Blooming Prairie, Minn.

Bernice B. Titsworth, 90, of Blooming Prairie, Minn. (formerly of Lapeer), died Feb. 20, 2002 in Rochester, Minn.
She was born Feb. 22, 1911, in Flint, to Charles and Pearl (Groner) Stone.
She married Gerald S. Titsworth and resided in the Lapeer area until their separation.
She attended Lapeer Public Schools and the County Normal School. She worked as a cook at the Lapeer County Hospital until her retirement. In 1983 she moved to Austin, Minn. She had been a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapeer and Fellowship Methodist Church in Austin.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty (Warren) Rice of Austin, Minn. and Jeaneen of Windsor, Canada; son, Jerry and (Sandra) of Syracuse, Ind.; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday (Feb. 25, 2002) at Baird-Newton Funeral Home, Lapeer. Burial was in Stiles cemetery, Lapeer.

Doris McCalpin Patreka
Died: Wednesday, February 20, 2002
Age: 66

Lapeer

Doris McCalpin Patreka, 66, of Lapeer since 1972 (formerly of Clinton), died Feb. 20, 2002.
She was born May 13, 1935, in Detroit, to Louis and Valeria (Duffek) Leskovsky. She married Charles Chuck Patreka, Jr.
She was a clerk for many years at the Lapeer County Veterans Affairs Office. Most recently, a civilian secretary for the U.S. Coast Guard Base in Detroit. She was a horse-lover and a member of the Pasifeno Horse Club. She loved to shop. Above all her passion, love and concern was with her family. She was a member of the Calvary Bible Church.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Chuck Patreka Jr. of Lapeer; children, Mark A. McCalpin of Prescott, Ariz., Valerie (Todd) Wolgast of Columbiaville, Brett McCalpin of Lapeer, Don McCalpin of Milan, Jay (Kim) McCalpin of North Branch; step-children, Joseph Patreka of Lapeer, Charles Patreka of Monroe, Jennifer Patreka of Lapeer, Sandra Metro of Washington, D.C. and Susan Bauer of New Jersey; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret (Harry) Berendt of Redford.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and mother-in-law, Mary Patreka.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Bible Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday (Feb. 23, 2002) at Calvary Bible Church. The Rev. Arnold Bracy officiated. Burial was in Mount Hope cemetery, Lapeer.

Maxine Maxwell
Died: Wednesday, February 20, 2002
Age: 74

Lapeer

Maxine Max Maxwell, 74, of Lapeer (formerly of Flint), died Feb. 20, 2002.
She was born Sept. 5, 1927, in Flint, to Howard and Margaret Phillips.
She was the barmaid at the Lake Inn for 45 years, retiring in 2001.
She is survived by her siblings, Adeline Selves of Flint, William (Janet) Phillips of Flint, Kathleen (Roy) Osmer of Flushing and Barbara Dickinson of Traverse City; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Gary (Victoria) Smith of Davison, Elaine (Scott) Sheedlo of Ovid; and many Lake Nepessing friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Funeral services were Saturday (Feb. 23, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer.

Anthony J. Sheets

Romeo

Anthony J. Sheets, 69, of Romeo, died Wednesday (Feb. 20, 2002).
He was born Jan. 3, 1933, in Berlin Towsnhip, to Leo and Alma (Hicks) Sheets.
He served with the U.S. Air Force. He retired after 38 years from General Motors in Flint.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Young) Sheets; children, Thomas W. Sheets of Romeo, Kathy Sheets of Davison, Tina (Brian) Moak of Port Huron and Helena (Mike) Sheets of Attica; grandchildren, Marie and Brandon Moak and Gail (Dan) Corbin; great-grandchildren, Damian and Makenzi Corbin; siblings, Leo Sheets of Marlette, Theodore (Lynn) Sheets of Lapeer, Eleanor (Lornie) Ogg of Dryden and Robert Sheets of Flint; mother, Alma Sheets of Dryden; parents-in-law, Bill and Donna Young of Romeo; special sister-in-law, Lisa Deriemaker of Mount Clemens; many nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Sheets, Sr.; his first wife, Marguerite; brothers, Dick and Fred.
Funeral mass was held Friday (Feb. 22, 2002) at St. Cornelius Catholic Church, Dryden. The Rev. Wayne Ureel officiated. Burial was in Mount Calvary cemetery, Imlay City.

Robert H. Taylor
Died: Tuesday, February 19, 2002
Age: 82

Lapeer/Port Charlotte, Fla.

Robert H. Taylor, 82, of Lapeer and Port Charlotte, Fla. (formerly of Roseville) died Feb. 19, 2002.
He was born May 3, 1919, in Detroit, to Howard and Olive (Palmer) Taylor. He married Phoebe McLeod in Warren in 1940.
He joined the United Auto Workers staff in 1951, becoming an important negotiator and representative for Chrysler. He was one of the original organizers of the Chrysler Mopar Unit of TOP Local 1889, he served as the first president of that Unit. He was appointed to the organizing staff by former UAW Vice President Norm Matthews and was involved in organizing many of the present local unions. After retirement he assisted with contract negotiations in Shelby Township, and Central Michigan University. He served his country during World War II as a submarine serviceman in the Navy. He enjoyed hunting and working in the yard. He especially enjoyed fishing and playing the organ and piano. He was a member of the Elks Club and American Legion in Port Charlotte.
He is survived by his wife, Phoebe; daughters, Carole (Fred) Nerone of Naples, Fla. and Judith (John) Paris of Fenton; grandchildren, Robert (Patty) Paris and John (Fiancˇ Dhana); great-grandchildren, Mariah and Adrian; brother, Howard Taylor of Madison Heights.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Preston.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
Funeral services were Friday (Feb. 22, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rev. Peter DeKlerk officiated. Burial was in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Mount Clemens.

Raymond Arthur Lindke
Died: Sunday, February 17, 2002
Age: 84

Imlay City

Raymond Arthur Lindke, 84, of Imlay City, died Sunday (Feb. 17, 2002).
He was born Sept. 23, 1917, in Goodland Township, to Christie and Alice (Ferrett) Lindke. He married Lillian Alice Becker in Imlay City on June 26, 1948.
He graduated from Imlay City High School and attended Asbury Theological Seminary, Bob Jones University and Los Angeles Baptist Seminary. He served as a Missionary in Brazil from 1950 to 1970 for New Tribes Missions. He worked for Chaso-Royco/Lear Seigler in North Branch for 10 years as a machinist. He served in the Merchant Marines in New York City, N.Y., during World War II and was a member of North Goodland Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughters, Christine Ruth (Tim) See of Camdenton, Mo., Debra (Ron) Abram of Senegal, West Africa, Loraine L. (Larry) Frost of Cleveland, Ohio; son, Stephen R. Lindke of Imlay City; 10 grandchildren; brother, Albert (Sandy) Lindke of Naples, Fla.; sisters, Eiva (Elmer) McKee of Imlay City, Sara (Rev. James) Weiss of Dearborn.
Memorial contributions may be made to the North Goodland Baptist Church Missionary Fund.
Visitation will be held 10-1 p.m.. Saturday (Feb. 23) at Faith Baptist Church, Brown City.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday (Feb. 23) at the Faith Baptist Church, Brown City. The Rev. Thomas Blount and Pastor Donald Krohn will officiate.

Died: Saturday, February 16, 2002

Donald M. Carr, 49, of Lapeer, died Feb. 16, 2002.
He was born April 24, 1952, in Detroit, to James and Doris Carr.
He is survived by his son, Robert of Oak Park; parents, James and Doris Carr of Troy; siblings, James of Dearborn, Daniel of Romeo and Kathleen Martin of Hazel Park; granddaughter, Mikayla; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday (Feb. 23, 2002) at Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home, Berkley. The Rev. Wayne N. Thomas of the First United Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in White Chapel cemetery, Troy.

Dolores J. Morse

Davison-Lapeer

Dolores J. Morse, 67, of Davison-Lapeer, died Feb. 16, 2002.
She was born Sept. 22, 1934 in Lapeer. She married Fred Morse on Dec. 23, 1953.
She was a very loving caring and giving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her loving husband, Fred; daughter and best friend, Denise (Terry) Combs of Lapeer; and granddaughters, Alicia and Allison Combs; sister, Janette (Ed) VanWagoner of Davison; many special family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Josephine Miller.
A grave side service was Wednesday (Feb. 20) at the Davison cemetery, with the Rev. Peter DeKlerk officiating.
