Ila M. Merillat, 87, of Hudson, Michigan passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at her home. She was born on June 28, 1922, in Medina Township, Michigan the daughter of Frank and Edna (Madic) Lumbardo. She married Jacob S. Merillat in Angola, Indiana on February 1, 1940, and he preceded her in death on March 5, 2003.

Ila was a life long Hudson area resident and attended the First Baptist Church in Hudson.

Surviving Ila is one daughter, Nancy (John) Fackler of Hudson, five sons, Larry (Ruth) Merillat of Osseo, Daniel (Diana) Merillat of Prattville, David (Barb) Merillat of Hudson, Robert (Beth) Merillat of Hudson and Edward Merillat of Hudson; one sister, Joan Kruse of Wauseon, Ohio; one brother, Robert Lumbardo of Arizona; 18 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews . She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters, Alice Warren, Doris Lockwood, Betty Ershem, Jeanine Britton and Ruth Snipe, four brothers, Hal, Max, Guy and Val Lumbardo, a sister and brother, Galesworth and Keith Lumbardo in infancy.

Funeral services for Ila will be Saturday, May 29, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson with Rev. Donald Merillat Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove cemetery in Hudson. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may make memorial contributions to Alzheimer’s Association or Great Lakes Hospice.

Larry Loren Bischoff
June 12, 1944 - May 13, 2010

Larry Bischoff, 65, of Morenci passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010, at home. He was born on June 12, 1944, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Loren & Hazel (White) Bischoff. On June 11, 1966, in Hudson he married Donna Meinke and she survives.

Larry was a life long farmer living in the Morenci area since 1961, and had milked cows up until 2003. He then worked at Vreba-Hoff Dairy I & II near Hudson until 2008. Larry loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

Besides his wife, Donna, Larry is survived two sons, David (Dette) Bischoff of Cumberland, Wisconsin, and Walter Bischoff of Morenci; and six grandchildren, Katie, Zack, Christine, Lance, Chelsea and Karlea.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Madalyn Hoffman and Sharon Bischoff.

Funeral service will be on Monday, May 17, 2010, at 11:00 AM at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Pastor Troy Neujahr officiating. Burial will follow at the Palmyra cemetery in Palmyra. There will be a visitation on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Lenawee County.

Elizabeth Anne Glasser
March 8, 1962 - July 13, 2010

Elizabeth Glasser, 48, of Morenci passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at home. She was born on March 8, 1962, in Flint the daughter of Hubert & Anne (Elliott) Erickson. On September 11, 1982, in the Irish Hills she married Donald Glasser and he survives.

Elizabeth has lived in Morenci since 1990, moving from the Irish Hills. She was a graduate of the Clinton High School and furthered her education at Siena Heights where she earned her teaching degree. Elizabeth was a member of Our Lady of Mercy in Fayette, Ohio.

Besides her husband, Don, Elizabeth is survived by a daughter, Anne Glasser; a son, Edward Glasser; and two brothers, Arthur Erickson of Manitou Beach and Phillip Erickson of Okemos.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edward Erickson.

Family and friends can gather to remember Elizabeth at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci on Friday, July 16, 2010, from 4 until 8 PM.

William E. "Bill" Roberts Jr.
September 15, 1936 - May 14, 2010

William E. "Bill" Roberts Jr., 73, of Hillsdale, passed away Friday, May 14, 2010 at the Hillsdale Community Health Center. He was born September 15, 1936 in Lisbon, Ohio to William & Josephine (Matz) Roberts Sr. He was first married to Mary Riley and later married Charis Horvath and she preceded him in death in 1997.

Bill worked at the Anderson's in Maumee, Ohio as a kitchen designer and was also a former bookkeeper and accountant for Holabird in Bryan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the Hillsdale American Legion. Bill enjoyed golfing and spending time on the lake with his family.

Surviving are three children, Linda (Bob) Sandahl of Hillsdale, Mark Roberts of Osseo and Adam (Beth) Roberts of Bryan, Ohio; five grandchildren, Seth, Kolby and Kyle Roberts and Drew and Devin Sandahl.

Funeral services for William E. Roberts Jr. will be Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Rev. Reggie Coleman officiating. Interment will follow at the Richfield cemetery in Henry Co., Ohio. The family will receive friends for visitation Monday from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Victoria Jean Hanawalt
February 19, 1952 - May 13, 2010

Vicky Hanawalt, 58, of Morenci passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010, at the Bixby Medical Center in Adrian. She was born on February 19, 1952, in Hudson the daughter of Frank & Phyllis (Swartzendruber) Woodby. On May 22, 1971, in Morenci she married John Hanawalt and he survives.

Vicky was a life long Morenci area resident and was a member of the Morenci Sportsman Club. She was employed at TRW Automotive in Fayette where she had worked for the past twelve years. Vicky loved the outdoors, camping, gardening, fishing and traveling.

Besides her husband, John, Vicky is survived by two sons, Cody (Lisa) Hanawalt of Buffalo, Wyoming, and Ryan (Angie) Hanawalt of Hudson; six grandchildren, Anthony Hartman, Amanda Hartman, Lindraya Hanawalt, Dawson Hanawalt, Chaise Hanawalt and Cadence Hanawalt; and a niece, Sherry (Steve) Miles.

Vicky was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Frank Woodby Jr.

Funeral service will be on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at 11:00 AM at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Rev. Aden Porter officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove cemetery in Morenci. There will be a visitation on Sunday from 6 until 8 PM and on Monday from 2-4 & 6 until 8 PM.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hanawalt family for a Trust Fund.

Velma Bachman
July 27, 1920 - April 21, 2010

Velma Bachman, 89, formerly of Fayette, passed away Wednesday morning, April 21, 2010, at the Evergreen Manor in Montpelier, where she had been a resident for many years. She was born on July 27, 1920, to Lena L. Bachman, who preceded her in death on April 26, 1984.

Velma has no surviving immediate family members.

Cremation will take place and there will be no public services. Velma’s cremated remains will be interred in the Pleasant View Union cemetery in Fayette.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette.

Terry M. Newell
November 27, 1934 - April 26, 2010

Terry M. Newell, 75, of Hillsdale, passed away Monday, April 26, 2010, at his home, under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Hillsdale Co. He was born November 27, 1934 in Reading to Wade & Naomi (Marsh) Newell. He was married October 15, 1960 to Ilene Spence, and she survives.

Terry was a former employee of Reading Brass and he worked for Sears in Hillsdale and retired from the Sears Store in Jackson. He was a graduate of Reading High School and a graduate of Hillsdale College in 1972. He was a supporter of the Field of Dreams and an avid sports fan, especially baseball. Terry enjoyed watching the Tigers, Lions and the Pistons. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was a Nascar fan and he and Ilene sponsored a child from the Dominican Republic.

Surviving besides his wife Ilene are two daughters, Kimberly (Mikel) Elliott of Hillsdale and Karin (Joseph) Elliott of Osseo; five grandchildren, Andrew & Megan Elliott, Ashley May, Spencer and Shelby McDonough; three brothers, Lester (Margaret) Newell, David (Phyllis) Newell and James (Sandy) Newell, all of Reading.

Funeral services for Terry Newell will be Friday, April 30, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Pastor Samuel Wickard officiating. Interment will follow at the Maplewood cemetery in Reading. The family will receive friends for visitation Thursday from 6-8 and Friday from 10:00 a.m until services at 11:00 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation.

Steven K. Stebelton
December 13, 1955 - May 30, 2010

Steven K. Stebelton, 54, of Hillsdale, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010, at his home. He was born December 13, 1955 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan to Cedric & Ramona (Mayhew) Stebelton, she survives in Hillsdale. He was married January 26, 1983 to Sue Sharp and she survives.

Steve was formerly employed at Dow Chemical in Hillsdale. He was a graduate of Hillsdale High School in 1974 and attended Jackson Community College. Steve was an avid hunter and was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Surviving besides his wife Sue are 3 daughters, Brandy Kesler-Stebelton, Jane Cole and Katie Rearick; 4 sons, Jeremiah (Kala) Stebelton, Timothy Spence, Gabriel Edgar and Jeremy (DeLinda) Lamontaine; 4 brothers, Arthur (Marsha) Stebelton, Cedric Stebelton Jr., John (Cathy) Stebelton and Randy (Paula) Stebelton; 7 grandchildren, Kira Stebelton, Alijah Rearick, Alicen Bradley, Caleb and Matthew Shrontz, Taylor Heckman and Kaleb Anderson. Steven is also survived by 28 adopted children.

At Steve's request, cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial visitation for Steve Stebelton on Thursday, June 3, 2010, from 6-8 p.m., at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
