He played AYSO and Force soccer and earned his deputy black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He graduated in 2004 from Plainwell High School where he was a captain on the varsity football team and competed as a high jumper in track and field. David graduated early from the University of Michigan in January 2007, majoring in sociology with a minor in Asian studies.
While maintaining a rigorous academic schedule, Dave enthusiastically celebrated football Saturdays with his many friends, and he was an avid intra-mural sports participant.
In February 2008, he chose to join the U.S. Army, seeking new challenges. Dave completed basic combat training and graduated as a distinguished military graduate of the Army Officers Candidate School at Fort Benning, Ga. He had a huge collection of good friends from his youth in Plainwell, his college days in Ann Arbor and from his military training experiences.
Dave was friendly, personable, empathetic to others, and easy going. His sudden death brings shock and sadness, for he had so much to contribute to our world. As friend, son, grandson, and brother, Dave will be greatly missed.
His family trusts that he is resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus. "He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" Micah 6:8.
