SCHUHOLZ, ROLAND KARL Ann Arbor, MI. Age 95, died Tuesday, January 25, 2000 at the University of Michigan Medical Center. He was confirmed at St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Indian Village, Detroit and was a very active member there for most of his life; in recent years he was a member at Historic Trinity Lutheran Church, Detroit. Mr. Schuholz travelled all the continents of the world during his lifetime, including extensive study of European architecture, many trips under the leadership of Reinhardt Whittke Professor Emeritus at Eastern Michigan University, and several round-the world freighter trips. Mr. Schuholz is a graduate of the University of Michigan College of Architecture and Urban planning and Wayne State University, as well as holding a Masters degree from the Graduate School of Design, Department of Architecture at Harvard University. He is a member of the University of Michigan s President s Club and The Woodward Society at the Detroit Medical Center, Wayne State University. Mr. Schuholz made a career of teaching, spending two years at Clemson University and 38 years at Cass Technical High in Detroit where his expertise was focused on teaching perspective drawing, art history, and providing faculty direction for the TRIANGLE. The priceless gift he gave to his students was his ability to teach them to discover their own hidden potential and to bring their special talents to fruition. He taught them to see the absolute "beauty" in those hallways and stairways at Cass and in the simple yet elegant lines of a plain white pitcher. He taught them discipline and pride in their craft. He was a hard taskmaster, highly respected and admired by his students and colleagues alike. He made a significant and lasting impact on two generations of students at Cass as well as the area of art education and the art community of Detroit. That is teaching at its highest level. He will be sorely missed. He is survived by his beloved lifelong friend Josephine D. Campbell of Temple, TX, her daughter the Rev. Jacqueline A. Campbell of Houston, TX, and his godson R. Jay Campbell, Jr. of Dallas, TX. Also surviving are cousins: Madeline Bastian, Ypsilanti, MI, Donald Staebler, Ann Arbor, MI, Helen Staebler Kranish, Merced, CA, Ruth (and Walter) Staebler Hileman, Tucson, AZ, Stella Jo Staebler, Centralia, WA, special friends: the Severance s, Lucille, Mary (Zninsky), Eric and Hugh; Anjanette Stoltz, Rebecka Andress, Clara and Randy Blackard, "Millie and Mr. Millie", Margie Enforth, Mary Metzger, Jack Ragels, Bill Cline, Harold and June Wark, Emily Scott, many travelling companions and other friends too numerous to list. STONE, BENJAMIN J., M.D. East Lansing, Michigan. Benjamin Jennings Stone, Jr. was born October 20, 1918 in Auburn Hills, Michigan the son of Benjamin Jennings Stone, Sr. and Anna Mae Kerr Stone. He died January 24, 2000 in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Stone was a World War II veteran and a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. He flew over 50 bomber missions in the European and North African theaters as a bomber pilot, becoming a command pilot. Dr. Stone completed his undergraduate work at Michigan State University in 1938, received his MD from the University of Michigan in 1951 returning in 1966 to complete his fellowship in allergy and immunology. Dr. Stone practiced pediatrics for 12 years and allergy for 25 all in the greater Lansing area. He was a member of the Michigan State Medical Society, the Ingham County Medical Society, the Academy of Pediatrics and past President of The Michigan Allergy and Asthma Society. Dr. Stone retired from active practice in 1994 to spend more time with his family and to pursue his love of Fly-fishing. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Merle. His children, Nancy Stone of Senatobia, Mississippi, B.J. Stone III of Vienna, Virginia and Sally Stone Holmes of Atlanta, Georgia. His grandchildren, Nick, Benjamin IV, and Iris Stone and Sarah Holmes. A sister Mrs. Norman Brockman of Sterling Heights, MI. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday February 1st at The Peoples Church, 200 West Grand River Ave., East Lansing, Michigan.
