Norman Johns
Norman Johns 85, Glenwood, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at Glenwood Retirement Village. Funeral service were Tuesday Aug., 31, at United Parish in Glenwood, with Rev. Greg Kapphahn officiating. Interment was at Glenwood City Cemetery.
Norman Johns, the son of Fred and Jessie (Spelbrink) Johns, was born July 20, 1919, in New Ulm. He grew up on the family farm near Essig and graduated from New Ulm High School in 1938. Norman was united in marriage to Della Larson Sept. 20, 1941. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1942 and served In NewFoundland, Saipan and Okinawa in the construction battalion.
After his discharge in 1945, Norman returned to Sleepy Eye and continued employment with Del Monte Corporation, as a field supervisor until retirement in 1980. He enjoyed woodworking, silver smithing, stained glass, taxidermy, hunting, fishing and most especially dancing. At 83, he became interested in computers and loved to e-mail friends.
Norman is survived by his wife, Della of Glenwood; son Robert and wife Jeri Johns of Rochelle, Ill.; son-in-law, Dean Paulson; grandchildren, Doug (Mary Beth) Paulson, John (Kari) Paulson, Todd (Tammy) Paulson, Carrie (Dan) Davis and Holly (Bryan) Kuhn; great-grandchildren, Eric (Emily) Sorum, Laura Paulson, Spencer Davis, Logan Davis, Sydney Kuhn, Alex Paulson, Mitchell Paulson and Carly Paulson; great-great-grandchild, Hanna; step-grandchildren, Brianne, Jennie and Danny; sisters, Iris and husband Don Boie and Doris and husband Randall Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sharon Paulson; and brothers, Erwin, Fred Jr. and Adolph.

Shirley Kamm
Shirley (Mrs. Charles) Kamm, 68, rural Courtland, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at New Ulm Medical Center, New Ulm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity with Father John A. Richter celebrating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Searles. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday.
Shirley was born on Sept. 23, 1935, in Sleepy Eye, to William and Bertha (Franke) Plamann. On May 3, 1956, she married Charles Kamm in Anoka. She was the most beautiful woman in the world and will be greatly missed.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Charles Kamm of rural Courtland; sons, Randy Kamm and his wife, Christina of Mankato; and Jeffrey Kamm and his special friend, Chris of Courtland; grandsons, Steven, Bryan and Todd; great-grandson, Jordan; a sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte and Elden Kamm of North Mankato; a brother, William "Bill" Plamann of Watkins; and a sister-in-law, Jean Plamann of Hammond, La. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Walter Kuelbs; brothers, James and Thomas Plamann; sister, Gloria Nagel; and sister-in-law, Alice Plamann.

Dorothy M. Ress
Dorothy Mary (Felber) Ress, 83, New Ulm, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at New Ulm Medical Center, New Ulm. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Ulm, on Tuesday, Sept. 14, with interment at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye. Dorothy Mary Felber, the daughter of Frank Xavier and Mamie C. (Raboin) Felber, was born Jan. 10, 1921, at Easton. She received her education at the Catholic School in Easton. On Feb. 10, 1946, Dorothy was united in marriage to Stanley Jacob Ress in Easton. They made their home in Wells until 1958, when they moved to Portage, Wis. and then in 1967, they moved to Sleepy Eye. Stanley died on March 16, 1986. In 1987, Dorothy moved to the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. She enjoyed cooking and canning and was very active in her church, but her greatest joy was being a grandma.
Dorothy is survived by sons, Michael and his wife Carrie Ress of New Ulm and Charles and wife Renae Ress of Hutchinson; daughter, Lois and husband David Stevenson of Zumbro Falls; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, John Felber of Mankato; sisters, Marcella Bierman of North Mankato, Mary Schmidt of Mankato and Marguerite and husband Harvey Akkerson of Sauk Rapids; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley Ress; brothers, Mitchel Felber, Joseph Felber, Leo Felber and Francis Felber.

Adeline Theissen
Adeline Theissen, 86, Saint Paul, formerly of St. James, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at Health East Care Center in Saint Paul. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, on Thursday, Sept. 9, at 10:30 a.m. The Clergy was Father Jim Berning and Sister Lucille Hass, with interment at Calvary Cemetery in St. James. Adeline Crumlett was born Jan. 24, 1918, in St. Paul, the daughter of Anna Felber. She attended school in Sleepy Eye, graduating from St. Mary's High School. On May 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to Alex Theissen in Sleepy Eye. Adeline spent most of her adult life in St. James and was a member of St. James Catholic Church. She love music, writing and poetry. She was affectionately known by the nickname of "Sunshine."
She is survived by her daughter, Mitzi Theissen of St. Paul; sons, Steve Theissen and wife Pam of Eagle River, Alaska and Mike Theissen and wife Jean of Denver, Colo.; two grandchildren; and several friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex and her mother, Anna.

Merrill R. Krienke
Merrill R. Krienke, 85, Sleepy Eye, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at Sleepy Eye Care Center. Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye, Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and at Faith United Methodist Church, Sleepy Eye, on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held at Faith United Methodist Church on Thursday, Sept. 23, 10:30 a.m., with interment in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye. Merrill was born Nov. 22, 1918, in Home Township, Brown County, the son of Henry and Alma (Rosenau) Krienke. Merrill married Ione Sampson on Aug. 20, 1941, on the Krienke Home farm near Sleepy Eye. The couple lived and farmed on the Krienke home farm their entire lives. In 1976, Merrill publicly received Christ at a Lowell Lundstrom Crusade in Sleepy Eye. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye. Merrill enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and playing cards, but mostly he enjoyed farming. He also enjoyed traveling and had gone to Israel twice and many other locations including Alaska.
He is survived by sons, Norman and wife Shirley Krienke of Sleepy Eye, Paul and wife Mary Krienke of Sleepy Eye, Lee and wife Sandi Krienke of Etowah, N.C., and Alan and wife Pam Krienke of Sleepy Eye; grandchildren, Beth and husband James Klein, Aaron Krienke, Rebecca Anderson, Josh Anderson, Sarah Krienke, Rachel Price, Terry Price, Naomi Krienke, Grace and husband Abe Stopani, Martha Krienke, Caleb Krienke, Noah Krienke, Hosanna Krienke, Kimberlee and husband Bruce Jost, Erica and husband Jason Smith, Faith and husband Derek Jensen and James Krienke; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Lauren, Morgan, Cassidy and Tremaine, Jessah, Ella and Colton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Ione.

Harold "Sonny" Jones
Harold "Sonny" Lloyd Jones, Jr., 68, Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at Gil-Mor Manor Nursing Home in Morgan. Friends may call on the family at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye, on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral services will be held at Sturm Funeral Home on Saturday, Sept. 25, 11 a.m., with interment in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye. Harold was born on Aug. 1, 1936, in Redwood Falls, the son of Harold F. and Iva "Lillian" (Hammond) Jones. Sonny worked for various farmers in the area, as a mechanic and at Reich's Trucking in Mankato. He also worked for Schieffert Farms in Sleepy Eye.
Survivors include his daughters, Lynn Jones of Alaska and Amy Bachmeyer of Mankato; son, Michael Jones of Ohio; grandchildren, Rueben and Stephanie of Alaska and Nythainlle of Mankato; special friends, Tim and Melanie Schieffert of Sleepy Eye; siblings, Lois, Frank, Evelyn, Helen, Fred, Edward, William, Mary, Francis, Robert, Donald and Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David in infancy; and sisters Emma and Florence "Katie."

Delores A. Sellner
Delores A. (Landkammer) Sellner, 62, Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at Divine Providence Community Home, Sleepy Eye. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, on Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements were with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Delores Anne Elizabeth was born March 22, 1942, in Springfield, the daughter of Leo John and Fern Opal (Smith) Landkammer. She grew up and attended school in Springfield. Delores married Raymond Sellner on March 29, 1958, in Sleepy Eye. The couple made their home in Sleepy Eye and Delores worked at Pietrus Produce and later as a cook at the L & L Cafe and Eddie C's. Delores was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. She enjoyed cooking, baking, doing puzzle books and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her special friends. Survivors include her children, Deborah and husband Willis Booze of Bingham Lake, Chandra and husband Mark Krenz of Sleepy Eye, Douglas and friend Tammy Mosher of St. Peter and Stacy and husband Jeff Walter of Granite Falls; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Don and wife Maryann of Waseca, Dick and wife Ruthann of Glencoe, Loren and wife Leeann of Glencoe, Steve and wife Peggy of Pensacola, Fla., Roman and wife Kathy of Sleepy Eye and Marvin of Waseca; and sister, Marlene Balk of Waseca. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lois Henrichs; and great-granddaughter, Alexa Konz.
