HDWARD, JULIET GRAF March 13, 1998 after a brief illness. She was a wise, loving, caring wife and mother and leaves her husband Edwin of Rochester Hills, daughter Kathryn Gosselin of Newton, MA and son Larry Graf of Fort Wayne, IN., a sister Kathryn Murphy of Livonia, granddaughters Tracy and Nicole Graf, both of Fort Wayne, and grandson Michael Howard of Maudlin, SC. She was the widow of Kenneth Lee Graf. Also surviving are her five step-sons, Rudy Howard of Bay City, Gregory Howard of Sacramento, CA, Paul Howard of Lansing, Bruce Howard and Webster Walker both of Seattle. She was born in Detroit, the daughter of Fred Elmer Evans and Ethel Mae (Pettibone) Evans. A Northwestern University graduate, who studied education at Wayne State University, taught at Taft middle school in Detroit for 15 years, retiring in 1976. She was a member of Birmingham Unitarian Church for the past 21 years, were she served on the church board, was a president of the Alliance, taught Sunday school, and was an active and valued member of many other committees and taskforces. Other memberships included the League of Women Voters, American Civil Liberties Union, Cranbrook Institute, the Smithsonian Institution, Detroit Institute of Arts Founders Society, the Interfaith Alliance and life membership in the Detroit Federation of Teachers. Of special note was her active membership in the BGs, a group of women, classmates at Detroit's Cooley High School, who has met regularly for more than 50 years. "Julie was truly beloved, not only by her family but by a host of friends for her bubbly personality her eagerness to help out in times of trial, her unfailing kindness of expression and deed, " said her husband. "She loved to entertain--a truly wonderful hostess--and she was alway ready for a new challenge, whether it was riding a motorcycle or a roller coaster, but whatever the situation she was always a lady, graceful and gracious. In the last month of her life, she was on the toughest roller coaster of her life. When it came to the end, she exited with unfailing grace and dignity, at peace. A memorial service will be held in Birmingham Unitarian Church, at Woodward and Lone Pine in Bloomfield Hills, at 3 p.m. Saturday March 21, with a reception following. Those who would like to memorialize her are encouraged to contribute to the church's Memorial Garden Fund or a charity of their choice.

HEIDRICH, ARTHUR SR., March 15, 1998, age 86. Beloved husband of Mathilda (Tillie); dear father of Arthur Jr. (Janet Ann), Edith (Kenneth) Rancilio and Doris (John) Vorlick; also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Beloved grandfather of Mary Catherine and Robert (Bobby) Moeller. Pre-deceased by his late wife Patricia.
