Steven Albert Hauser, 62, of New Brighton, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at his home. A memorial services was held Saturday, Dec. 16, at Faith United Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye, with interment in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye. Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye handled the arrangements.
Steven was born July 4, 1938, in Sleepy Eye, the son of Willard G. and Celestine "Sally" L. Hauser. He grew up and attended school in Sleepy Eye and was very active in school athletics during his school years. He was an All Conference football and basketball player and was also active in track. He attended Mankato State University and graduated with a B.S. degree in business. Steven served in the Army reserve for six months. He married Wendy Smith in 1963. The couple made their home in Burnsville. Steven worked at Med Tronics for many years, retiring this past July. He enjoyed his family and many sports, including golf and tennis.
He is survived by his sons, Mark Hauser of Burnsville, and Matt Hauser of California; and a brother and his wife Errol and Rita Hauser of Sleepy Eye. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dr. F. George Woessner, 83, of Sleepy Eye, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. Services were Tuesday, Dec. 19, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, with interment in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye, Veterans Memorial Garden section, with military rites. Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye handled the arrangements.
Frederick George Woessner was born Sept. 26, 1917, in Perham, the son of Frederick and Frances, (Rekowski) Woessner. He grew up and attended school in Perham. After graduation he attended Moorhead State University and received his teaching degree. George taught math and science at Albany High School. He entered the United States Navy on Aug. 29, 1942. He was a member of the Normandy Invasion, serving on the USS Quincy at the rank of lieutenant sergeant until his discharge on Jan. 7, 1946. George married Ione Krebs on Sept. 30, 1944, in Albany. After his discharge from the Navy, he attended the University of Minnesota Dental School and graduated in 1950. He practiced dentistry for 40 years in Sleepy Eye. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye and a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the American Legion, Sleepy Eye Golf Club, American Dental Association, Minnesota Dental Association and a past member of the Lions Club. George enjoyed spending time at his cabin at Rice Lake. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and enjoyed pheasant hunting in years past.
Memorials are preferred to St. Mary's Church and school.
He is survived by his wife, Ione Woessner of Sleepy Eye; six sons and their wives, Tom and Joan Woessner of Eagan, Gerry and Lynne Woessner of Plymouth, Mark and JoAnn Woessner of Eden Prairie, Steve and Leann Woessner of Maple Grove, Don and Ann Woessner of Roseville, and Mike and Julie Woessner of Golden Valley; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Stoll of St. Cloud; sister-in-law, Harriet Woessner of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and an aunt, Amelia Woessner of Perham. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Bernard.

Bradley Ross Heilman, 29, of Springfield, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, in Springfield. Services will be Thursday, Dec. 21, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton, with interment in New Ulm City Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield handled the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer K. Heilman of Springfield; parents, Leigh and Marilyn Heilman of New Ulm; parents-in-law, Jerry and Peggy Martius of Sanborn; paternal grandparents, Ross and Audre Heilman of Hutchinson; maternal grandmother, Gladys Cree of Topeka, Kan.; sister, Jenny Heilman of St. Louis Park; brother- and sister-in-1aw, Darren and Tracey Martius and their children Tyler and Jordan of Lamberton; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Glenn Cree.
Bradley was born Dec. 25, 1970, in St. Paul, to Leigh and Marilyn (Cree) Heilman. He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1989 and attended Concordia College for one year. He graduated from Mankato State University in 1993 with a degree in urban management. As a young man, Bradley achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, as have all the Heilman men. He started working at Advertising Unlimited, Inc. in Sleepy Eye, now called Norwood Industries, in 1996 as a computer operator/order processing and customer service representative. On Aug. 17, 1996, he was united in marriage to Jennifer Kristine Martius at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, sang in Senior Choir, taught Sunday School, played piano, was a Star Trek (Trekkie) fan, and enjoyed going to movies, concerts and plays. He loved all types of pets and wildlife, but he had a special love of wolves. He enjoyed visiting and spending time in the Twin Cities area, playing farmer and operating the machinery. Bradley was a good samaritan who loved helping people. He lived the motto "Soli Deo Gloria."

George "Goose" Robert Gustafson, 76, of Sleepy Eye, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye. Services were Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, with interment in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye. Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye handled the arrangements.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Gary and Doreen Gustafson of Edwardsville, Ill., Dennis and Cindy Gustafson of New Ulm, Phyllis and Steve Gentz of Lindstrom, Roger and Denise Gustafson of Stacy, Wayne and DeAnn of Owasso, Okla., and Richard Gustafson of New Ulm; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred and husband Cliff Albright of Yuma, Ariz., and Evelyn Toth of Spokane, Wash.; and cousins, nieces, nephews and brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois Gustafson in 1994; son, Glenn Gustafson; and brother, Otto Gustafson.
George was born Dec. 7, 1924 in Sleepy Eye, the son of Oscar and Anna (Wischstadt) Gustafson. He grew up and attended school in Sleepy Eye. George entered the United States Army in June of 1944, serving during World War II until his discharge in July of 1946. George married Lois Guhlke in Sleepy Eye on April 24, 1948. The couple made their home in Sleepy Eye. George worked in road construction as an equipment operator for many years in several areas of Minnesota. Later, he and his wife opened Gus's Bar in Sleepy Eye. George was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Sleepy Eye Golf Club, the 49ers, and the VFW. He enjoyed bowling, golf and traveling and held a pilot's license.
Casket bearers were Bopper Heiderscheidt, Dennis Guhlke, Red Zarn, Pudge Mickelson, Larry Krenz and Eddie Huiras.

Norman Niels Ahlrich, 70, of Sleepy Eye, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at his home. Services were held Friday, Dec. 22, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, with interment in St. Mary's Cemetery. Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye handled the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Ahlrich of Sleepy Eye; sons, Steven of Sleepy Eye, Alan and special friend Mitze Marti of Sleepy Eye, Mike and wife Kathy of Sleepy Eye; daughter, Sharon and husband Tom Bonkrude of St. Cloud; five grandchildren, Rebeccah, McKayla, Nathaniel, Shayna and Lucas; sister-in-law, Bert Ahlrich of Darwin; and mother-in-law, Leona Lowinske of Sleepy Eye.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elizabeth; brother, Jim; and father-in-law, Ambrose Braun.
Norman was born on Sept. 4, 1930, in Redwood Falls, the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Nemitz) Ahlrich. He grew up and attended school in Redwood Falls. Norman married Marjorie Braun on June 19, 1957, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. After marriage, they farmed near Franklin and Olivia before moving to Sleepy Eye where Norman worked at Pietrus Foods until it closed. He then worked part-time at Town's Edge Lumber until he retired. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, the NRA, the Moose Club and the Eagles. Norman enjoyed deer hunting at his brother's farm in Darwin.

James "Jim" F. Tesrow, 61, of Sleepy Eye, died Wednesday., Dec. 20, 2000, at the Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital. Services were held Saturday, Dec. 23, at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye with Pastor Donna Martinson officiating. Military rites were held by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard with interment in Fort Ridgely Cemetery, Fairfax.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Tesrow of Sleepy Eye; children, Mickle Tesrow of Prior Lake, Kathie and husband Robin Hoffman of Oak Grove, Cindy Roberts of Loveland, Colo.; step-children, Scott Meyer of Sleepy Eye, Rachel Meyer and fiancˇ Carl Hoffman of Sleepy Eye; six grandchildren; sister, June and husband Corwin Firle of Fairfax; and mother, Mildred Tesrow of Sleepy Eye. He was preceded in death by his father, James.
James was born on March 8, 1939, in Home Township, Brown County, the son of James and Mildred (Brandt) Tesrow. He grew up and attended District 49 country school. Jim graduated in 1957 from Sleepy Eye Public High School. After graduation, he worked for Reddemann's and West Side Garage, and also his uncle in Morgan. He served in the United States Air Force from January of 1961 until his honorable discharge as a master sergeant instructor in July of 1981. Jim served in Germany, South Carolina, Illinois, the Phillipines and South Korea, working with liquid oxygen. He wrote a manual on liquid oxygen and refrigeration for instructors to use in the military. Jim married Renate Wansel on April 2, 1964, in Germany. After his discharge, he worked part-time in Sleepy Eye as a mail carrier and also worked at Meyer's Bar and Lounge. Jim married Sharon Meyer on July 24, 1992, in Sleepy Eye. He was an active life member of the AMVets #92 in Rantoul, Ill. Jim enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, cooking and woodworking.

Sheri (Aschenbrenner) Ubl, 38, of St. Paul Park and formerly of New Ulm, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester.
Mass of Christian burial was held Dec. 28 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, with burial in the Catholic cemetery.
Sheri is survived by her husband, Steve J. Ubl of St. Paul Park; daughter, Katie; and son, Dan, both at home; parents, Alfred, Jr. "Fritz" and Lillian Aschenbrenner of New Ulm; brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Teresa Aschenbrenner of rural Sleepy Eye; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike and Laura Ubl of Lakeville, Pat and Barb Ubl of New Ulm, George and Rose Ubl of Hayward, Calif., Bill and Wanda Ubl of New Ulm, Marge and Ben Tolles of Clontarf, Mary Ubl of Minneapolis, Jane Ubl of Mankato; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, James and Dorothy Ubl.
She was born on June 13, 1962, in New Ulm to Alfred Jr. and Lillian (Schroepfer) Aschenbrenner. She attended Catholic schools in New Ulm and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1980. On August 7, 1982, she married Steve J. Ubl at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. They lived in New Ulm for five years. She had worked at Minnesota Valley Testing Laboratories (M.V.T.L.) and Fischer Drug of New Ulm. They moved to the Twin Cities area in 1987 and moved to St. Paul Park in December of 1988. She worked at LandO'Lakes in Arden Hills as a legal secretary for the past 13 years.

James "Papa Jim" Jemmings, age 86, of Morgan, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001 at the Sunwood Good Samaritan Center in Redwood Falls. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan, with burial in the church cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Nelson Funeral Home in Morgan with a Parish Prayer Service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Thursday.
James was born on Sept. 11, 1914, to Albert and Sophie (Pohlen) Jemmings in Hospers, Iowa. He attended schools in Grandville, Iowa until moving to Canby in 1930. He moved to Morgan in 1938 and married Eleanore Agnes Ricke on Oct. 25, 1938, at the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan. He built their home in Morgan in 1950. He was also involved with the construction on the church, school and rectory in Morgan. Jim was the owner and operator of Jemming's Trucking in Morgan for 60 years, retiring in the fall of 1998. He was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing cards, camping, fishing, hunting, dancing, taking trips, listening to old time music, telling jokes and eating.
James is survived by his wife, Eleanore Jemmings of Morgan; son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Pam Jemmings of Morgan; daughter, Sharon Lund of Redwood Falls; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Howard Christensen; and Clara Cleveland, all of Canby. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Lawrence, Henry and Art.

Julius A. Weber, 90, of Springfield, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at the St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield. Services were held Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001 at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, with interment in St. Raphael's Catholic cemetery.
Julius was born June 20, 1910, in Wesley, Iowa to Frank and Katherine (Fessler) Weber. He moved with his family to Brookville Township at age 10. He attended country school in Brookville Township, Redwood County and St. Raphael's Catholic School. On November 13, 1934, he married Beatrice Steffensmeier at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan. They farmed in Burnstown Township near Springfield for five years, then purchased a farm in Willow Lake Township. In the spring of 1941, they moved two miles northeast of Wanda where they raised their family. In 1991, they built a new home in Springfield. During the farming years, Julius and Beatrice had a herd of holstein cows and dairy was a major part of their farm operation. Julius helped to organize the Wanda Cooperative Creamery that merged with the New Ulm Creamery, which later became a part of the Associated Milk Producers, Inc., and he served for many years on the creamery board of directors. Julius also served as a director on the Wanda Farmers Elevator for a number of years. He was a former member of St. Raphael's Council #2769, Knights of Columbus.
Julius is survived by his wife Beatrice of Springfield; daughters, Cathryn and husband Alfred Liebl of New Ulm, Doris Weber of Springfield, Audrey and husband Michael Wagner of Sleepy Eye, Arlene and husband Edward Nelson of Clements, and Judy and husband David Lipetzky of Springfield; sons, Bob and wife Colleen Weber of New Ulm, Ralph and wife Judi Weber of Sanborn, Larry and wife Marg Weber of Sanborn, and Daniel Weber of Wanda; 40 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Agnes Weber of Springfield, Ida Eichten of Wanda, Leona and Jerry Jenniges of Mendota Heights, Clarence and Magdalyn Steffensmeier of Morgan, Gladys Steffensmeier of Morgan, and Rita Steffensmeier of Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Richard in 1938; three grandchildren, Michael Weber, Jenny Lipetzky and Baby Girl Nelson; brothers, Frank, Edward, Otto, John, Vincent and twin brothers in infancy; and a sister, Martha.
Casket bearers were Eric Weber, Duane Liebl, Kelly Guetter, Michael Wagner, Jr., Brad Weber, and Shelly Willhite.

Loretta K. Kiecker, 89, of Fairfax, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax. Services were held on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Fairfax. Interment was at the St. John Lutheran Church cemetery in Cairo Township, Renville County. Hauser-Hantge Funeral Home of Fairfax handled the arrangements.
Loretta was born on March 5, 1911, in New Ulm. She was the daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth (Holm) Prokosch. She grew up and received her education in her home area of New Ulm. On Jan. 2, 1930, Loretta was united in marriage to Walter Kiecker at the St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax. This marriage was blessed with two sons, Jerome and Reuben. Loretta and Walter farmed with Walter's father. She held employment with A. J. Pietrus & Sons in Sleepy Eye, for 16 years. Later, they resided in Fairfax. Loretta and Walter shared 42 years of marriage before Walter passed away in Oct. of 1972. After Walter's death, Loretta resided at the Fairview Apartments in Fairfax, where she lived until a year ago, when she moved into the Fairfax Community Home.
Loretta is survived by her son, Jerome and his wife Laura of Fairfax; daughter-in-law Doris Kiecker of Sleepy Eye; grandchildren, Sherri Hertling of Mankato, Deborah Larson of Fairfax; Jean Kiecker of New Ulm; Joan Kirshner of Sleepy Eye; Brenda Kiecker of Sleepy Eye; Julie Johnson of Brooklyn Park; Bruce Kiecker of Lakeview; Brian Kiecker of Eagan; 13 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister Hildegarde Kiecker of Hopkins; and many nieces and nephews.

Arthur O. Kratz, 89, formerly of Comfrey, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at St. Therese Home in New Hope. Services were Wednesday, Jan. 10, at New Hope Lutheran Church in Comfrey, with interment in Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Comfrey. Funeral arrangements were handled by Sturm Funeral Home in Comfrey.
Art was born July 16, 1911, in Bashaw Township, Brown County, to Oscar and Emma (Wing) Kratz. He attended and graduated from Comfrey High School in 1829. Art farmed with his father and brother Floyd. He married Anne Goltz on Nov. 18, 1943, at West Svedahl Lutheran Church. Following marriage, Art and Anne continued farming on the Kratz farmstead, which is now a Century Farm. Art was a former member of Faith Lutheran Church in Comfrey and currently held membership in New Hope Lutheran Church. He served on the Faith Lutheran Church and cemetery boards, the Bashaw Town Board, served as constable of Bashaw Township and was one of a number of the Comfrey tornado survivors. Art enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, playing cards and spending time with his family. He was active in and an avid supporter of the church, and took great pride in farming.
He is survived by his wife, Anne of Crystal Lake Good Samaritan in Robinsdale; son, Wayne and wife JoAnne Kratz of Maple Grove; daughters, Diane and husband Jim Deutsch of Maple Grove, Jane and husband Bill Isaacson of Maple Grove; four grandchildren, Scott Kratz, Kevin Kratz, Michael Deutsch and Heather and husband Jake Danaher; three great-grandchildren, Dillon and Madison Deutsch and Nathan Danaher ; and a brother Floyd and wife Rosalyn Kratz of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donavon, in 1991; brothers, Walter and Roy; and sisters, Alice, Hilda, Edith and Roscelia.
Casket bearers were Scott Kratz, Kevin Kratz, Heather Danaher and Michael Deutsch. Honorary casket bearers were Bob Kratz, Doug Kratz, Rick Kratz and Delwin Kratz.

Charlotte "Lottie" A. Simmet, 92, of Sleepy Eye, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at the Divine Providence Community Home. Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, Jan. 11, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with interment in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
Charlotte was born on Jan. 13, 1908, in New Ulm, the daughter of Anton and Anna (Kitzberger) Simmet. She grew up and attended school in New Ulm. Lottie was a long time resident of Sleepy Eye. In Dec. of 1995, she moved to Divine Providence Community Home where she made her home until the present time. Lottie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye.
She is survived by her nephew, James B. and wife Ellen Leary of Littleton, Col. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Peter and Anton (Tony) Simmit; and sisters, Bertha Leary and Mabel Dietz.
Casket bearers were: Pete Schmitz, Jim Schwartz, Larry Soukup, Phil Heymans, Leander Sellner and Richard Callanan.
