CASSIE, DR. LILLIAN, A long time resident of Detroit, taught music in the Detroit School system and at Wayne State University. During the depression, she directed a children's choir that performed on WJR radio station. She was also one of the first campers at Interlochen Music academy. Her father had been a member of the original Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Her doctoral thesis documented the history of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra from its inception up to 1943. Dr. Cassie was more recently an avid chamber musician and belonged to the chamber music societies of Detroit and Grosse Point. She is survived by two nephews, James Cassie of Rochester Hills and Bob Cassie of Mount Prospect of Illinois and dear friends Jean, Don, Meg and Helen Gregory.
