McDERMOTT, CHARLES L. passed away on March 23rd, after a long illness. Charles served his nation and community for 30 years first in the 8th Army Air Corp. during World War II and later as a police office in Detroit, where he rose to the rank of Detective Lieutenant. Charles is survived by Martha, his wife of 57 years, three children Scott, Dennis and Debra and five grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Potere-Modetz Funeral Home, in Rochester, Michigan on April 1st at 10:00 AM.

OLIVERO, MARIO "PAT" March 27, 2000, age 88. Was born October 8, 1911 in Bracebridge, Ontario Canada. His family moved to Detroit in 1930. Mr. Olivero worked for Ford Motor Co. until his retirement in 1971. He spent much of his time traveling. He was always seen walking (10-15 miles a day) with his dog. He is survived by his son, Michael (Catherine), his sisters Sylvia Olivero and Alma (Michael) Zanotti. Also survived by grandchildren Dawn Nelson, Steve (Jennifer), Lisa, Mark, Ted Begley, Michael and Anthony Olivero, also four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by Marie Slubowski and her family. Pedeceased by his daughter Lorraine Begley, and his brother Aldo (Emily). Dear mother of Ronald (Carolyn), Gerald (Norma) and Sandra (Dave) Hein. survived by 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Sister of Helen Zimnel and Wanda Sheremet. Also survived by sisters in-law Wanda Kurkowski, Jenny Plautz, Mary Ulbrich and Theresea Barnes. She is predeceased by her brothers, Leonard and Alphonse Szczapanik, and a brother in-law Fritz Wnorowski. Visitation Thursday 4-9 p.m. and Friday 1-9 p.m. with a Rosary at 8:30 p.m. at Hopcroft Funeral Home 23919 John Rd., Hazel Park. Funeral services Saturday, instate 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Mary Magdalen Church.

BAUMGARTH, DR. RALPH E. July 31, 1941-March 25, 2001. Age 59, of Mt. Pleasant died Sunday, March 25, 2001 at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Services are 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant. Visitation is Friday from 4-9 p.m. at Lux Funeral Home and continues at the Church on Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the Sacred Heart Academy Foundation, the CMU Health Professions Building, or the Child and Family Enrichment Council on behalf of the Adopt A Child's Smile dental program. Ralph was born July 31, 1941 in Detroit, the son of Earl and Meta (Hohnke) Baumgarth. He married Sonja Anderson on December 17, 1965 in Detroit. He graduated from Clare High School and CMU with a Bachelor of Science. He graduated from U of M Dental School in 1966. Ralph served as captain in the U.S. Army Dental Corps, Ft. Lewis, Washington from 1966-1968. A member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Ninth District Dental Society and a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, Ralph strived to be well-informed on issues and information related to his profession. He was involved with the Mt. Pleasant Jaycees, the Lions Club, served on the Firstbank Board of Directors and was past president of the Mt. Pleasant Country Club Board of Directors. He was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Parish. Ralph loved spending time with his friends golfing, snow skiing, hunting, fishing and biking. He loved his profession and thought of his staff and patients as family. Survivors include his wife, Sonja; two sons, Dr. Matthew (Marianne) Baumgarth and Ryan Baumgarth; one grandson; his parents; one brother; one sister; and his mother-in-law, Inez Anderson.
