Patrick H. Reuter, age 54, of Hudson passed away Sunday, August 29, 2004, at Marquette General Hospital from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born June 21, 1950, in Hudson, Michigan to Henry and Janice (Schad) Reuter. Henry survives and resides in Jackson, and Jan preceded him in death on July 16, 2002. She is sadly missed by her family and the community as well.

The Henry Reuter family lived on a small farm on Day Road, just outside of Hudson with their two children, Pat and Shawn. Jan owned and operated a small antique shop at that location, where she bought, restored and sold antiques. Her strong interest in historical preservation gave Pat his foundation in the community.

Pat was a life long Hudson area resident and graduate of Hudson area schools in 1968. He went to Northwood Institute to major in Automotive Marketing. His goal was to continue family tradition and establish himself in the family business started in 1944, by his grandfather, Carl Reuter. This business, C.R. Motor Sales, is a successful new and used car facility located outside the City of Hudson in Hillsdale County. During his early years of employment, Pat attained Master Mechanic status. He went on to assume the sales and management role in 1987, when his father Henry retired.

Pat married Chresteen (Bramer) Reuter on January 15, 1972, in Traverse City, Michigan and she survives. Their marriage brought forth three wonderful sons, Jamie of Annapolis, Maryland, Jon (Elizabeth) of Cleveland, Ohio and Jacob of Arden, North Carolina. Also surviving are one sister, Shawn (Larry) McWhirter, one niece, Heidi (Tim) Boone and several extended family members.

Pat was not only devoted to his wife, family and friends, but to the Catholic faith, his community and the many organizations that existed to support them. He gave of himself unselfishly to promote growth and prosperity in the Hudson area. Pat was an active member in such organizations as: Hudson Jaycees, Hudson Kiwanis, Knights of Columbus, Hudson K. of C. Building Corporation, Sacred Heart Finance Commission, Calvary cemetery, Fair Board, Sons of American Legion and Hudson Thanksgiving Club. Pat was an avid fisherman and hunter; sponsoring various county chapters of Pheasants Forever, Wild Turkey Federation, Whitetail Unlimited, Ducks Unlimited and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Pat had an extensive collection of fine art, guns, antiques and motorcycles. He had a flair for finding the most unusual items with the aid of the internet and Ebay. He has managed to accumulate items of interest from all parts of the world.

Pat traveled extensively for business and pleasure as well as, to hunt and fish. His love for the outdoors landed him in the Northwest Territories of Canada. In 1998, with three good friends, he founded the Alymer Lake Lodge in Rocknest Bay. The lodge is located 110 miles south of the Artic Circle. The lake itself, is 60 miles long and offers fabulous trout fishing and caribou hunting.

Pat's final wishes were carried out at Marquette General Hospital on Sunday, August 29. He became an organ and tissue donor, and will continue living through many organ recipients for years to come.

A Memorial Mass for Pat Reuter will be Saturday, September 4, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Rick Eberle and Fr.H. Paul Ruddy as celebrants. Private interment will be at Calvary cemetery in Hudson. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson, and 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with at Vigil Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m.
