She was born Feb. 2, 2002, in Flint, to Steven and Maria (McNutt) Swailes.
She is survived by her parents, Steven and Maria Swailes of Metamora; brother, Joe of Metamora; grandparents, Terry (Priscilla) Swailes of Marquette and Daniel (Alice) McNutt of Lapeer; great-grandparents, Georgianna Storey of Galesburg, John (Margaret) Swailes of Motley, Minn., and Ellsworth (Shilrey) McNutt of Lapeer.
She was preceded in death by her baby sister, Megan Swailes.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hurley Foundation-Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Glenn Avery Smith
Died: Sunday, February 03, 2002

Titusville, Fla.

Glenn Avery Smith, 92, of Titusville, Fla., died Feb. 3, 2002.
He was born April 24, 1909, in Lapeer, to William and Sarah Mable (Hebberd) Smith.
He worked as a project engineer for General Motors until he retired in Titusville in 1974.
He is survived by his daughters, Carroll Jean (Eugene) Weyant of Titusville and LaNora Jane Fish of Lapeer; step-children, Merle Van Heuveln, Delores (Maynard) Forsberg, Kenneth (Joyce) Van Heuveln and Richard (Eileen) Van Heuveln, all of Minnesota; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence Ryder Smith; and his second wife, Josephine Van Heuveln Smith; 3 brothers; 1 sister; son-in-law, Walter Fish; and a step-son, Ronald Van Heuveln.
Arrangements by North Brevard Funeral Home, Titusville.

Lucile Kehn
Died: Saturday, February 02, 2002
Age: 100

Capac/Imlay City

Lucile Kehn, 100, of Capac-Imlay City, died Feb. 2, 2002, at Sanilac Medical Care Facility.
She was born June 19, 1901 in Cherokee, Texas. She married Harvey T. Kehn in Globe, Ariz. on June 7, 1920.
She was employed by Bishop Hospital in Almont as a nurse years ago. She was part owner of a blueberry farm and peat farm in the Sandusky area.
She is survived by her daughter, Myra (Jule) Dean of Imlay City; sons, Harvey T. Bud (Katherine) Kehn of Amasa, Harold Blalock of Capac; grandchildren, Deanna O'Sullivan, Susan Blalock-Reath, Julia Sterling, Deborah Kehn, Kimberley Kollman, James Kehn and Andrew Dean; 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey H. Kehn on Feb. 4, 1965; daughter, Barbara; brothers, John Cornett and Robert Beauchamp Cornett; sisters, Eulalie Allen, Velma Nye and Carrie Belle Freeman.
Funeral services were held Monday (Feb. 4, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. Burial was in Imlay Township cemetery, Imlay City.

Andrew Lewis Petitt
Died: Friday, February 01, 2002
Age: 66

Otter Lake

Andrew Lewis Petitt, 66, of Otter Lake, died Friday (Feb. 1, 2002).
He was born Jan. 23, 1936, in Flint, to Lewis and Vera (Moore) Petitt. He married Barbara (Hubble) Petitt on June 1, 1957.
He retired from General Motors in 1985. He was a member of the Otter Lake Church of the Nazarene.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Bradley (Patti) of Ohio, Leslie of Otter Lake; daughters, Lora Lee (Dan) White of Fenton, Vera Lea (Byron) Wilson of Columbiaville; 13 grandchildren; sister, Ruth Ann (Robert) Lewis of Davison; aunt, Gladys Parks of Davison; many family and friends.
Funeral services were Monday (Feb. 4, 2002) at Hudson Funeral Home Inc., Otisville. The Rev. Jim Franklin and Rev. Bradley Petitt officiated. Burial was in Hollenbeck cemetery, Columbiaville.

Evangeline A. Doneth
Died: Friday, February 01, 2002
Age: 76

Mount Pleasant

Evangeline A. Vange Doneth, 76, of Mount Pleasant, died Friday (Feb. 1, 2002).
She was born Aug. 2, 1925, in Lapeer County, to Michael and Mary (Robinet) Weingartz. She married Dr. Harold Doneth at St. Peter and Paul Church in North Branch on June 18, 1949.
She and her husband moved to Mount Pleasant in 1949. Together they owned and operated a veterinary clinic. Most important in her life was her family and her love for animals, especially her cat.
She is survived by her children, Jeanette Rau of Mount Pleasant, Richard (Rita) of Mount Pleasant, Anita of Rosebuth, Lucinda (Michael Block) of Bath, Marcia (Samuel) Richards of Mount Pleasant and Patrick of Lake Orion; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Eugene (Maureen) Weingartz, Joe (Orva) Weingartz and Bernard (Rose) Weingartz, all of North Branch; sisters, Doris (Francis) Nellenbach of North Branch, Lucille (John) Speicher of Okemos and Ruth Ann (John) Nellenbach of North Branch; sisters-in-law, Betty Weingartz of North Branch and Wilda Longan of Bloomfield Hills; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. Harold Doneth in 1992; brother, George Weingartz.
Funeral Mass was Tuesday (Feb. 5, 2002) at Sacred Heart Church, Mount Pleasant. Her nephew, Father David Speicher officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph cemetery, Beal City.

Barbara (O'Neill) Welch
Died: Thursday, January 24, 2002
Age: 63

Clifford

Barbara (O'Neill) Welch, 63, of Clifford, died Thursday (Jan. 24, 2002).
She was born Sept. 9, 1938, in Lapeer County, to Albert and Letha (Tewksbury) O'Neill. She married Ralph Welch in 1985.
She was widely known for her involvement in the community. She was one of the founders of the North Branch Thrift Shop and the North Branch Emergency Aide. She was an active member of the North Branch United Methodist Church, where she held leadership positions in the church. She was also an active member of the North Branch Lioness, Order of Eastern Star, Lapeer County United Way and was the Past President of the Chamber of Commerce. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph; special brother, Ed (Ellen) Buckner of Clifford; her special family John (Loretta) Buckner, Jim (Carrie) Buckner, David Buckner; 4 grandchildren; 9 brothers and sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family for use at their discretion.
Visitation will be held 1-8 p.m., Sunday (Jan. 27, 2002) at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home, North Branch.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday (Jan. 28, 2002) at North Branch United Methodist Church. The Rev. Wayne Ferrigan will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery.

Eva M. Gottler
Died: Thursday, January 24, 2002
Age: 75

Brown City

Eva M. Gottler, 75, of Brown City (formerly of Marlette), died Thursday (Jan. 24, 2002) at Marlette Community Hospital, Marlette.
She was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Flint, to John and Martha (Kunz) Ellis. She married Randy Gottler in Los Vegas, Nevada in March of 1992.
She lived in Brown City since 1968. She graduated from Richland High School in 1944 and attended Kalamazoo Beauty School for 2 years. She worked several years for Hamil Manufacturing and Plasta Fiber. Eva was President of Yale Lions Club, a former city council women of Brown City, member of the Eastern Stars Washington Chapter 199, Brown City Awareness Committee, chairperson of the American Red Cross, Brown City Blood Drive, Burnside Senior Citizens, Brown City Homecoming, Muscular Dystrophy Association and Brown City Friends of the Museum.
She is survived by her husband, Randy; daughter, Linda Yockey of Brown City; son, John (Joy) Yockey of Murphy, Texas; 5 step-sons, Mark (Ethel) of St. Clair, Mike of Harrison Twp., Randy (Linda) of Phoenix, Ariz., Ronn Andrea of Yale, Jackie (David) Griel of Goshen, Ind.; sister, Virginia Adamic of North Branch; 15 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brother, Robert; and a step-son.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Yale Lions Club for Leader Dogs for the Blind or Bear Lake Camp.
Funeral services were held Monday (Jan. 28, 2002) at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette. Pastor Dallas Berry officiated. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery, Brown City.

Georgia R. Vaughan
Died: Wednesday, January 23, 2002
Age: 64

Pearland, Texas

Georgia R. Vaughan, 64, of Pearland, Texas, died Jan. 23, 2002.
She died suddenly following a stroke. She was a former resident of Lapeer and a 1955 graduate of Lapeer High School.
She is survived by her mother, Rae Cetas; children, Kimm Jo and Jeffery C.; 2 grandchildren; and brother, Tomas C. Cetas.

Jill L. Delmotte

Jill L. Delmotte, 57, of Marlette (formerly of Clifford), died Wednesday (Jan. 23, 2002).
She was born Oct. 21, 1944, in Detroit, to Frank and Lena (Lynch) Prevost.
She attended the Charity Baptist Church in Marlette.
She is survived by her mother, Lena Prevost of Marlette; daughters, Carrie Sarles of Marlette, Kathy (Greg) McCombs of Marlette, Tammy (Gerald) Huntley of Vassar; son, Joseph Delmotte of Marlette; brother, LeRoy (Marge) Prevost of Southfield; 8 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Prevost; and granddaughter, Sandra McCombs.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services were held Friday (Jan. 25, 2002) at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette. Pastor Jeff Walters of the Charity Baptist Church officiated. Burial was in Marlette cemetery, Marlette.
