McKINNEY, ALICE N., of Inkster. Born Feb. 18, 1908 in Belzoni, Mississippi. Died May 19, 1998 at the Oakwood General Hospital in Dearborn. She was the beloved mother of Brenda Sage and son-in-law, Alexander Sage. The remains can be viewed at Penn Funeral Home, 3015 S. Inkster Rd., Inkster, on May 25 betw. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. The funeral will be held at Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, 5651 Middlebelt Rd., Westland, on Tuesday, May 26 at 11 a.m. Family hour at 10:30.

MONTGOMERY, ROSE (nee TIGGETT) June 27, 1919 - May 19, 1998. She graduated from Detroit Commerce High School in 1938, an accomplishment that made her family very proud. On June 27, 1939 Rose and Wardell Montgomery were married. Hers was a lifetime of commitment and service. She was an active member of Plymouth United Church of Christ, the NAACP, its Youth League and its Membership Drive of the PTA, The Marston Street Block Club, The Sewing Club, The Missionary Family Affair, The Paramount Bridge Club for over 40 years. She was a competent secretary for the family plumbing business, a loving wife and mother and such a great cook. Many a day was brightened by a box of her cookies or meals she prepared. Mrs. Montgomery leaves to cherish her memory her husband of nearly 59 years, Wardell Montgomery Sr., 3 sons, 2 daughter in-laws, Wardell Jr., Dwayne Sr (Jeanette), Marvin, aka Brother A-Kweli-Damu, (Norma J.) aka Sr. Bahati-Damu, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 3 Godchildren, and her best friend, since they were 7 years old, Mrs. Alma Derrick. Mrs Montgomery was a Christian lady, she believed in God and Garveysim. Hers was an unselfish life, full of love and caring.

BURNS JAMES E. JR., Irish eyes surely were smiling down on Jim Burns as he passed away on May 18 at his home. He was born June 11, 1916. He had suffered from multiple myeloma and renal failure. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Margaret; daughters Pat Wellhausen (Lynwood), Sandy Rhynard, Sherry Burns, Barbara Burns-Briggs (Dave), son Jim Burns III (Maureen); eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild and sister Joan Gomez (Ed). Jim was employed as a bookkeeper at several meat packing houses on the Eastern Market in Detroit. He was a high school basketball and football referee in the Detroit area, and from 1950 to 1976 he held the down box for the University of Michigan chain gang.

Pat was born July 22, 1913, in Lapeer; married William A. Fanson, in 1931. A member of St. Paul s United Methodist Church, she retired from General Motors-Central Office where she was employed as a secretary for 17 years. Following retirement, she became a real estate agent for Real Estate One and completed 10 years of service. She was a member of the GM Girls Club. Hard work was her hobby and she outlived seven sisters and five brothers. Loving wife of William. Dear mother of Charles A. Fanson, of New Baltimore, Janifer D. Burpee of Rochester and Judith Ann (Robert) Sarrach of Shelby Twp. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Gerald Fanson. Funeral Services 11:00 am Tuesday at St. Pauls s United Methodist Church, 620 Romeo St. in Rochester. Visitation Monday 5-9pm at PIXLEY FUNERAL HOME, 322 W. University Drive in Rochester. Memorial contributions to Hospice of Southeastern Michigan, who lovingly cared for her during this prolonged illness. A special "thank-you" to caregivers Tara, Joyce, Maria, Judy and Pat for their dedication and loving care of our dear wife, mother and grandmother. May God richly bless all of you!

FEDAK, WALTER, 78 years old of Rossford, OH, passed away May 21, 1999 at St. Luke s Hospital. Walter worked at Chrysler Corporation for 30 years at the Highland Park, MI and Perrysburg, OH plants. He retired in 1979. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth (Cichewicz) Fedak; and daughters, Jackie Miniuk and Mary St. Amand. Also surviving are his brother Edward Fedak, 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren with one more on the way. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Stella Fedak; sister Alfreda and brother Michael. Friends may call on the Rossford- Sujkowski Funeral Home, Rossford, OH on Sunday where visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at All Saints Catholic Church (Dixie Hwy, Rossford OH) at 10 a.m. The Holy Cross Council Knights of Columbus will recite a Rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Interment will be at Ft. Meigs cemetery in Perrysburg.
