LAWLESS, ANNE M., Age 96, of Flushing, died Monday, April 9, 2001 at Fostrian Court. Funeral Liturgy will be 10 AM Thursday, April 12, 2001 at St. Robert Catholic Church, Fr. Steve Makranyi will officiate. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre cemetery at 1 PM. Visitation will be 6-9 PM Tuesday and 2-4 and 6-9 PM Wednesday at Rossell Funeral Home, Flushing. A Vigil for the deceased will be 7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Lawless was born in Gatesville, MI on November 25, 1904, the daughter of James and Elizabeth (Hamilton) Nicholson. She married Charles Norman Lawless on December 19, 1922 in Saginaw County. He preceded her in death December 26, 1961. Mrs. Lawless was a member of the St. Ann Society Gesu Parish in Detroit. She enjoyed baking and her main focus in life was her family. Surviving are: 2 daughters, Oris Schneider of Flushing, Ann Geraldine and husband George Bailey of Seattle, WA; son, Russell and wife Judy Lawless of Gulf Breeze, FL; 24 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Fern Jansen; and 2 brothers, Arthur and Edward Lawless.

McALEER, HOWARD JOHN age 85, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Marine City, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2001. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty and a daughter Gayle Barry. He is survived by his daughters, Carol (Douglas) Johnston of Grand Rapids, Janice (Richard) Korn of Grand Rapids and Cheryl (Charles) Krueger of Brighton; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; his brother Richard (Agnes) McAleer of West Bloomfield; a sister Margaret (Stu) Allen of Madison Heights, and a son-in-law Richard K. Barry of St. Clair. In 1938 Mr. McAleer founded and continued as president of Formax Manufacturing Corporation. The Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday 11 a.m. at St. Stephens Catholic Church (760 Gladstone SE) Grand Rapids with the Rev. Mark Prszbysz, Celebrant.
