Ruth I. Plum, age 82, of Hudson, Michigan, passed away Friday, March 18, 2005 at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility. She was born on July 13, 1922 in Hillsdale County to Roy and Sena (Carpenter) Haynes.

Ruth graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1940, was a member of the Prattville Community Church, and the Gingham Girls.

On August 10, 1940 she married Glenn Plum who preceded her in death in 1965. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Arlene Greenfield, and a brother, LaVern Haynes.

Ruth is survived by a daughter, Carol Plum of Hudson; three sons, Thomas Plum of Osseo, Charles Plum and Richard (Chris) Plum both of Waldron; one brother, Donald Haynes of Litchfield; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchidren.

Funeral services for Ruth Plum will be Monday, March 21, 2005 at 1:30 p.m at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with the Rev. Clyde Wonders officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Grove cemetery in Hillsdale. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 20, 2005 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rena (Jewell) Dart
July 18, 1911 - March 18, 2005

Location: Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson

Service: Monday, March 21, 2005 @ 11:00 a.m.

Rena Dart, age 93, of Hudson passed away Friday, March 18, 2005, at Lynwood Manor in Adrian, Michigan. She was born July 18, 1911 in Morenci, Michigan to Jay and Mabel (Bates) Goodremont. She married Lionel Jewell on July 18, 1930 and he preceded her in death on February 26, 1972. She then
married Chet Dart on January 12, 1985, and he survives.

Rena was employed at De Mor Hills Golf Restaurant and Village Inn Restaurant of Morenci. She graduated from Morenci High School Class of 1928, was a member of Clayton Bible Church and South Hudson Women's Club.

Surviving Rena besides her husband, Chet, of Hudson are two step-sons, Don (Joanne) Dart of Batavia, New York and Dean Dart of Manitou Beach, Michigan; five grandchildren, Brenda Ritter of Morenci, Michigan, Tim (Tammy) Jewell of Hudson, Jackie (Gailyn) Flickenger of Waldron, Troy (Kim) Jewell of Declaration, Wyoming and Tina Jewell of Waldron, Michigan; one sister, Doris Peever of Chiloqin, Oregon; ten great grandchildren; two great
great granchildren; five step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren and one daughter in-law, Linda Dehrinder of Sheridan, Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, step mother, Hila Goodremont; two sons, Lionel Jack Jewell and David Jewell; three sisters, Mildred Wirick, Avis Pennington and Shirley Evers; one grandson, Terry Jewell and daughter-in-law Janis Jewell.

Funeral services for Rena will be Monday, March 21, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson with Pastor Keith Corbin officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove cemetery in Morenci, Michigan. Visitation will be Sunday, March 20, 2005 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may make memorial contributions to Daybreak Adult Day Services in Adrian.

Nettie Jane Bondsteel
September 24, 1937 - March 26, 2005

Nettie Jane Bondsteel, age 67, of Hillsdale, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2005, in Reading. She was born September 24, 1937 in Hillsdale to Ira "Pete" & Florence (Cyphers) Bondsteel.

Nettie was a former employee of Mark I Plastics in Jonesville and attended the Reading Church of the Nazarene where she played piano, lead congregational singings and performed solo's.

She is survived by a special friend where she made her home, Kathy Durling of Reading. Also surviving are nieces, Debra Champion of Grand Rapids and Beverly (Daniel) Gottschalk of Lewisburg, Tennessee; nephews, Rick Bondsteel of Allen and Harold (Tamara) Bondsteel of Litchfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Kenneth.

Funeral services for Nettie Bondsteel will be Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Pastor David Tran officiating. Interment will follow at the Allen cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until services at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mabel I. Marshall
June 9, 1912 - March 22, 2005

Mabel I. Marshall, 92, of Whitney Ave., Morenci passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at Heartland of Wauseon in Wauseon, Ohio. She was born on June 9, 1912 in Archbold, Ohio the daughter of William & Minni (Merillat) Elarton.

She married Gene E. Shields on November 26, 1936 and he preceded her in death on December 5, 1952. On February 26, 1964, in Morenci, Mabel married William S. Marshall and preceded her in death on June 3, 1971.

Mabel was a homemaker living all of her life in the Morenci area.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Whit) Hames of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Carol Shields of Northville, Michigan; two sons, Doug (Sharon) Shields of Morenci and Roger (Pam) Shields of Tallahassee, Florida; one granddaughter, nine grandsons and sixteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one sister, Florence Fletcher and two brothers, Glen and Earl Elarton.

Funeral services for Mabel will be at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci on Friday, March 25, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bruce Jewett officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove cemetery in Morenci. There will be a visitation on Thursday, March 24, 2005 from 6-8 p.m.

Larry R. Cutler
December 25, 1938 - March 29, 2005

Larry Cutler, age 66, of Canandaigua Road, Clayton passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at Bixby Medical Center in Adrian, Michigan. He was born on December 25, 1938 in Ann Arbor the son of Andrew & Margaret (Fry) Cutler. On June 8, 1957, in Morenci he married Arlene Call and she survives.

Larry was employed at Fisher Body in Tecumseh and then at General Motors Power Train in Toledo from where he retired in 1997 after 30 years of service. He was a graduate of the Morenci High School Class of 1957. He was a member of the Canandaigua Community Church, a member of the Morenci Eagles and a past member of the Irish Hills Antique Car Club.

Besides his wife, Arlene, Larry is survived by a daughter, Cheryl (Kurt) Kornhaus of Sarasota, Florida; four sons, Michael Cutler of Clayton, Mark Cutler of Escondido, California, Neal (Candice) Cutler of Clayton, North Carolina, and Shawn (Crystal) Cutler of Morenci; eight grandchildren, Jayson, Justin, Collin Kornhaus, Michael (Holli), Nicole, Andrew, Christopher, and Kyle Cutler; one great granddaughter, Mackenzie Cutler; two sisters, Ruth (Richard) Sampson of Pioneer, Ohio and Betty Frederick of Sand Creek; one brother, Gerald (Rose) Byrnes of Royal Oak; one sister-in-law, Cheryl Cowgill of Morenci; one-brother-in law, Arthur Call of Lyons, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Alma Myers; and two brothers, Richard and Gerald Reynolds.

Funeral service will be on Friday, April 1, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Rev. Max Munk officiating.
Burial will follow at the Canandaigua cemetery in Canandaigua. There will be a visitation on Thursday, March 31, 2005 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Morenci EMS or Canandaigua Community Church.

Jimmie L. Teneyck
February 8, 1938 - February 27, 2005

Jimmie L. Teneyck, age 67, of Spring Hill, Florida and formerly of Hillsdale, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2005 at the Hillsdale Community Health Center. He was born February 8, 1938, in Osseo, MI to Harold & Hartis (Smith) Teneyck and she survives in Osseo. On November 14, 1964 he married Charlotte Mundwiler and she survives.

Jimmie was a former truck driver and he and Charlotte have spent the past 10 winters in Spring Hill, Florida and the summers in Hillsdale.

Along with his wife Charlotte and his mother, Hartis, Jimmie is survived by a daughter, Tonja (Larry) Wolff of Spring Hill, FL; three sons, William "Bill" Teneyck of Alabama, Tracy (Dawn) Teneyck and Tyson (Angela) Teneyck, both of Hillsdale; grandchildren, Tyler, Brandon, Cory and Collin Teneyck, Tressa & Tory Teneyck, Trevor Wolff, and Tanner & Ty Teneyck; a sister, Joann Dilyard of Fremont, IN; two brothers, Jerry (Carmen) Teneyck of Montana, and Jack (Ann) Teneyck of Hillsdale.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his father, Harold.

There will be no visitation, calling hours or services at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to the family of Jimmie Teneyck.

Irene L. Figgins
January 7, 1929 - March 4, 2005

Irene L. Figgins, age 76, of Fayette, passed away Friday, March 4, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee, Ohio. She was born January 7, 1929 in Morenci, Michigan to Walter & Caroline (Burkholder) Kutzley. She was married to Douglas Lichtenwald and he preceded her in death in 1971. She married Walter Grau in 1976. He preceded her in death in 1990. She later married Edward Figgins in Anchorage, Alaska on July 6, 1993, and he survives.

Irene was formerly employed at Fayette Tubular Products and retired from Sheridan in Wauseon. She attended the Fayette United Methodist Church and was a member of the Fire Bells and the Fayette Boosters.

Surviving besides her husband, Ed, are daughters, Kathy (Bill) Amos, Karen (Curtis) Bentley and Vicki Lichtenwald (Mark Farnham), all of Fayette; sons, Allan (Ella) Lichtenwald, David (Rebecca) Lichtenwald and Ronald (Melody) Lichtenwald, all of Fayette; step son, Mike (Daun) Figgins of Fayette; step daughters, Cynthia, Beverly, and Barbara Figgins, all of Fayette; 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Davis and Bernita Schmidt, both of Morenci; brother, Victor Kutzley of West Palm Beach, Florida; brother Howard (deceased), sister-in-law, Marlyn Kutzley of Morenci.

Funeral services for Irene Figgins will be Monday at 2:30 p.m., at the Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette with Pastor Jim Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Pleasant View Union cemetery in Fayette. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6-8 pm and Sunday from 2-7 pm, at the funeral home.

Harold Smith
January 16, 1920 - March 7, 2005

Location: St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hillsdale
Visitation: Wednesday, March 9, 2005 from 2-4 p.m., with a prayer vigil service at 6:00 p.m. with visitation until 8:00 p.m., at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale
Service: Thursday, March 10, 2005 at 11:00 a.m.
cemetery: St. Anthony cemetery in Hillsdale

Harold Smith, age 85, of Hillsdale, passed away Monday, March 7, 2005 at the "Mac" McGuire Skilled Nursing Facility in Hillsdale. He was born on January 16, 1920 in Hillsdale to William and Elsie (Lockwood) Smith.

Harold retired from the United States Postal Service in 1977, after 32 years of service. He graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1937, and Hillsdale College in 1943. He served in the Navy during World War II, was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church, the Hillsdale Elks Lodge No. 1575, the American Legion Leighr A. Wright Post No. 53, and the ATO Fraternity at Hillsdale College.

On April 16, 1945 he married Onolee Dwyer who survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Jill Smith of Hillsdale; two sons, William "Bill" Smith and Scott (Misty) Smith both of Hillsdale; nine grandchildren, Bill, Jon, Ashley, Abbey, Austin, Blake, and Grant Smith, David Sword, and Jennifer Fish; one great- grandchild, Austin Whitney.

Harold was preceded in death by his daughter, Sally Smith on Oct. 22, 2004, parents, three brothers and one sister.

A Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hillsdale with Fr. Thomas Butler as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Anthony cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and a prayer vigil service will be at 6:00 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Anthony Catholic Church or the McGuire Skilled Nursing Facility.

Herbert Walker Pierpoint
April 21, 1911 - March 21, 2005

Herbert Walker Pierpoint, age 93, of Jonesville, passed away, Monday, March 21, 2005, at the Mac McGuire Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born April 21, 1911 in Baltimore, Maryland to Herbert & Melva (Walker) Pierpoint. On June 3, 1934 he married Mary Hillsinger and she preceded him in death in 2003.

Walker was employed by DCA for many years, was a member of the Jonesville United Methodist Church, and was an avid bowler.

Walker is survived by his sister, Rose Buppert, loving nieces and nephews, friends, and the staff of Drews Spring Place.

Walker is preceded in death by his wife, Mary, a daughter, Joan M. Pierpoint on Feb. 7, 2005; and 2 brothers, James Charles and William Edward.

The funeral service for Herbert Walker Pierpoint will be Thursday, March 24, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in Jonesville, with Pastor Craig Pahl officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset View cemetery in Jonesville. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 24, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to make donations to the Jonesville United Methodist Church.
