THOMSON, CHARLES C. SR. Charles Clinton Thomson Sr., 79 a resident of Southgate died Friday May 14, 1999 in Macon, Georgia. He was born July 25, 1920 in Ecorse, Michigan the son of Robert and Ida Thomson. He married Mary Anne Nestor on January 10, 1942. She preceded him in death on March 23, 1997. Chuck was University of Michigan Graduate, World War II U.S. Army Veteran serving in the South Pacific Theater with the 33rd Infantry Division. He was a retired Chrysler Corporation Executive and enjoyed golf and travel with his wife, family, and close friends. Surviving are a brother Robert F. Thomson of Spring Park, Minnesota, two sons, Robert and Linda of Marine City, Charles Jr. and Susan of Bloomfield Hills, and a daughter, Ann and Charles of Macon, Georgia and six grandchildren. A memorial service will take place at St. Pius Catholic Church in Southgate on Tuesday, May 25, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Arbor Hospice Memorial Fund.

BRETZ, OTTO, 80, of Eastport died at his home on Torch Lake Friday, May 19, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Ann Bretz, his son, Norton Bretz of Princeton, New Jersey and his daughter Katherine Berst of Eastport, Michigan. An infant daughter, Sarietta Ann, preceded him in death in 1941. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lee Georgs of New York, NY and Jay Bretz of Jackson, Wyoming. Also surviving are his sisters, Barbara Best of Memphis, Tennessee, Betty Hunter of Phoenix, Arizona and his brother, Frank Bretz of Missoula, Montana. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Otto was born May 14, 1920 in East Jordan, MI. He married Ann Pearl of Detroit, MI June 29, 1940 in Detroit. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II as an electronics technician 2nd class. After discharge he attended Wayne State University and received a Bachelor s degree in Industrial Arts. He later earned a Master s degree through the University of Michigan. Otto had a varied career working for Alcoa and several mobile home companies but most of his life was spent teaching Industrial Arts in Royal Oak and Troy. He retired from teaching in 1982 to the house he built on Torch Lake where he resided with his wife until his death. After retirement Otto pursued his life-long interest in ham radio and electronics and was well known for being able to build or fix anything. He served as the President of the Three Lakes Association; he was on the Board of Trustees for Torch Lake Township, a volunteer ambulance driver and a life member of the Elks. There will be a memorial service Thursday, May 25 at 4 pm at Mortensen s funeral home in Central Lake where friends may call from 3 pm until time of service, presided over by Norman Brokaw of the Unitarian Church, Traverse City. Family and friends will gather after the service at the family home. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Rick Aenis Fund or Habitat for Humanity.
