SCOTT, ALFRED B., Alfred B. Scott, 78, passed away October 6, 1998 at Hospice of NW Ohio. A native of Sumpter SC. he was a honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. A Great Lakes insurance agent in the Detroit area for many years, he was promoted to become the first Great Lakes branch manager in Toledo, opening the branch office in 1960. His career in the insurance field spanned 40 years. He retired in 1980 as an agent with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and was a member of their President s Conference. He was also a member of the National Association of Life Underwriters. Over the years he was active with Black Democratic Men s Caucus serving as their chaplain and was an avid bowler. He was also included on the Toledo Top 50 Black Leaders List. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Consuelo Temple Scott of Toledo; sons, Alfred McCrary Scott of Detroit, MI and Michael (Rena) Scott of Toledo; daughter, Kim Scott of Cleveland OH; sisters, Frances Scott and Ola Mae Thomas of Detroit, MI; step children, Oney (Joyce) Temple of New Albany, OH, Oona Temple-Lucienne and Oscar (Sandra) Temple of Toldeo; 16 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; special daughter-in-law, Alice Scott of Detroit, MI and other relatives and dear friends. The family would like to thank many family friends for their enduring love and support.
