SIMS, CHARLES C., A resident of Detroit s West Side for more than 80 years, departed this life on Tuesday, April 11, 2000. He served in the U.S. Army for 4 years as a commissioned officer eventually promoted from the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Lieutenant, to Captain. A graduate of the University of Detroit with a Bachelors and Masters Degree in science. He taught science and math for many years in the Detroit Public School System at the Harris School. His last years of Tenure with the Detroit Board was in an administrative capacity (Staff Coordinator) at the Foster School and the Carlyle Stewart School where he retired in 1981. He was also a math instructor at Wayne County Community College for more than 25 years. He was a member of KAPPA ALPHA PSI Fraternity and a life member of the NAACP. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Bess, son Gregory, granddaughter Lisa, brother William, goddaughter Lynnette Horn Blocker, a special daughter Dorothy Sims Johns and a multitude of friends. Services will be held at Gesu Catholic Church, 17204 Oak Drive at 6 Mile Rd. on Saturday, April 15, 2000. Family Hour 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Viewing and visitation at Thompson s Funeral Home, Greenfield Chapel, Friday, April 14, 2000, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Memorial tributes may be sent to United Negro College Fund or Brighter Future For Education Scholarship Fund of New Light Baptist Church, 5240 W. BRABOY, OLLIE J. "GEORGE" "CHIEF" 79, of Utica, died Tuesday, April 10 at St. Joseph Mercy West Hospital, Clinton Twp. He was born March 5, 1922 in Calvert City, KY. Mr. Braboy retired in 1994 as a pipefitter from Ford Motor Co. He served in the U.S Marine Corps during WWII. Relatives said he was a lover of life, a hard worker, an avid handyman and world traveler who especially enjoyed Las Vegas. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes and dancing to country music. Relatives describe Mr. Braboy as a devoted husband, father & grandfather who was one of a kind with his sense of humor, strength & courage. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; sons, Robert (Callie) Braboy of FL, Theodore (Lisa) Braboy of Canton, Patrick (Cheryl) Braboy of IL, Norman Braboy of Mt.
