly missed by her family.
She is survived by her son, Gerard (Jean) Johnston of Lapeer; grandchildren, Wendy (John) Wynn of Lapeer and Mark (Wilma) Johnston of Kansas; great-grandchildren, Tony and Felicia Wynn and Mia Johnston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert O. Kirkpatrick; son, William E. Johnston.
Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lapeer.
Visitation was Sunday (March 10, 2002) at Baird-Newton Funeral Home, Lapeer. A rosary was recited Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass was Monday (March 11, 2002) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lapeer. The Rev. Janusz Iwan will officiate. Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery, Detroit.

Paul Stoll
Died: Wednesday, March 06, 2002

Lapeer

Paul Stoll, 59, of Lapeer, died Wednesday (March 6, 2002).
He was born Sept. 16, 1942, in St. Clair to Marvin and Viola (Reader) Stoll. He married Dixie Burrows on Feb. 1, 1964.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a tool and die welder for General Motors Corp. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially golfing.
He is survived by his wife, Dixie Stoll of Lapeer; children, Paul (Kathleen) Stoll of Holly, Sheila Simpson of Lapeer, Shari Adams of Lapeer; grandchildren, Nicholas, Zachary, Travis, Matthew and Lauren; father, Marvin Stoll of Lapeer; siblings, Harold (Judy) Stoll of Kentucky, Betty (Eugene) Shaver of Lapeer, Dallas (Faye) Stoll of Silverwood and LaDonna (Michael) Miller of Lapeer; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Viola M.Stoll in 1994.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services were Friday (March 8, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. James Sheldrake officiated.

John W. Hanner

John W. Hanner, 90, of Lapeer, died Wednesday (March 6, 2002).
He was born March 1, 1912, in Ohio, to Delbert and Elmeretta (Bryan) Hanner.
He was a lifetime area resident of Lapeer. He was a member of Calvary Bible Church. He was very civic minded. He supported Teen Ranch, Gideon Bibles and visited many people in the hospital. He was a city commissioner for nine years. He and his brother, Elmer, owned and operated Hanner Brothers Tire Store in Lapeer for many years.
He is survived by his daughters, Norma Jean (Jack) Vincent of Lakeland, Fla., Bernadene (Glenn) Shoults of Lithia, Fla., Patricia (Dan) Wolfe of Lapeer, Nancy (Clarence) Hamilton of Wyoming; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a few great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene (Bahling) Hanner in 1986; second wife, Edna (Rook) Smith Hanner in 1996; siblings, Gertude Matthews, Margaret Hanner, George Hanner, Elmer Hanner, Virginia Hanner.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Bible Church, WMPC, Teen Ranch or Gideons.
Funeral services were held Saturday (March 9, 2002) at Calvary Bible Church, Lapeer. The Rev. Arnold Bracy officiated. Burial was in Mount Hope cemetery, Lapeer.

Carol E. Judd

Carol E. Judd, 42, of Lapeer, died Tuesday (March 5, 2002).
She was born Nov. 20, 1959, in Royal Oak, to Kenneth and Barbara (Avery) Mallender.
Carol was a lifetime Lapeer area resident. She was a caregiver at the Brook Haven Adult Foster Care in Columbiaville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister and aunt.
She is survived by her children, Jennifer Judd of Davison, Brandon Judd of Lapeer; parents, Kenneth and Barbara Mallender of Lapeer; siblings, Brenda (Scott) Bessette of Lapeer, Kevin Mallender of Lapeer; grandfather, Don Avery of LaCenter, Wash.; many aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family for the children.
Funeral services wereFriday (March 8, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. David Hill officiated.

Dorena M. Gaylock
Died: Tuesday, March 05, 2002

Dorena M. Gaylock, 77, of Lapeer (formerly of Marlette), died Tuesday (March 5, 2002).
She was born April 1, 1924, in Almont, to Herman and Delilah Mae (Tyson) Tank. She married the late Kenneth Lyons in 1940, divorcing in 1968, then married George Gaylock in 1971.
She grew up in Almont, her family moved to Croswell in 1932, where she attended Black Creek School and Croswell High School. She was employed for many years as office manager of the Pontiac Office of the State of Michigan Vocational Rehabilitation Services, retiring in 1979. Following her husband's death in 1979, she worked as secretary-office manager for the Women's Survival Center in Pontiac. She retired in 1986, at which time she moved to Marlette, where she was active in the First Presbyterian Church and the Marlette Community Hospital Hospice program. She moved to Lapeer in 1994 where she was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed needlework and doll collecting.
She is survived by her sons, James (Sherri) Lyons of Rochester, Richard Lyons of Lake Orion; step-children, Richard Gaylock of Belaire, James (Cheryl) Gaylock of Waterford and Linda Thierry of Lake Orion; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Herman (Mary) Tank of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna; and brother, Frank.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund or to Church World Services.
Funeral services was Sunday (March 10, 2002) at the First Presbyterian Church, Lapeer. The Rev. Todd Smith officiated. Cremation has taken place, burial was in Ottawa Park cemetery.

Walbert Sellheim
Died: Thursday, February 28, 2002
Age: 88

Walbert Sellheim, 88, of Lexington, died Thursday (Feb. 28, 2002) at Port Huron Evangelical Home.
He was born Feb. 10, 1914 in Goodland Township. He married Katherine Makedonsky in Capac on June 3, 1944.
He was employed by Chrysler Motors for 31 years as a Packaging Engineer, retiring in 1974. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Lexington.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Sellheim of Lexington; sister, Marjorie (Bill) Schmiege of Owosso; nephew, Max (Deb) Schmiege of Brookfield, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Marion Hagle of Sterling Heights and Evelyn Bowers of Davison; brothers-in-law, Jim (Peggy) Makedonsky of Lapeer, Robert Makedonsky of Granville, Ohio, Donn (Annette) Makedonsky of Attica; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Elise Sellheim; brothers-in-law, Sam Makedonsky, Wayne Makedonsky, Don Bowers and Robert Hagle; and nephew, Terry Bowers.
Funeral services were Monday (March 4, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. The Rev. Barry Sheldon officiated. Burial was in Imlay Township cemetery, Imlay City.

Harold "Bud" Schultz
Died: Thursday, February 28, 2002
Age: 70

Lapeer

Harold Bud Schultz, 70, of Lapeer, died Thursday (Feb. 28, 2002).
He was born Feb. 5, 1932, in Essexville, to Harold and Grace (Ryers) Schultz. He married Pauline MacDonald in Flint on Sept. 18, 1954.
He was a sheet metal worker for about 15 years. He then sold Harvest Life Insurance (formerly Michigan Farmer), retiring in the middle 1990's. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was an avid hunter with over 50 years as a Michigan deer hunter and a big game hunter out West. He and his wife wintered in Polk City, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Schultz of Lapeer; children, Greg (Deb) Schultz of McMillan, Cindy (Doug) Hunt of White Lake, Cheryl Sherry (Shawn) Whitehead of Lapeer, Pat (Larry) Travis of Columbiaville, Tina (Dale) Shepherd of Flint, Chris (Dennis) Baldridge of Lapeer; 14 grandchildren; and one sister, Linda (Jim) Candea of Clio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Norman Schultz and Arlene Habian.
Memorial contributions may be made through Mass cards.
Funeral services were Monday (March 4, 2002) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lapeer. The Rev. Douglas Terrien officiated. Burial was in Mount Loretto cemetery, Lapeer.

MaryEllen Reitz
Died: Wednesday, February 27, 2002
Age: 76

MaryEllen Reitz, 76, of Lapeer, died Feb. 27,2002 at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
She was born March 13, 1925 in Highland Park. She married Robert E. Reitz at the mayor's home in Highland Park on Nov. 14, 1942.
She will be greatly missed by her loving family.
She is survived by her sons, Russell E. (Sharon) of Lapeer, Robert (Lita) of Burton and MaryEllen (Christian) Meyer of Lapeer; grandchildren, Russell (Anhel), Rob, Ryan, Bobby (Fiancˇe, Kristen), Melissa (Brian) Harris, Todd (Angela) Meyer and Adam Meyer; great-grandchildren, Marilyn, Jessie, Jared and Halie Harris.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Reitz, in September 2001; parents, Russell and Marion Dresselhouse; and stepbrothers, James and Richard Parker.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Day School, Lapeer.
Funeral services were Saturday (March 2, 2002) at St. Paul Lutheran Church. The Rev. John C. Kaiser officiated.
