Kimberly Kay Montgomery, 27, of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and Chicago (formerly of Lapeer) died Wednesday (Oct. 3, 2001).

She was born June 5, 1974 in Seoul, Korea.

Kimberly graduated from Lapeer West High School in 1992. Since graduation she has worked for various Internet development companies including, Caught In The Web, Inc., Digit Interactive, Inc. and Web Design Group, Inc. Most recently Kimberly was the Director of Creative Design for Sapient Corporation in Chicago. She was a passionate artist. Kim loved the city-life and traveling.

She is survived by her parents, David and Cecelia (Parsch) of Lapeer, Fiancˇ Philip Hogarth of Ottawa; brother, James of Lapeer; grandmother, Faith of Lapeer; dear niece, Lydia Andrews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harrison Montgomery and Vincent and Margaret Parsch.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mass Cards or the Kimberly Montgomery Scholarship Fund. Checks payable to David Montgomery.

Visitation will be held 1-8 p.m., Wednesday (Oct. 10, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Thursday (Oct. 11, 2001) at Immaculate Conception Church, Lapeer. Father David Parsch will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Loretto cemetery, Lapeer.

Edna Rosalie Proulx
Died: Monday, October 01, 2001
Age: 89

Metamora

Edna Rosalie Proulx, 89, of Metamora, died Monday (Oct. 1, 2001).

She was born Jan. 1, 1912, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Canada, to John and Lou (Sylvester) Murphy. She married Edmund Lambert Proulx in Detroit, in 1934.

Mrs. Proulx worked very hard her entire life. She and her husband owned and operated many businesses and Edna did the accounting for all of them. Mrs. Proulx also worked for many local manufacturers doing their accounting.

She is survived by her children, Rosalie (Bob) Parr of Brown City, Anne (Tom) Kinch of Oxford, Linda Smith of Fairview, Jane Yorks of Metamora, Steven (Sue) of Dryden, Cathy Moore of Oxford and David (Debbie) of Lapeer; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Williamson of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Gerry Murphy of Texas; brothers, Jim Murphy and Franklin Murphy of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund in 1974; sons, Samuel and Carl; parents, John and Lou Murphy.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mass Cards.

Visitation will be held 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m., Wednesday (Oct. 3, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. A Scripiture service will be held 7:30 p.m., Wednesday (Oct. 3, 2001) at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Thursday (Oct. 4, 2001) at Immaculate Conception Church, Lapeer. Father Janusz Iwan will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Loretto cemetery, Lapeer.

Edward A. Allen
Died: Saturday, September 29, 2001
Age: 73

Brown City

Edward A. Allen, 73, of Brown City, died Sept. 29, 2001 at Marlette Community Hospital.

He was born April 21, 1928, in Kings Mill, to Frank and Alma Allen. He married Norene Raymond on June 13, 1953.

He was employed at the National Twist Drill in Rochester for 33 years. He had also been a farmer and excavator for 10 years. He worked as a maintenance man at Riverview Towers for 10 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Norene; sons, Jeffery (Pam) of Maryland, Charles of West Branch and Michael (Cathy) of White Lake, Rebecca of Davison; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Aileen Ford of Lapeer and Pauline Silkowski of Utica.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Williams and brother, Leo.

A Military service was held Tuesday (Oct. 2, 2001) at Baird-Newton Funeral Home, Lapeer. Pastor Arnold Bracy officiated. Burial was in Mt. Hope cemetery, Lapeer.

William D. VanDusen
Died: Saturday, September 29, 2001
Age: 92

Southern Pines, N.C.

William D. Van Dusen, 92, of Southern Pines, N.C., died Saturday (Sept. 29, 2001) at Penick Village, Southern Pines, N.C.

Bill was a graduate of Dartmouth College. He served for many years on boards of the hospital, bank, school, church, Red Cross and Cancer Society in the Lapeer area. He was also a member of the Tin Whistles in Pinehurst.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty; son, Charles (Sally) of Michigan; daughters, Julie (Don) Gardner, Harriet Daigle of Colorado and Elizabeth (Dexter) Bucklin of New Hampshire; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Penick Village, P.O. Box 2001, Southern Pines, N.C., 28388.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday (Oct. 6, 2001) at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Southern Pines, N.C.

Robert Richardson
Died: Saturday, September 29, 2001
Age: 78

Lapeer

Robert Bob Richardson, 78, of Lapeer, died Saturday (Sept. 29, 2001).

He was born Aug. 9, 1923, in Belding, MI, to William and Emma (Rassmussen) Richardson. He married Lucile Lucy Platt on February 15, 1947.

Mr. Richardson served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II. He worked in final motor repair for Buick Motors for almost 40 years, retiring in 1987. Bob was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his children, Robert Jr. (Janene) of Pinckney, Judith (Tom) Dalgleish of Lapeer, Thomas (Colleen), William (Walt Kroupa) of Elk Rapids; 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucile Lucy on Feb. 21, 2001; twin daughters, Peggy and Patty; parents; siblings, Dorothy and Arvon.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Lapeer.

Funeral services were held Tuesday (Oct. 2, 2001) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Rev. Terry Euper officiated. Burial was in Stiles cemetery, Lapeer.

Rose Mary Budzyn

Almont

Rose Mary Budzyn, 85, of Almont, died Saturday (Sept. 29, 2001) at Port Huron Hospital.

She was born Jan. 9, 1916 in Toledo, Ohio. She married John A. Budzyn in Detroit on Jan. 22, 1940.

She was a home maker. She was a member of St. Kieran Catholic Church, Utica.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Anne Hansen of Almont, Dolores (Bruce) Natzel of Rochester Hills; son, John Joseph (Gloria) of Richmond; 8 grandchildren, Robert, Franklin, Vicki Brady, Troy Hansen, Tammy Hudson, Tuesday Queener, Rosemary Haacke and Bruce Natzel II; 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Stella Florek of Royal Oak; brothers, John Cackowski of Florida, Frank Cackowski of Detroit and Anthony Cackowski of Detroit.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Aloyius Budzyn; sister, Mary Shurgot; grandson, Tully John Hansen and Kristen Hansen; 3 great-grandchildren, Joshua Haacke, Kristen Hensen and Kevin Queener.

Funeral services were held Tuesday (Oct. 2, 2001) at St. Kieran Catholic Church, Utica. Entombment was in Resurrection cemetery, Clinton Twp.

Laura Smith
Died: Friday, September 28, 2001
Age: 65

Clifford

Laura Smith, 65, of Clifford, died Friday (Sept. 28, 2001) at the University of Michigan Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 16, 1935, in Tawas City, to Russell and Helen (Ulman) Featheringill. She married Allen Smith in Lum on May 10, 1957.

Laura grew up in Lapeer County and attended the Lapeer School District. She retired from Oakdale State Hospital. Laura Attended Silverwood United Methodist Church and Clifford TOPS Club. She enjoyed traveling, reading and crocheting.

She is survived by her sons, Rick (Julie) Toole of Attica, Terry of California, Dennis of Clifford; daughter, Denise (Pete) Phillips of Columbiaville; grandchildren, Jessica and Joshua Toole, Krystal and Terri Phillips, Caitlyn and Jeannine Walter; sisters, Wanda (Fred) Sontag of Clifford, Betty (Harold) Woolard of Lapeer and Iva (Roy) Choate of Florida; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen Smith; son, James Allen; brother, Merlin Featheringill.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Silverwood United Methodist Church or charity of your choice.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday (Oct. 3, 2001) at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. Rev. Ronald Hutchinson will officiate. Burial will be in West Deerfield cemetery.

Crystal Sager
Died: Tuesday, December 18, 2001
Age: 76

Madison Twp.

Crystal Cris Sager, 76, of Madison Twp., died Tuesday (Dec. 18, 2001).

She was born June 27, 1925, in Hudson, to Carl and Beatrice (Beatty) Deisler. She married Arden Sager on May 23, 1944.

She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Margery and Maurice Griffin. She graduated from Lyons High School on May 23, 1944, the same day she married Arden. Cris owned and operated the Twins Dairy Grill for many years. She died at home after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. She enjoyed playing bingo, cooking, playing the slot machines and going camping with her husband and family. Since Arden retired they spent the past 16 years at their winter home in Mesa, Ariz.

She is survived by her husband, Arden; children, Richard (Vicky) of Lapeer, Judy (Jim) Smith of Adrian, Peggy of Adrian and Jack (Janet) of Sand Creek; her foster daughter, Ruth Ann Sutton of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Juanita Fenkell of Canton, Fayma (Walter) Johnson of Clark Lake, Wanda (Homer) Donaldson of Adrian, Wavah (Gordon) Deline of Ocala, Fla.; grandchildren, Kayleen Beacom, Stacia Hedrick, Shane, Amanda and Shawn, Tonya Walker, Kimberly Britt, Yvonne Sanders, Karen Austin and David Smith, Libby and Lance; 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; aunt and uncle, Margery and Maurice Griffin; brothers, Rayvon and Dr. Rex Deisler; grandson, Jimmy Smith; great-grandchildren, Elani and Stephanie Sanders.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sand Creek Community Church, Hospice of Lenawee or to the charity of choice.

Funeral services were held Saturday (Dec. 22, 2001) at Anderson Funeral Home. Pastor Matt Gordon officiated. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian.
