Jean E. Harmer, 81, of Lapeer, died Sept. 11, 2001.

She was born Aug. 5, 1920, in Midland, to Robert and Nellie (Whetstone) Muir.

She graduated from Yale High School in 1937. She graduated from Bronson Methodist School of Nursing in 1941. She married Fred Harmer. I've had a good life mostly due to my husband Fred. He has always looked after me in a kind and loving way. I had good parents, we were always a close family. Our son and daughter-in-law have been a source of comfort to us and have helped us. I enjoyed the time I was able to spend with the grandchildren when they were young. Now as young adults I am proud of both of them. I've had good caring people around me and I'm grateful for that.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Fred; son, Robert (Susan) of Northville; grandchildren, James (Amy) of Holt; Angela of Royal Oak; 2 great-grandchildren; aunts, Jean Smith and Edna Strafford of Columbiaville and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Attica United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held Friday (Sept. 14, 2001) at Muir Brother Funeral Home, Lapeer. Rev. Cliff Schroeder officiated. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Dryden.

Jean M. Greener
Died: Tuesday, September 11, 2001

Lapeer

Jean M. Greener, 78, of Lapeer, died Sept. 11, 2001.

She was born April 10, 1923, in Mayville, to Wilbert and Mina (Barron) Mawdesley. She married Donald Greener in Mayville on March 22, 1947.

Jean was a dental assistant to Dr. Dirk Loubser in Lapeer for 28 years. She worked for Lapeer Community Schools for 22 years, retiring in 1993. Since her retirement, she had worked for the Book Shelf in downtown Lapeer.

She is survived by her children, Jill (Rick) Owen of Lapeer, John (Sheri) of Lapeer; grandchildren, Sara, Todd, David, Charlie, Danny, Shannon and Audrey; siblings, Don (Hartie) Mawdesley of Frankenmuth, June Menig of Royal Oak; brother-in-law, Glenn Haske of Reese; sister-in-law, Jean Mawdesley of Caro; former exchange student, Cornelia Sperling of Germany; special niece, Cindy Kenyon and family of Bloomfield; special friends, Pete and Cheryl McCreedy and their sons, Peter, Joshua and Todd; life long friend Elizabeth DesJardins; friend and caregiver, Mary Jane Lang and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 1996; siblings, Mae, Alice and Walter; and her parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to Genesys Hospice or Save The Children.

Funeral services were held Saturday (Sept. 15, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Rev. Todd Smith officiated. Burial was in Rich Township cemetery.

Hilda Marie Potter
Died: Sunday, September 09, 2001

Lapeer

Hilda Marie Potter, 77, of Lapeer, died Sunday (Sept. 9, 2001) at the Lapeer County Medical Care Facility.

She was born Aug. 9, 1923, in Silverwood, to Christopher and Sophie (Rappuhn) Margrif.

She retired from Oakdale Center of Lapeer completing over 25 years. She attended the Lapeer Free Methodist Church and was a member of the Lapeer Eagles. She will be greatly missed by her loving family.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Stieve of Lapeer; grandson, Brian Stieve of Lapeer; sisters, Emma Hutchinson of Florida, Frieda (Dwight) Weir of Lapeer; brothers, Carl Margrif of Hale and David (Dorothy) Margrif of Lapeer; dear friend, Margaret Duff of Lapeer and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Clara White; brothers, Christ, Edward, Otto, Donald and Frederick Margrif.

Memorial contributions may be made to the McLaren Hospice.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m., Friday (Sept. 14, 2001) at the Free Methodist Church of Lapeer, 1621 North Saginaw Street, Lapeer. Pastor Keith Parker will officiate.

Aaron M. McKinstry
Died: Sunday, September 09, 2001

Lapeer

Aaron M. McKinstry, 25, of Lapeer, died Sunday (Sept. 9, 2001).

He was born Sept. 3, 1976, in Flint, to Ronald and Linette (Lonsberry) McKinstry.

Aaron was a loving son, brother, nephew and cousin. He worked for Lake Orion Overhead Door and Fireplace where he installed doors and openers. Aaron thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, he loved both hunting and fishing. He was an avid sports enthusiast.

He is survived by his parents, Ronald and Linette of Lapeer; brothers, Jeremy (Fiancˇ Alyssa Imel) of North Branch, Jacob of Lapeer; grandparents, Jim and Wanda Lonsberry of South Carolina and Helen and Clare of Lapeer; many aunts, uncles and cousins; special friend, Devon Batzloff.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday (Sept. 12, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Pastor Elwin Hazen will officiate.

Lorraine M. DeNeen
Died: Sunday, September 09, 2001

Almont

Lorraine M. DeNeen, 81, of Almont, died Sunday (Sept. 9, 2001).

She was born Sept. 3, 1920, in Detroit, to Robert and Martha (Westphal) Natzel.

She married Louis R. DeNeen in Rochester on Nov. 27, 1946.

She was a charter member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Rochester and a charter member of Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church in Dryden. Special thanks to McLaren Hospice and all the angels of Mercy who ministered to her.

She is survived by her children, Robert L. (Betty) of Rochester, Pauline J. Cieslak of Rochester, Marilyn M. (Kenneth) Yelland of Yuma, Ariz., Ida L. (Robert) Lloyd of Almont, Ada (Chuck) Sanday of Allenton and Dale E. (Connie) of Lapeer; 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Natzel and sister, Hilda Gibson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Louis, son, William Buster; daughter, Carol G. Convery; brothers, Waldeman Natzel, Robert Natzel and Earl Natzel and her sister, Laura Kuck.

Memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice or Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church Building Fund.

Funeral services were held Tuesday (Sept. 11, 2001) at Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church, Dryden. Rev. Steven C. Helms officiated. Burial was in Webster cemetery, Almont.

Adam Joseph Bell
Died: Sunday, September 09, 2001

Mayville

Adam Joseph Bubby Bell, 21, of Mayville, died Sunday (Sept. 9, 2001).

He was born Aug. 5, 1980, in Lapeer, to Dennis and Carrie (Beebe) Bell.

He grew up in the Fostoria area and attended Mayville High School, he graduated from Caro High School in 2001. While attending school he played baseball, soccer and was on the wrestling team. Adam enjoyed bull-riding, motorcycling, swimming and jetskiing. He also enjoyed spending time with his sister, Sarah, who was his best friend and pal. Adam was working as a steel worker and was a member of the Iron Workers Local #25.

He is survived by his mother, Carrie of Florida; father, Dennis (Brenda) of Mayville; sister, Sarah of Florida; step-brother, Jonathon Lyons of Mayville; grandparents, Darlene Wilcox of Flint, Harold Beebe of Florida, Beulah Bell of Fostoria; great-grandparents, Elsie Beebe of Flint and Lucille Wilcox of Davison; step-grandmother, Marilyn Cole of Mackinac City; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Daniel Bell; step-grandfather, Merritt Cole.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Visitation will be held 11-1 p.m. and 5-8 p.m., Wednesday (Sept. 12, 2001) at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home, North Branch.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday (Sept. 13, 2001) at the West Deerfield Methodist Church. Burial will be in West Deerfield cemetery.

Marguerite "Margie" Chadden
Died: Saturday, September 08, 2001

Lapeer

Marguerite Margie Chadden, 55, of Lapeer (formerly of South Haven), died Saturday (Sept. 8, 2001).

She was born Aug. 14, 1946, in South Haven, to Clifford and Madeline (Kohler) Chadden.

Miss Chadden was a Speech Pathologist at Oakdale Center and Caro State Hospital, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Sierra Club.

She is survived by her brother, Donald of St. Augustine, Fla.; niece, Andrea; several aunts, uncles and cousins; best friends, JoAnne Surdu of Lapeer and Phyllis Anderson of Sylvan Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents and baby brother.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or American Diabetes Association.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday (Sept. 12, 2001) at Filbrandt Family Funeral Home, South Haven. Pastor Tom Shannon will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview cemetery, South Haven.

Donald "Roy" Williams
Died: Friday, September 07, 2001

Lapeer

Donald Roy Williams, 85, of Lapeer, died Friday (Sept. 7, 2001).

He was born Oct. 8, 1915, in Kingsmill, to James and Ethel (Hunter) Williams.

He married Ida Mae McMeans in Pontiac on Aug. 31, 1935.

Mr. Williams served his country in the U.S. Navy during Word War II. He was a farmer and carpenter most of his life, retiring in 1976. He enjoyed hunting and woodworking. Roy built many things for many people. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a former member of the Metamora Lions Club.

He is survived by his son, Howard C. of Lapeer; daughter, Dorothy Mae Schmidt of East Lansing; grandchildren, Kathy (Lynell) Gayken of Chaska, Minn., Tim (Laurie) of Clifford, Jeff of Wisner, Neb., Stephen (Susan) Schmidt of Medford, Mass., Gretchen Schmidt of Madison, Wis.; great-grandchildren, James, Sarah and Sydney, Laura Schmidt, Joseph Schmidt; brother, Russell (Bea) of Tuscon, Ariz., sister-in-law, Mabel LaPorte of Port Huron; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Mae on Sept. 21, 2000; sisters, Dorothy Neeley, Margory Williams, Pearl Frick, Violet Duberville and his parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church. Lapeer or McLaren Hospice.

Funeral services were held Monday (Sept. 10, 2001) at Trinity United Methodist Church, Lapeer. Rev. Terry Euper officiated. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Dryden.
