GRANT, ROBERT "BOB", 79, a retired special agent for the Treasury Department, died Saturday, January 27, 2001 at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital. Visitation 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park. Mr. Grant was a founding member of the St. Therese Parish and recently became a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. A native of Detroit, MI, Mr. Grant was a resident of Jackson for 40 years. He served with the 49th Infantry Division during World War II, receiving the Bronze Medal and Purple Heart. He graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Masters degree in business. Mr. Grant was a retired special agent of the Treasury Department at the Greenville and Jackson offices. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Grant was a past member and state commander of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Grant was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Ruth Horan of Water Valley; his parents, Anna Courville and Ward Andrus Grant; and his sister, Mary Edith Braun. Survivors include: son, Robert E. Grant of Joshua, Texas; daughter, Sister Barbara Grant RSM of St. Louis; sisters, Ruth LeValley of Detroit and Jane Goeke and brother-in-law, Ralph Goeke of Garden Grove, CA; brother-in-law Frank Braun of Spring Hill, Tenn; and several nieces and nephews. KNOERTZER, MILDRED GENEVIEVE of Ann Arbor. Age 97, died Sunday, January 28, 2001 at Bortz Medical Center in Ypsilanti as a result of Alzheimer s Disease. Born on February 22, 1903 in Oil City, PA, the daughter of Gideon and Margaret Fry. A former 30 year resident of the Detroit suburbs, she moved to Ann Arbor in 1974 for summers, while wintering in Largo, FL. She married Wilmer Eldon Knoertzer, June 25, 1931. He precedes her in death. She was a homemaker and a part-time model. From 1959-1974 she was credit manager for Berry Door Sales. Surviving is her daughter, Joan of Ann Arbor, and nephews, William and Robert Fry of Battle Ground, WA. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. McKENZIE, ROBERT STEWART 74 of Harbor Springs died Jan. 27, 2001 at his residence. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday Jan. 31, 2001 at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey. Rev. Thomas Cook will officiate and burial will be in Lakeview cemetery in Harbor Springs. Robert was born May 22, 1926 in Roselle Park, New Jersey the son of Robert and Margaret (Macintosh) McKenzie. As a young boy Robert moved with his family to Mount Clemens, Mich where he grew up and attended school and graduated from Mount Clemens High School in 1944. After high school Robert served in the Army Air Corp. From 1944 to 1945. After the service Robert attended and graduated from Wayne State University in 1950. He then attended Wayne State Law School and graduated in 1953. On Nov. 15, 1957 he married the former Sally Chadwick in Mt. Clemens. Robert served at the chief Trial Attorney for the Macomb County Prosecutors Office and then became a partner in the firm Daner, Freeman, McKenzie until 1996 when he retired. He was a Defense Litigator most of his legal career. Robert was a member of Board of Commissions for the State Bar of Michigan for 17 years. Member of the State Bar, The Fellows of State Bar, Fellows of ABA, Member of Board of Directors of the Macomb Bar from 1958-1961 and 1964-1967, American Trial Lawyers Assc., President of Mt. Clemens Symphony Orchestra, Past President Presbyterian Church Choir, Legal Advisor for Northern Mich. National Ski Patrol, senior patroller with National Ski Patrol from 1972-1978. He was also the recipient of the Roberts P. Hudson Award the highest award given by the State Bar of Mich. Robert is survived by his wife: Sally, 2 daughters: Andra McKenzie of Alanson, Dena Sydow and husband Rob of Harbor Springs. 1 grandson Max Randall Sydow. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Marlee Sydow.
