Adrian A. John Theeuwes, 84, of Lapeer, died Thursday (Jan. 3, 2002).
He was born May 23, 1917 to Jacob and Maria (Johannas) Theeuwes.
Mr. Theeuwes served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion Post 16 in Lapeer. John was a farmer. He worked at Oakdale Center until retirement. He and his wife, Ernestine, have been married for 58 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ernestine of Lapeer; children, Donald (Rory) of Memphis, TN, Karen (Homer) Tucker of Shreveport, LA, Karl (Mary) of Lapeer, James (Jan) of Cory, PA; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother; 2 sisters; and great grandson.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Mass Cards or the charity of your choice.
Funeral services were held Monday (Jan. 7, 2002) at the Immaculate Conception Church, Lapeer. Father Douglas Terrien officiated. Burial was in Hart cemetery, Hart, MI.

Bill Shafer
Died: Wednesday, January 02, 2002
Age: 83

Lum

Bill Shafer, 83, of Lum, died Jan. 2, 2002.
He was born Sept. 1, 1918, in Thornville, to Jessy and Jenny (Saulsberry) Shafer.
Mr. Shafer was a lifetime area resident and served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was employed by the Imlay City Foundry. Bill was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his children, Stewart (Cathie) of Metamora, Lee Ottie Thayer of Columbiaville, Sonya (David) Cain of Mayville, Bill (Karen) of Lum, Doris (Russell) Neighorn of Blanchard, David of Lapeer, Marietta (Nelson) Chauvin of Lapeer, Nancy (Mike) Simpson of Blanchard, Betty Fry of Mikado, Rollie (Marie) Halstead of Lapeer; 32 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Valerie; parents; siblings, Norm, Ed, Jay and Caroline.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Funeral services were held Saturday (Jan. 5, 2002) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Rev. James Sheldrake officiated. Burial was in Lum cemetery, Lum.

Faith M. Schaaf
Died: Wednesday, January 02, 2002

Lapeer

Faith M. Schaaf, 58, of Lapeer, died Jan. 2, 2002.
She was born Jan.19, 1943, in Valparaiso, Ind., to Joseph H. and Kathleen (Johnson) Bower. She married Charles Schaaf in Lapeer on May 20, 1971.
She graduated from Quincy High School in 1961 and attended Grand Rapids Baptist College. She was very proud and committed to the funeral industry. She was the Family Services Counselor for the Baird-Newton Funeral Home of Lapeer, where she completed 25 years of funeral service before she went home to be with the Lord. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Flint. Faith enjoyed working in the Nursery, being one of the church organists and shopping for all of the showers and weddings. Faith enjoyed helping everyone and always put herself last, she loved people God and her family.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; son, Chad (Melissa) of Burton; daughter, Christy of Lapeer; grandson, Carter; father, Joseph H. (Florence) Bower of Davison; siblings, Ruth (Rev. John) Fields of Bronson, David (Donna) Bower of Indiana, Miriam (Kenneth) DeVaney of Vicksburg and Becky (Gordon) Grieves of Tennessee; parents-in-law, Ralph and Ardis of Davison; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sharon (Larry) Kennel of Imlay City, Carol (Ed) Bowman of Lapeer, Mary Knuth of Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathleen Bower.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmanuel Baptist Church or to the Harmonia Fellowship International Mission.
Funeral services were held Sunday (Jan. 6, 2002) at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Flint. Burial was in Mt. Hope cemetery, Lapeer.

Glenn Hall
Died: Sunday, December 30, 2001
Age: 65

Lapeer

Glenn Hall, 65, of Lapeer, died Dec. 30, 2001 at Lapeer Regional Hospital.
He was born Sept. 28, 1936 in Bad Axe. He married Doris Bradley on Feb. 1, 1958.
He served his country in the U.S. Army. Glenn retired from the Lapeer County Road Commission, completing 27 years of service. He was a loving father to all of his children.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl Ann (Al) Redden of Lake Orion, Terrence (Maria) of Calif., Michael K. of Davison, Richard W. (Marsha) of Mo. and Colleen Flowers of N.C.; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Heidi, Brandon, Shawn, Terrance, Bradley, Felica, Nicole, Chelsa, Andrea, Daniel, Erin and Skylar; step-granddaughters, Stacey and Janelle; great-grandson, Paul Joseph; siblings, Dale of Pt. Austin, Don (Lorrley) of Dryden, Melva Benson of Calif., Helen (Ken) Woodhrip of Flushing, Ardith (Leroy) Wooster of Pt. Austin, Mildred (Don) Van Reken of Holland and Edith (Gerald) Miner of Midland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris on Dec. 10, 2000; and their son Jim.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
Funeral services were held Friday (Jan. 4, 2002) at Baird-Newton Funeral Home, Lapeer. Rev. Chuck Steiner officiated. Burial was in Dawn Memorial cemetery.

Helen M. Thompson

Helen M. Thompson, 79, of Lapeer, died Dec. 29, 2001.
She was born Aug. 14, 1922, in Lapeer, to Edward and Mary (McCaray) Browne. She married Neil J. Thompson in Lapeer on July 18, 1945.
Mrs. Thompson was a lifetime Lapeer area resident and a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. She enjoyed dinners with the hospital retirees group, crossword puzzles and her cats. Helen was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.
She is survived by her children, Ann Palmer of Lapeer, Carol (Robert) Smith of Columbiaville, Mary (Kieth) Marston of Lapeer, Jean (Robert) Schmidt of Lapeer, Alan (Chris) of Naperville, Ill., Rita (Al) Korth of Attica; grandchildren, Mary, Catherine, Charles, Julie, Miki, Carrie, Robert II, Jaime, Ty, Jennifer, Nicole, Kevin, Casey, Jessie and Chad; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Smith of Lapeer; brother, Charles (Betty) Browne of Fort Collins, Colo.; sister-in-law, Louise; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Neil in 1978; and her parents.
Funeral services were held Dec. 31, 2001 at Immaculate Conception Church, Lapeer. Father Douglas Terrien officiated. Burial was in Mt. Loretto cemetery, Lapeer.

Patricia Jane Owens
Died: Saturday, December 29, 2001
Age: 58

Attica

Patricia Jane Owens, 58, of Attica, died Dec. 29, 2001.
She was born Sept. 9, 1943, in Brown City, to Max and Ethel Millikin. She married William Owens in Sanilac County in 1963.
Patricia worked for Master Signal in Lapeer. She divorced in the late 1970's. She was a resident of Attica for over 30 years. She passed away in her home after a short illness.
She is survived by her children, Kimberly (James) Colmer of Gaines, Todd (Andrea) of Attica, Jeffrey (Rebecca) of Marine City, Tyler of Dryden; grandchildren, Hannah, Wil and Ethan Colmer, Alex Owens; sisters, Bonnie (Clee) Bisset, Maxine (Chuck) Halbert, Nancy (Rex) Webb and Judy (Larry) Krause.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother Thomas.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lapeer Area Hospice or to the wishes of the family.
A memorial service was held on Friday (Jan. 4, 2001) at Attica Township Hall.

Robert C. Poole
Died: Saturday, December 29, 2001
Age: 82

Hillman

Robert C. Poole, 82, of Hillman, died Dec. 29, 2001 at Alpena General Hospital.
He was born March 25, 1919 in Troy. He married Catherine Trune in Columbiaville in May of 1956.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Northern Solomons and Southern Philippines.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine; daughter, Linda Bruce of Schererville, Ind.; step-daughter, Yvonne (Bill) Rutherford of Hillman; step-son, William (Marie) of Lapeer; sisters, Edith Curtiss of Lapeer and Margaret Thomas of Fredricksburg, Va.; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his 2 brothers.
Cremation has taken place, a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Elizabeth Jean Liptak

Elizabeth Jean Liptak, 78, of Spokane, Wash. (formerly of Davison), died Dec. 29, 2001.
She was born in Flint to Clayton and Helen (Hawke) Ross. She married Joseph William Liptak in Davison in 1946.
She was a member and church secretary at the Davison First Baptist Church and Judson Baptist Church of Burton.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen Hewitt of Buford, S.C., Susanne (Frank) Horan of St. Clair Shores, Martha (Dan) Helmer of Airway Heights, Wash., Richard (Deborah) of Sunfield, Barbara of Petoskey, Mary Ellen (James) Mellish of Columbiaville; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Helen) Ross of Otisville, Wilfred (Jean) Ross of Davison and Arizona, Clifford (Wanda) Ross of Higgins Lake and Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph in June 1976; and her parents.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer Association.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Monday (Jan. 7, 2002) at Hill Funeral Home, Grand Blanc. Pastor Karl Unger will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood cemetery, Grand Blanc.
