Eleanor R. McFate
Sherwood - Eleanor R. McFate, age 76 of Sherwood, died Monday, January 19, 2004 at her home following a one year illness.
She was born November 13, 1927 in Moscow, Michigan daughter of Kenneth and Marjorie (Densmore) Keeler and graduated from Jonesville High School in 1945. She married Vernon McFate on July 6, 1959 in Calhoun County.
Eleanor worked at the former Carriage Inn (now Laurels of Coldwater) as housekeeping supervisor for over 15 years retiring in 1989. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bronson and enjoyed reading, crochet, sewing, baking and canning from her vegetable garden.
Surviving are her husband Vernon, sons and daughters-in-law, James and Kathy McFate of Bradenton, FL, David and Joyce McFate of North Adams, MI and son Randy McFate of Union City; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren and two brothers, Russell Keeler of Kalamazoo and Keith Keeler of Moscow, MI.
Funeral Services celebrating the life of Eleanor McFate will be held at 1 PM Thursday, January 22, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Bronson with Pastor John Fields officiating. Arrangements are by the Kolcz Funeral Home. Private interment will take place in Spring Arbor cemetery on Friday.
The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church from 11 AM Thursday until the time of Service at 1 PM.
Memorial Donations may be made to the family to be used toward a grave marker.
Edna E. Rakocy
Bronson - Edna E. Rakocy, age 89, of Coldwater, formerly of Bronson, died Thursday, April 8, 2004 at the Laurels of Coldwater where she had been a resident for the past two years.
She was born January 18, 1915 in Bronson, daughter of George W. and Rose (Wotta) Yesh and was a lifelong Bronson area resident. She married John Rakocy on April 21, 1934 at St. Mary of Assumption Cathoilic Church in Bronson. He died November 4, 1973.
Edna worked at the former Douglas Manufacturing Company (now Douglas Autotech) for a few years in the 1930's. She also worked on the family farm. Then for 12 years, she was head cook at the former West's Fine Foods in Bronson and also catered most of the weddings and other parties in the Bronson area for several years. Edna also cleaned St. Mary's Church and cared for the Altar Linens for many years.In addition to all that, she also did house cleaning and painting. Never one to be idle and always a perfectionist, Edna enjoyed gardening, cooking and cleaning.
She was a member of St. Mary of Assumption Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and the Sacred Heart Society.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Robert Edwards of Coldwater, son Alan Rakocy of Coldwater. sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Rose Rakocy of Colon and Kenneth and Nancy Rakocy of Chandler, Arizona; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters, Virginia Hausman in 1993, Cecilia Signeski in 1995 and baby sister Elizabeth Yesh at the age of two weeks.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM Monday, April 12, 2004 at St. Mary of Assumption Catholic Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Richard A. Fritz officiating. Prayers before Mass will be at 10:30 AM Monday at the Kolcz Funeral Home. Interment will follow in St. Mary cemetery.
The family will receive friends at thje Kolcz Funeral Home from 5 - 8 PM Sunday where the Rosary will be recited at 6 PM Sunday. Memorial Donations may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church.
Rose W. Kirkum
Bronson - Rose E. Kirkum, age 84, of Bronson, died Thursday, April 8, 2004 at the Laurels of Coldwater.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM Monday, April 12, 2004 at the Bronson cemetery. There will be no prior visitation. Arrangements are by the Kolcz Funeral Home of Bronson.
Alvin R. Kelley
Bronson - Alvin R. Kelley, age 69, of Bronson, died early Tuesday morning, April 6, 2004 at the Sturgis Hospital Emergency Room shortly after his arrival. He had been in failing health for the past five years.
He was born January 3, 1935 in Sturgis, Son of George and Clara (Yesh) Kelley and was a lifelong Bronson area resident. Alvin graduated from Bronson High School in 1952 and had attended Trade School in Battle Creek to become a tool & die maker. He completed his education at Glen Oaks Community College.
First working at Sturgis Tool & Die, then at the former Kenward Gage Engineering in Bronson, Alvin the worked 22 years of seniority at the former Douglas Corporation (now Douglas Autotech) in Bronson where he was Foreman of the Tool Room. He retired in 1998.
Alvin had also served as a Volunteer Fireman with the Bronson Rural Fire Association for 47 years and had served as Assistant Fire Chief for 27 of those years. He was a well liked and excellent Assistant Chief who used common sense and always cared for his men.
Alvin was a member of St. Mary of Assumption Catholic Church in Bronson where he had served on the Parish Council and the School Board. he was an active member of the UCT in Coldwater and had gone "through the chairs" to become Senior Counselor. He also coached Little League baseball for about 10 years. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping. wood working, his snow mobiles and gardening.
On July 3, 1954, he married Gwendolyn Davenport at St. Mary's Catholic Church. She survives along with two daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Ron Hoffer and Renee and Anthony Martinez all of Bronson; his son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Millie Kelley of Union City; son Tim Kelley of Bronson, six Grandchildren; his sister Florentine "Toots" Czajkowski of Bronson and his brother and sister-in-law Jim and Karen Kelley of Silver City, Michigan.
Because of Holy Week, The Funeral Mass will be held at 6 PM Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at St. Mary of Assumption Catholic Church in Bronson,. Interment will follow in St. Mary cemetery.
Visiting hours at the Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson are from 6 - 8 PM Tuesday with the Rosary at 7 PM and also from 1 PM to 5:30 PM Wednesday when he will be moved to St. Mary's Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 6 PM. Memorials to the Bronson Rural Fire Association.

William W. Randolph, age 84, of Hudson, Michigan passed away Monday, April 14, 2008, at his home. He was born June 26, 1923 in Milan, Michigan to David and Turcy M. (Smith) Randolph. He was married to Mary Jean Underwood for 34 years. They were married on November 14, 1947 in Tecumseh, Michigan and she survives.
Bill was a life long self employed contractor, former owner of Frosty Freeze in Hudson for 10 years, also known as "Tiger Town", and was previously employed at Tecumseh Products for 15 years. He was a member of Pittsford Liberty Bible Church, Hudson American Legion Hannan Colvin Post #180 and was a amphibian tractor driver in the US Army during WW II in the Philippines. He received several medals, ribbons and battle stars for fighting in the Battles of New Guinea, Bismark Archipelago and Luzon. He enjoyed traveling up north, vacationing in Florida, fishing, family gatherings and dearly loved his children and grandchildren.
Surviving Bill is special companion of 29 years, Barb Kirkman of Hudson; four children, Nancy Barnhart of Hudson, Jerry (Dolores) Randolph of Hudson, Brenda (Edwin) Muck of Port Charlotte, Florida and Bonnie (Frank) Rodesiler of Waldron; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two brothers, Clarence (Wilma) Randolph of Tecumseh and Edward (Pat) Randolph of Florida; step-daughter, Joan (Jeff) Bowman of Adrian and two step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Dorothy and Mabel, three brothers, Lester, Levi and Jesse and step-mother, Salome.
Funeral services for Bill Randolph will be Friday, April 18, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Pittsford Liberty Bible Church with Dr. Rev. Samuel Wickard officiating. Military interment will follow at Maple Grove cemetery in Hudson. Visitation will be Wednesday and Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Lenawee County, Pittsford Liberty Bible Church or the American Cancer Society.
Karen F. Bogucki
Bronson - Karen F. Bogucki, age 41 of Bronson, died Thursday,. March 25, 2004 at the Battle Creek Health System. She had been in failing health.
Born July 27, 1962 in Coldwater, the daughter of Frank & Mary Jeanne (Hogmire) Bogucki, Karen was a lifelong Bronson resident. She graduated from Bronson High School in 1980 and had worked as a cashier at the Fremont, Indiana Truck Stop and most recently at the Te-Kon Truck Plaza. Prior to that, she had worked at the Crotty Corporation in Quincy.
Karen enjoyed reading, NASCAR Races and her computer. She also had a collection of interesting business cards.
Surviving are her daughter Melanie Bogucki, her parents, Frank & Mary Jeanne Bogucki, her brother James Boguckiall of Bronson, a sister and brother-in-law, JoAnne and Wayne Aldrich of Coldwater, a nephew Lonnie Bogucki and nieces, Amy Bogucki and Angie Aldrich along with several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by a sister Sherilyn Bogucki.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Monday,. March 29, 2004 at the Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson with Rev. Mona Joslyn of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
The family will receive friends at the Kolcz Funeral Home from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 PM Sunday where Memorial Donations may be made to the East Side Animal Shelter in Detroit.
Irene C. Sikorski
Bronson - Irene C. Sikorski, age 97, formerly of Bronson, died Friday afternoon, March 12, 2004 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater where she had been a resident for the past nine years.
Irene was born February 20, 1907 in Detroit, daughter of Albert and Mary (Bonq) Kowalski. She worked as a switchboard operator for the telephone company until her marriage on October 27, 1925 to John Sikorski at ST. Francis Catholic Church in Detroit. John died September 12, 1964.
The couple owned and operated a grocery store in Detroit until 1938 when they moved to Bronson and John joined his family in farming. Although Irene was from Detroit, she quickly adjusted to rural living and enjoyed being a farm wife.
She liked to can fresh fruits and vegetables, enjoyed reading and was an excellent baker, especially well known for her home made cookies. She was a member of St. Mary of Assumption Catholic Church in Bronson.
Surviving are her daughter, Rosemarie Adamski of Bronson and a granddaughter, Kathleen Adamski also of Bronson. She was preceded in death by a sister Genevieve Tremlett and two brothers, George Kowalski and Harry Kowalski.
Funeral Mass will be held at 12 Noon, Monday, March 15, 2004 at St. Mary of Assumption Catholic Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Richard A Fritz officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary cemetery.

Mary Tillotson
Bronson - Mary Tillotson, age 96, of Bronson, died Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater.
Mary was born September 28, 1907 in Bronson, daughter of Stanley and Margaret (Wesolek) Bohacz and was a lifelong Bronson resident. She married Kenneth Tillotson on May 29, 1943 at St. Mary of Assumption Catholic Church in Bronson. Ken died May , 1980.
She retired in 1972 after 26 years with the former Kirsch Company in Sturgis. Mary was a member of St. Mary of Assumption Catholic Church and the Sacred Heart Society. She enjoyed reading, cooking, loved her family and grew beautiful roses in her flower garden.
Surviving are her son Terry Tillotson of Bronson, a brother and sister-in-law Marion and Veronica Bohacz of Bronson and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers, Joseph Bohacz, Walter Bohacz, Tony Bohacz and Leonard Bohacz and four sisters, Pearl Haciak, Rose Tillotson, Frances Kostielny and Florence Dailey.

Lola Marie Metzger
Bronson - Lola Marie Metzger, age 90, of Bronson, died Tuesday evening, June 1, 2004 at her home following a short illness.
She was born April 18, 1914 in Noble Twp., Branch County, Michigan daughter of Orrin and Lydia (Kreider) Good and was a lifelong Bronson area resident. She married Walter K. Metzger on June 21, 1935 in Noble Twp..
Lola graduated from Bronson High School in 1930. After a year of post graduate work at Bronson, she attended County Normal at Coldwater and graduated in 1932. She taught in country school near her home for four years. After a 25 year break to raise her 12 children, Lola resumed teaching. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Western Michigan University in 1967 at the age of 53.
Lola was an active member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. She was an avid reader and a columnist for the Bronson Journal. In 1955, the Bronson Journal awarded her as Mother of the Year.
Surviving are her husband Walter, and 12 children: Gail (Mary) Metzger, Marilyn Metzger, Esther Rinehart all of Bronson; Doris (Eugene) Miller, Wanda (Robert) DeBolt, Paul (Marsha) Metzger all of Coldwater; Allen (Roberta) Metzger of Hudson, IN; Melva Nichols of Elkhart, IN; Shirley (Curtis) Harris of Bellvue, MI; Vera (Ed) Hanley of New Gaililee, PA; Marshall (Betty) Metzger of Ottawa, OH and Dwight (Debra) Metzger of Lakeview, OH - - 38 Grandchildren; 29 Great Grandchildren and numerous Step Grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister Ruth Good; two daughters-in-law and a son-in-law.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, June 5, 2004 at the Pleasant Hill Missionary Church located five miles south of Bronson on Pleasant Hill Road.
Visitation will be held from 5 - 8 PM Friday at the Family Life Center of Pleasant Hill Church and also on Saturday from 10 AM to the time of service. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
Memorial Donations may be made to the Family Life Center of Pleasant Hill Church or to Gideons International. Arrangements are by the Kolcz Funeral Home.

William G. Dailey, 76, of Hillsdale, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2008, at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility. He was born August 18, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to George & Mary (Potts) Dailey.
Bill retired from St. Anthony Church. He was the custodian at St. Anthony's for several years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict and was also a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Survivors include four sisters, Rosemary Dailey, Hillsdale, Evelyn (Jim) Newell, Jonesville, Eleanor Sambaer, Lansing and Marjorie Bruce, Sacramento, CA.; two brothers, Edward (Caroline) Dailey, Hillsdale and John Dailey, Lansing; brother-in-law, Loren Kesselring, Jonesville. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Genevieve and Kathleen.
A mass of Christian burial for Bill Dailey will be Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hillsdale with Fr. Ioane Sigarara as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Anthony cemetery. There will be a prayer vigil service Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m., at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Arrangements are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
