Lester I. "Butch" Yinger, 64, of Jonesville, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 23, 1945 in Hillsdale to Irving & Mary (St.John) Yinger. He was married September 22, 1963 to Sharon Persons and she survives.

Butch was a former employee of A.C.T. Laboratory and Essex Wire. He was a former member of the Hillsdale County Conservation Club and the Corvette Club of Bryan, Ohio.

Surviving besides his wife Sharon are 2 children, Sheryl (Kal) Hoag of Concord and Micheal (Michelle) Yinger of Somerset; two exchange students, Akiko Taniyama of Osaka, Japan and Takako Kishida of Toyooka, Japan; 3 grandchildren, Kal "K.C." Hoag and Adam & Brie Yinger; 3 sisters, Sharon (Fred) Demongeot of Osseo, Shirley (Bill) Powers of Concord and Dawn (Ron) Kaffenberger of New Weston, Ohio; 4 brothers, Robert (Carol) Yinger of Homer, Russell (Barbara) Yinger of Hillsdale, Raymond (Cindy) Yinger of Greenville, Ohio and Howard (Millie) Yinger of North Adams; and many special nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and a brother, Richard.

Memorial services for Butch Yinger will be Monday, March 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Richard L. Rice officiating. Interment of cremains will follow at Sunset View cemetery in Jonesville. The family will receive friends for visitation Sunday from 3-5 p.m., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Connolly Grace Roach Medical Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home or you may mail contributions to Edward Jones, 24 Woodstock Rd., Roswell, GA. 30075.

Isabella M. Sweet, 98, of Hillsdale, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2009, at the Hillsdale Community Health Center. She was born April 14, 1910 in Waterloo, Indiana to George & Rosella (Royal) Werner. She was married June 1, 1932 to Kenneth Sweet and he preceded her in death in 1975.

Isabella was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and a member of the Alter Rosary Society. She was a former member of the Medical Care Facility Auxiliary and the A.A.R.P.

Isabella is survived by nieces, nephews, and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter Ardis in 2005, another daughter, four sisters and a brother.

A mass of Christian burial will be Monday, March 2, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hillsdale with Fr. Ioane Sigarara as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Anthony cemetery. There will be a visitation Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until services at 11:00 a.m., at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Joanne E. Bell
February 23, 1955 - February 22, 2010

Joanne Bell, 54, of Morenci passed away Monday, February 22, 2010, at The Toledo Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. She was born on February 23, 1955, in Wauseon, Ohio, the daughter of Kenneth & Eda (Liechty) Bates. On April 16, 1977, she married Dwight McCarty. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1991. On March 20, 1998, in Toledo, Ohio, she married Larry Bell Sr. and he survives. Jeanette Valentine took the responsibility of raising Joanne after her mother, Eda, passed away when Joanne was five years old. Jeanette preceded Joanne in death on January 1, 2000.

Joanne was a homemaker living in the Morenci area all of her life. She was a graduate of the Wauseon High School class of 1973, and was a member of the New Haven Church.

Besides her husband, Larry, Joanne is survived by a daughter, Tobi (Larry) Bates Wood of Cleveland, Ohio; a sister, Dorene (Bill) Stubbins of Wauseon, Ohio; four step daughters, Gwen McCarty, Paula (David) French, Amanda Bell, and Tabatha (David) Bell; four step sons, Kevin McCarty, Eric (Lori) McCarty, Larry (Marcell) Bell Jr. and Robert Bell; fifteen grandchildren, Brian (Anna) Wood, Ashleigh (Nick Keesaman) Wood, Alex Ortiz, Anthony Wood, Alyssa Miller, Andrew Wood, Jace Wedel, Larry Bell III, Shaila Wedel, Ashley Bell, Courtney Bell, Maggie Mae Bell, Jossalyn Rose Bell, Alivia Bell and Mariah Bell; three great grandchildren, Jason Boyer, Brianna Wood and Alex Wood; best friend, Pam(Brad) Zibbell of Adrian; and second mother to Kimberly (Marcus) Cottom, Heidi (Chris) Fleming and Andrew Zibbell.

Besides her first husband, Dwight McCarty, Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Alana Bell; and a brother, Alan Bates.

Funeral service will be on Thursday, February 25, 2010, at 3:00 PM at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Pastor Robert Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at the Butler cemetery in Chesterfield, Ohio. There will be a visitation on Thursday from 1:00 PM until the time of service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the America Cancer Society or to the family.

Harley Junior Wilson
January 25, 1932 - December 18, 2009

Harley Junior Wilson, age 77, of Osseo, passed away Friday, December 18, 2009 at home. He was born January 25, 1932 in Ransom Township to Harley F. & Vera (Lickley) Wilson. He was married May 26, 1967 to Mary Jane Raymond and she survives.

Harley retired in 1997 from Hillsdale Tool and was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of the Waldron VFW. He loved fly fishing and took great pride in watering flowers for the city of Hillsdale.

Surviving besides his wife Mary Jane are three daughters, Melissa (Richard) Miller of Harrison, Cindy (Tom) Elder of Quincy, Jo (Alston) Minor of Duluth, Georgia; three sons, Harley Eugene (Sabrina) Wilson of Hillsdale, Harley Dean (Janine) Wilson of Waldron, Raymond Lee (Lisa) Pepple of Pittsford; two sisters, Faith (Pat) Taylor of Adrian, Juanita Curtis of Hillsdale; fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Harley was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Harley Wilson will Monday, December 21, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Dr. Sam Wickard officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove cemetery, Jefferson Township. Military Honors will be provided by Hillsdale American Legion Post #53. The family will receive friends for visitation Sunday from 3-5 P.M. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Hillsdale County or the American Lung Association.

Larry D. Fellows
October 26, 1959 - August 25, 2009

Larry D. Fellows, 49, of Waldron, Michigan passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at his home. He was born October 26, 1959, in Gary, Indiana the son of Landon Duane and Nancy Sue (Goodrich) Fellows. He married Tammy Metcalf on February 14, 2008, in Hillsdale, Michigan and she survives.

Larry was a self employed milk hauler for over 32 years and owner of Fellows Trucking in Waldron. He graduated from Waldron High School Class of 1978, was a member of Michigan Milk Haulers Association and enjoyed collecting toy tractors and semis. He dearly loved his family and will be greatly missed by all.

Surviving Larry besides his wife, Tammy is one daughter, Dawn Fellows of Coldwater; one son, Bert (Cindy) Fellows of Pittsford; three step children, Crystal Rau of Catawba, Ohio; Cory Rau of Waldron and John (Crystal) Rau of Waldron; three grandchildren, Ethan, Austin, and Michaela; two sisters, Lesta Preston of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Priscilla Fellows of Phoenix, Arizona; one brother, Jim (Ann) Fellows of Waldron; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Larry will be Saturday, August 29, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson with Rev. Clyde Wonders officiating. Interment will follow in Prattville cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may make memorial contributions to Waldron F.F.A. or Hospice of Southeastern Michigan.

Tonya Anne Morse
May 21, 1960 - May 8, 2009

Tonya Anne Morse, 48, of Ft. Collins, Colorado, our beloved sister and aunt, died of complications resulting from severe brain trauma on Friday, May 8, 2009 at the Pathways Hospice in Loveland, Colorado. Tonya is survived by her mother, Verlaine Sanford Morse of Cheyenne, Wyoming; four sisters, Terese Morse of Westminster, Colorado, Tara Morse of Westminster, Colorado, Tina Kerin of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Telaina (Andrew) Eriksen of East Lansing, Michigan; two brothers, Tracy (Julia) Morse of Hudson, Michigan, Trent Morse of Waldron, Michigan; three nephews, four nieces, three grand-nephews and two grand-nieces. Her father, Gerald Keith Morse, preceded her in death in 2006.

Tonya was born May 21, 1960 in Adrian, Michigan. She graduated from Morenci High School in 1978 and from Michigan State University, summa cum laude, with dual degrees in criminal justice and psychology in 1982. Shortly after graduating from MSU, Tonya moved to Houston, Texas where she worked as a security guard and then a parole officer. Tonya graduated from the University of Houston Law Center in 1988 and became an attorney. She served as an Assistant Attorney General in Victoria, Texas for the child support enforcement division. Tonya moved to Wyoming in 1997 and worked for several years as an attorney and Director of Family and Child Services for the State of Wyoming. In 2005, Tonya began working as an instructor for the Institute of Business and Medical Careers (IBMC) in Ft. Collins, Colorado and she worked there until her death.

Though she battled chronic illnesses throughout her life, including glaucoma and severe depression, Tonya enjoyed fishing, hiking, camping, her beautiful Sheltie dogs (Sprite and Sam), spending time with family and friends, the music of Bruce Springsteen, the acting of Gale Harold, participating in her favorite Internet communities, travel, plays, science fiction books and movies, and her students and fellow workers at IBMC. Tonya worked throughout her life not only for legal justice but for social justice as well, frequently giving her time, talent and treasure to organizations like Boys Town, Amnesty International, Sheltie Rescue, Locks of Love and her alma mater, Michigan State University. Tonya also frequently worked pro bono for those could not afford an attorney but needed legal help.

A memorial service for Tonya will be held at the Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson, Michigan on August 15, 2009 at 1:00 p.m with Father Richard Eberle officiating. Interment will follow in Sand Creek cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. the day of the service.

Harold C. Weaver, 90, formerly of Hillsdale, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Brookdale Senior Living in Battle Creek, Michigan. He was born December 3, 1918 in Union City, Michigan to Claude & Millie (Lippert) Weaver. He was married to Marguerite Grove and she preceded him in death in 1994.

Harold retired from Dana Corporation and he resided the majority of his life in Hillsdale.

Surviving is a niece, Elsie Page of Battle Creek; two nephews, Dale (Margaret) Perry and Roger Perry, both of Battle Creek; he is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a sister, Gladys Guile.

Graveside funeral services for Harold Weaver will be Monday, May 11, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., at Evergreen cemetery in Girard, Michigan with Pastor Clyde Wonders officiating. There will be no visitation but friends may call anytime Monday morning.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimers Association.

Virginia A. Driskill
July 4, 1922 - April 29, 2009

Virginia A. Driskill, 86, of Hudson passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at her home. She was born July 4, 1922 in Buchanan, Michigan, the daughter of Clarence and Loral (Hicks) Arnold. She married James D. Driskill on January 24, 1945 in Buchanan and he preceded her in death on December 30, 1963.

Virginia was Salutatorian of the class of 1940, where in her Salutatory Address she told her classmates to "challenge their minds". She was co-editor of her nationally recognized high school annual edition, The Pines. She received a scholarship to the University of Michigan and while attending college she left for Spartan Flight School after Pearl Harbor. She trained pilots and logged over 1200 flight hours. She married and raised five children.

Upon her husband's death in 1963, she took over the Bi-County Herald with the assistance of Dorothy Barlett at the shop and Edna Lauder at home. Virginia loved animals especially her wonderful pets Rags and Hobo.

In retirement, Virginia pursued many hobbies such as cross-stitch, knitting, needlepoint, reading, and sewing and her beloved crossword puzzles. She made Christmas stockings for her family and children all over the community using a pattern given to her by Kay Taylor. She loved her church and served and supported the Hudson Public Library and the Hudson Museum. Virginia supported Thorn Hospital Auxiliary by selling knives, attended council meetings, and wrote letters to the editor to share her concerns for the Hudson community. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Surviving Virginia are one son, James (Patricia) Driskill of Hudson; three daughters, Diana (Thomas) Miller of Wadsworth, Ohio, Deborah Speller of Fairhope, Alabama, and Merri Driskill of Hudson. She had ten grandchildren; James (Heidi) Driskill, Jennifer (Joe) Linde, Dr. Todd (Jennifer) Miller, Elizabeth Miller, Tyler (Rebecca) Driskill, Chad (Erin) Speller, Bryan (Jessica) Speller, Joshua (Brenda) Speller, Scott DeLine and Abigail DeLine, and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son and daughter-in-law Todd and Marsha (Peacock) Driskill and one sister, Charlotte and brother-in-law William Weaver.

Funeral services for Virginia will be Saturday May 2, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Hudson with Rev. Fritz Kruse and Rev. Ray Wightman officiating. Interment will follow in Waldron cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson and on Saturday from noon until the time of service at the church.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may make a memorial contributions to Hudson Museum, Hudson Public Library, Hospice of Lenawee, Hudson First United Methodist Church or charity of donor's choice.
