Mrs. Lois M. Alford
Mrs. Lois M. Alford, 82 of Gaylord died Thursday, December 28, 2000, at McReynolds Hall. Mrs. Alford was born in Muncie, Indiana on December 14, 1918, and moved to Gaylord in 1975 from Dearborn Heights. She was a member of the Chrysanthemum Chapter #114 Order of the Eastern Star in Gaylord. On March 23, 1938 in Detroit, she married J. Edward "Ted" Alford, who survives. The couple was married 62 years. Also surviving is 1 son, Edward M. "Ted" (Patsy) Alford of Dixon Lake; 3 grandchildren, Deborah Ann (Chris) Carey of Negaunee, Scott Edward (Sue) Alford of Hutchinson, MN, and Lt. Reginald Kai (Kathryn) Mason of Yokosuka, Japan; 3 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Amanda, and Evan, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Alford will be interred in Parkview Memorial cemetery in Livonia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. Alford, may be made to McReynolds Hall or to the Gaylord Chapter of the Eastern Star. The Alford family would like to extend their deepest appreciation for the loving care given by the staffs of McReynolds Hall, Otsego Memorial Hospital, Munson Health Care and Shared Care.

Mr. Casimer P. Jaroniewski
Mr. Casimer P. Jaroniewski, 77 of Elmira died Monday, December 25, 2000, at Charlevoix Area Hospital in Charlevoix, MI. Casimer was born February 27, 1923, in Warner Township, the son of Thomas and Pearl (Kucharek) Jaroniewski. He married the former Elaine Blough. She preceded him in death on Dec 26, 1995. He worked for Buick in Flint for 29 years as an electric crane operator. He is survived by 3 sons: Casimer "Bud" (Diane) of Elmira, Joseph (Carol) of Millington, Michael (Sheila) of Grayling; 4 daughters: Arlene (Jim) Roberts of Florida, Gail Jaroniewski of Florida, Karen (Ken) Pigott of Fenton, Christine (Joe) Koos of Mt. Morris; 14 grandchildren: Sonya, Jerame, Dawn, Brian, Randy, Joshua, Jessica, Joseph, Tiffany, Vanessa, Ashley, Kenny, Autumn and Dale; 2 great-grandchildren: Zachary and Jenna; 1 brother: Donald (Delores) of Spruce; 2 sisters: Veronica (Eugene) Dameral of Boyne City, Monica (Stanley) Cherry of Hubbard Lake; 3 sisters-in-law: Marion Jaroniewski of Shelby Twp., Rosie"Tillie" Jaroneski of Elmira, Helen Jaroniewski of Warren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers: John Jaroniewski, Michael Jaroniewski, Leo Jaroneski, Vincent Jaroneski and 2 sisters: Stella Jaroniewski and Regina Nowak. FUNERAL SERVICES were held on Friday, December 29, 2000, at 11:00 AM from St. Thomas Church in Elmira, Rev. Richard Hannon, officiating. Burial will be in St. Thomas cemetery in Elmira. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice through the Nelson Funeral Home.

Miss Lorraine Marie Bush
Miss Lorraine Marie Bush, 75 of Johannesburg died Monday, December 25, 2000, at Tendercare. Lorraine was born in Detroit on December 10, 1925, the daughter of John M. Bush and Casimira A. (Tabaczynski) Bush. She began vacationing in Johannesburg in the 1940's and moved to the area permanently 2 years ago, from Detroit. She was a retired American Motors employee. Miss Bush was a member of St. Francis of Assisi in Detroit and St. Francis of Assisi in Lewiston. She loved dancing and hunting. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jack. She is survived by 8 nieces and nephews: John & Peggy Bush of Gaylord, Joseph & Jeanne Bush of Gaylord, Jacqueline & Ron Keyser of Johannesburg, James & Patrice Bush of East Tawas; 10 loving great-nieces and nephews: Brad, Dana, Eric, Bennie, Nicki, Cassie, Brittany, Joseph, Theresa and Billy. FUNERAL SERVICES were held on Thursday, December 28, 2000, at 11:00 AM from St. Francis Church in Lewiston, Father Gregory Kurtz, officiating. Burial will be in St. Hedwig cemetery in Dearborn Heights. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Straits, through the Nelson Funeral Home.

Mr. John C. Strzynski
Mr. John C. Strzynski, 90 of Gaylord died Friday, December 22, 2000, at his home. Mr. Strzynski was born in Gaylord on December 22, 1910, and had been a life long resident of the Gaylord area. He was a member of St. Mary Cathedral parish and a lifetime member of the F.O.E. #1825. Mr. Strzynski had retired from Standard Products. On April 26, 1941 in Gaylord he married the former Rose Czarkowski. She preceded him in death on May 10, 1991. He is survived by 4 children: Pat (Ken) Kierczynski of Gaylord, Jenny (Steve) O'Rourke of Gaylord, RoseMarie Bailey of St. Augustine, FL, Bob (Jean) Strzynski of Mt. Pleasant, SC; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Carrie Terry of Gaylord and Julia Cherwinski of Vanderbilt. FUNERAL SERVICES were held on Wednesday, December 27, 2000, at 11:00 AM from St. Mary Cathedral, Rev. John McCracken, officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Vanderbilt.

Mrs. Linda Sue Cherwinski
Linda Sue Cherwinski, Age 47 of Gaylord died Wednesday December 20, 2000, at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. Mrs. Cherwinski was born on December 19, 1953, in Flint, MI., and moved to Gaylord in 1966. She was a member of the Eastern Star and she enjoyed music, singing, dancing, writing poetry, and also loved all of God’s creatures, great and small. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Edmund, of Gaylord; one son, Nathan (Amanda) Cherwinski, of Elmira; and one grandson, Blaze Cherwinski. Also surviving is one brother, Frederick (Judy) Cregar of Fenton; 2 sisters: Faith (Al) Gerard of Mt. Morris, Christina Travis of West Palm Beach Florida; and an aunt, Mary Mulkey of Flint. MEMORIAL SERVICES were held on Saturday, December 23, 2000 at 11:00 AM from the Nelson Funeral Home, Pastor. David Hugger officiating. Memorials appreciated to the Otsego County Animal Shelter, the World Wildlife Foundation or to the family, through the Nelson Funeral Home.

FUNERAL SERVICES will be held on Monday, March 19, 2001, at 1:00 PM from the Nelson Funeral Home, Rev. John Naile officiating. Visitation at the funeral home will be on Sunday from 3 to 8 PM and on Monday from noon until the time of the service. Burial will take place in Fairview cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan or to the First United Methodist Church, through the Nelson Funeral Home.

FUNERAL SERVICES will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at 11:00 AM from the Nelson Funeral Home. Visitation at the funeral home will be on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM and on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Lung Association or Otsego Memorial Hospital.

Mr. O. Clifton "Cliff" House
Mr. O. Clifton “Cliff” House, 87, of Gaylord died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Otsego Memorial Hospital. Mr. House spent his entire life in Gaylord and wintered many years in Arizona after retirement. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and square dancing. Mr. House was preceded in death by three brothers: Fred House, Ira House, Richard House, two sisters: Nora Clark, Dorothy Slater, and one great grandson, Kurt Prusakiewicz. Mr. House is survived by his wife Macelle of Gaylord, one daughter, Marjorie (Redford) Sanders of Gaylord, one son, Eugene (Mary) House of Gaylord, six grandchildren: Susan Nussbaum, Terri Sorenson, Sandra Prusakiewicz, Jeffrey House, Victoria Prusakiewicz, Christina McDonald, and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, George House of Florida, one sister-in-law, Orma Clark of St. Ignace, MI, and many nieces and nephews. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held on Monday, March 19, 2001, at 1:00 PM from the Nelson Funeral Home, Rev. John Naile officiating. Visitation at the funeral home will be on Sunday from 3 to 8 PM and on Monday from noon until the time of the service. Burial will take place in Fairview cemetery. Mrs. Helen M. Hergenroeder
Mrs. Helen M. Hergenroeder, 78 of Gaylord died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at her home. Mrs. Hergenroeder was born in Kalamazoo on January 19, 1923. She had lived in San Diego for several years working as a house painter and interior decorator. She later went to work for Southern California Edison and retired from the company. In 1986, after retirement, she returned to Vanderbilt. Mrs. Hergenroeder then moved to Ohio and returned to Gaylord 2 years ago. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, crossword puzzles, crocheting and weaving. Mrs. Hergenroeder is survived by her husband John "Fred", her daughter Kay (Walter) Michaels of Ohio, two grandsons: Patrick (Joanna) Kinshofer of California and Gary (Anne Marie) Kinshofer of Ohio, and two great-grandchildren: Audrey and George Kinshofer. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at 11:00 AM from the Nelson Funeral Home, Rev. John Naile officiating. Visitation at the Nelson Funeral Home will be on Tuesday from 6-9 PM and on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hergenroeder family, through the Nelson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ann C. White
Mrs. Ann C, White, 43 of Vanderbilt died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at her home. Mrs. White was born in Detroit on July 16, 1957, and moved to Vanderbilt in 1995 from St. Clair Shores. Mrs. White is survived by her husband of 15 years, Robert White, two children: R.J. and Katie White, her mother Katherine Huybrechts of Clearwater, FL, two sisters: Andrea (Jeff) Charon of Fraser and Sue Ross of Grand Rapids, two brothers: Tom (Debbie) Huybrechts of Sterling Heights and Bob Huybrechts of Harrison Township. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Barbara White of Sterling Heights, and two sisters-in-law: Michele (Dennis) Miller of Sterling Heights and Sharon (Jim) Miller - Gooch of East Pointe, and numerous nieces and nephews. MEMORIAL SERVICES will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2001, at 1:00 PM from Northern Lights Christian Fellowship in Vanderbilt, Pastor Dave Hugger officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the White family through the Nelson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gloria J. Damp
Gloria J. Damp, 81, of Gaylord died Saturday, March 10, 2001, at Otsego Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Damp was born March 11, 1919, in Detroit and moved to Gaylord in 1980 from Trenton. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, the Gaylord Lioness Club, Otsego Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and past member of the Chrysanthemum Chapter #114 Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed all crafts and reading. Mrs. Damp is survived by her children: Judith (Ralph) Hella of Gaylord, David (Susan) Damp of Macomb Township, 10 grandchildren: Edgar (Corrine) Damp, David Waldecker, Jennifer Damp, Eric Damp, Heidi (Michael) Willison, David (Lori) Hella, Timothy Hella, Michael, Mark and Lisa Stuart, and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband George in 1995 and her daughter Cheryl Stuart in 1982. She was also preceded in death by 1 brother, Harry Ackley, and 2 sisters Shirley Strock and Mona Bowen. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held on Monday, March 12, 2001, at 10:00 AM, from St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Rev. Gerald Rehagen, officiating. Visitation at the Nelson Funeral Home will be on Sunday from 1-9 PM and on Monday at the church beginning at 9:00 AM. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery in Gaylord. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Building Fund, through the Nelson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Evelyn L. Eastwood
Mrs. Evelyn L. Eastwood, 89 of Lewiston, died Saturday, March 10, 2001, at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. Mrs. Eastwood was born in Detroit on June 4, 1911, and moved to Lewiston in 1946. Mrs. Eastwood was preceded in death by her husband Howard in 1983. She is survived by two sons: Charles H. of San Francisco and Gary F. (Pam) of Howell, 5 grandchildren: Brenda Eastwood of Vancouver, Washington, Ruth (Ed) Muir of Hartland, MI, Randy Brayman of Howell, Ed (Julie) Eastwood of Hartland, Candy (Bret) VanRensselaer of Alcova, Wyoming, 4 great-grandchildren: Courtni Eastwood, Gabbrelle Muir, Gary "Bugsy" Eastwood, and Maddison Muir. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at 11:00 AM from the Lewiston Congregational United Church of Christ, Rev. Karen Schulte, officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-8 PM at the Nelson Funeral Home in Gaylord and on Wednesday at the church beginning at 10 AM. Burial will be in Albert Twp. cemetery in Lewiston. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewiston Congregational United Church of Christ Building Fund, or to the Lewiston Historical Museum, through the Nelson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Estelle M. Donovan
Mrs. Estelle M. Donovan, 92 of Gaylord went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 7, 2001. Mrs. Donovan was born March 10, 1908, in Detroit and moved to Gaylord in 1978 from Troy. Mrs. Donovan was a very caring and uplifting person. She was an active volunteer with RSVP, and also volunteered her time at South Maple School for 18 years, tutoring children and working in the library. She loved music, the piano, the organ and formerly sang with her sister. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and making dolls and doll clothes. She attended the Gaylord Evangelical Free Church. Mrs. Donovan is survived by her children: Nancy (Donald) DeMara of Gaylord, James (Holly) Donovan of Gaylord, 8 grandchildren: David DeMara, Donna Miller, Dennis DeMara, Wally Donovan, Dawn Caudy, Brian Donovan, Leah and Jamie. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel in 1971 and her son Daniel in 1992. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2001, at 4:30 PM from the Gaylord Evangelical Free Church, Rev. Joseph Sereno, officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday beginning at 3:30 PM. Burial will be in Roseland Park cemetery in Berkley, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan through the Nelson Funeral Home.

CRUMBAUGH
Mrs. Jolynn K. Crumbaugh, 62 of Gaylord died Saturday, June 30, 2001 at her home. Mrs. Crumbaugh was born in Hastings, Michigan on August 23, 1938. She had lived in Ithaca for several years and moved to Gaylord in 1993 from Lansing. She was active in the Michawye' golf leagues and had served as president of the league. Mrs. Crumbaugh is survived by her husband of 41 years, Gerald; three sons, Jeffrey Crumbaugh of Hancock, MI, Stephen Crumbaugh of Chicago, IL, Stuart (Sonja) Crumbaugh of Moraga, CA; one granddaughter, Carlie Crumbaugh. MEMORIAL SERVICES will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2001 at 2:00 PM from the Nelson Funeral Home, in Gaylord, Rev. Mary McClure, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Otsego County Library in Gaylord, through the Nelson Funeral Home, 135 N. Center, Gaylord, MI 49735.
