Wallace S. Helget
Wallace Sylvester Helget, 65, Morgan, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at Gil-Mor Manor. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Oct. 4, 11 a.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Morgan, with burial in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were with Nelson-Martin Funeral Service, Morgan.
Wallace was born June 30, 1939, in Sleepy Eye, the son of Wendlin and Veronica (Fisher) Helget. He resided with his parents on a farm in Eden Township and attended schools in Sleepy Eye. On Aug. 30, 1961, Wallace was united in marriage with Ethel Hillesheim at St. Michael's Church in Gaylord. Together, they farmed in Eden Township near Morgan. Wallace served in the National Guard and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. His hobbies included farming, gardening, hunting and fishing. Wallace enjoyed being with his family and listening to old-time music.
Wallace is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ethel, of rural Morgan and children, Jeff and wife Betty of Hoffman, Brian and friend, Kelly of Crystal, Wally and wife, Jodi of Wind Lake, Wis., Keith and special friend Laura of Morgan, Joe of Morgan and Jenny Brandt and husband, Beau of Balaton. Also surviving are grandchildren, Kara Helget, Kailee Helget, Chelsey Helget, Waylon Helget and Brian Joseph "Joey" Helget; brother, Lester and wife Ruth Helget of Sleepy Eye; and sister, Phyllis and husband Ron Sellner of Kasota. Wallace was preceded in death by his parents.

Denis Francis Goblirsch
Denis Francis Goblirsch, 60, passed away Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at his home. Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 8, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, TAFB Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
Denis was born April 10, 1944, in Sleepy Eye, the son of Frank and Clara (Sellner) Goblirsch. Denis was married to Mary Lynn Halverson on Aug. 10, 1991, at St. Francis Assisi Parish, TAFB Chapel. Mary preceded him in death on July 19, 2004, after he had cared for her many years. Denis graduated from St. Mary's High School in Sleepy Eye. He received his BA degree from St. John's University, Collegeville. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service as a M/SGT, in 1989. Besides being based at several Air Force bases in the United States, he was stationed in Turkey, Thailand and Johnson Island in the Pacific Theatre.
Denis is survived by his brother, Rev. Robert P. Goblirsch of Ortonville; sisters, Sister Bertille Goblirsch OSB of Duluth and Alice and husband Harold Dorn of Middleton, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Adele Goblirsch and Agnes Goblirsch, both of Sleepy Eye; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; brothers, Edwin Goblirsch, Eugene Goblirsch and Gerald Goblirsch in infancy.

Lucille Hansen
Lucille (Krebs) Hansen, 83, Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at Sleepy Eye Care Center. Funeral Services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye, on Tuesday, Oct. 12, with Pastor Ron Freimark officiating. Interment was in Home Cemetery. Arrangements were with Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye. E-mail condolences may be sent to the family via www.sturmfh.com.
Lucille Emily Martha Krebs was born to Herman and Bertha (Arndt) Krebs July 28, 1921, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. She was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on April 14, 1935. Lucy married James Devere Hansen from Evan, on June 23, 1943, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Springfield. Three children were born to this union - Michael, Jean and Richard. Lucy graduated from Anoka Vocational Technical Institute in 1975. She pursued this career, including teaching Food Service techniques in the Vo-tech System. Attractive presentation of good tasting food was a life-long characteristic of Lucy's. She was a member of the Bible Study group at Trinity Lutheran Church, a member of the Trinity Quilters, served on Trinity's Altar Guild and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, baking, cooking, canning and was a very avid reader. Lucy was very gifted at working with children with special needs and was also very devoted to her two sisters.
Lucille is survived by her three children, Michael Hansen and wife Candyce of Pflugerville, Tex., Jean Hansen Roberts and husband Lonnie of Orlando, Fla. and Richard Hansen and fiancee Penny of Sleepy Eye. She is also survived by grandchildren, Tamara Hansen Bieri and husband Eric of Austin, Tex., Jennifer Roberts Chisholm of Orlando, Fla., Lorraine (Lori) Hansen of Austin, Tex., Benjamin Roberts and wife Charisse of Orlando, Fla. and Angela Hansen of Sleepy Eye; great-grandchildren, Goeffrey Alexander Chisholm II, Andrew Roberts, Paige Roberts and Kayla Roberts; sisters, Eleanor Thuer of Sleepy Eye and Ora Dell Fischer of Sleepy Eye; brother-in-law, Willis Hansen and wife Arlene of Cannon Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and brothers, Elmer Krebs and Donald Krebs.

Darrell L. Hier
Darrell L. Hier, 73, Clear Lake, Iowa, went home to his Lord on Saturday Oct. 9, 2004, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18, at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N 4th St., Clear Lake, with Reverend Derik Yarian officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Clear Lake V.F.W. Visitation will be Sunday, Oct.17, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N 4th St, Clear Lake, Iowa. Internment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Sleepy Eye, on Friday, Oct. 22 at 11 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the Darrell Hier Memorial Fund.
Darrell was born Sept. 9, 1931, to La Forest and Ada (Evenson) Hier, in Springfield. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1949. After graduation, he attended Mankato State College for one year, enlisted in the Navy, spending most of that time in the Panama Canal Zone. Following his discharge from the Navy he attended the University of Minnesota, graduating with a degree in industrial engineering in December 1959. Upon his graduation from college he became the general supervisor for Del Monte Packing Company in Arlington, Wis. Darrell received a $2,000 reward from the Del Monte Packing Corporation for his cost-saving suggestion of brine use.' Darrell retired in 1989. In May of 1960, Darrell married Marion Sellner in the St. Mary's Rectory in Sleepy Eye. They made their home in Portage, Wis. Darrell and Marion were both honored as outstanding citizens of Portage. In cooperation with the Portage Police Department, they started the Teddy Bear Program for abused children and were instrumental in initiating finger printing for children's safety. Darrell was financial chairman for the United Methodist Church in Portage for 40 years, as well as many other leadership programs in the church. Darrell was active in sports and an avid bowler. Marion died in a car accident in December 1996. Darrell married Elizabeth von Fischer Martin on March 18, 2000. Darrell was a blessing to all, especially his wife and children. He never refused a request to help out where there was a need. He was active in the Noon Lions Club, SALT, a member of the Clear Lake VFW and Senior Center Vice President. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake. He participated in the Senior Choir, Elderberries, a financial Counter assistant, Wednesday Morning Bible Breakfast and the Men's Night Bible Study Group. Darrell loved to play golf, You could find him out there, even in the rain. His greatest joy was becoming a father and grandfather. He spent many happy hours attending family celebrations and grandchildren's activities. Darrell enjoyed his animal friends and they will miss his attention. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Darrell is survived by his wife Elizabeth Betty Hier of Clear Lake; children, Tim (Sherry) Becker of Mason City, Iowa; Cynthia (Randy) Reid and Dan (Julie) Becker, all of Clear Lake; brothers, Percy (Marjorie) Hier of Bettendorf, Iowa and Rev. Dennis (Jan) Hier of Willmar; sister, Dorothy (Gene) Ostrom of Rochester; grandchildren, Ben, Emily and Zach Becker, Jacob, Elizabeth and Elijah Reid and Eric, Megan and Leah Becker; nieces and nephews, David (Sandy) Hier; Kathy Hier; Karna (Michael) Loyland; Sarah (Geoffrey) Nelson; Nate (Rachel) Hier; Chris (Tim) Cass; and Karis Hier; his first wife's sister, Lorraine Roiger of Sleepy Eye; her children, Christi (Phil) Hanson and their daughter Erica, Vicki (Russ) Schroepfer and their foster sons, Bobby, Mike and others. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife and infant grandson Joshua Reid.

Bernice R. Mutch-Wittrock
Bernice R. Mutch-Wittrock, 79, Mesa, Ariz., formerly of North Mankato, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Banner Baywood Hospital in Mesa, Ariz. Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, North Mankato, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Rev. Peter Nosbush officiated the ceremony.
Bernice was born July 16, 1925, in Sleepy Eye, to John H. and Theckla M. (Ruffing) Kotten. She graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1943. She was united in marriage to Harold Mutch on Jan. 15, 1948, in Sleepy Eye. Bernice and Harold raised seven children and farmed in Belgrade Township until 1969. In 1970, they purchased Mutch Northside Hardware Store, where Bernice was bookkeeper and co-owner with her husband. She and her husband retired in 1980. Harold died on Oct. 20, 1986. Bernice was united in marriage to Lawrence Wittrock on Jan. 29, 1993, in North Mankato, he died July 15, 2004, in Mesa, Ariz. Bernice was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, Mesa, Ariz. and a former member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato. She was a former member of the Holy Rosary C.C.W. and a former grade school catechism teacher. She enjoyed playing cards, walking, sewing, remembering birthdays and anniversaries and spending time with family and friends.
Bernice is survived by her children, Suzan M. (Jon) Aronson of Georgetown, Tex., David L. (Sandy) Mutch of North Mankato, Lynda E. Mutch and husband, Bob Garaghty of Leesburg, Fla., Nancy K. (Dr. Paul) Huepenbecker of Verona, Wis. and Jennet E. (Rev. Kevin) Kosberg of Anthem, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Viola (Art) Watkins of Comfrey and Marie Jones of Owatonna; brothers, Ivan Kotten of Sleepy Eye and Sylvester (Mary Ann) Kotten of Sleepy Eye; step-children, Rick (Stacy) Wittrock, Patty (Robert) Mollenhauer, Mary (David) Wiebusch; five step-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold; second husband, Lawrence; children, Glenn and Patricia in 1971.

Alice Domeier
Alice Domeier, 79, New Ulm, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Sleepy Eye Care Center, Sleepy Eye. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 2, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm, with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Alice Margaret Schimschock was born May 26, 1925, in Sleepy Eye, the daughter of John and Mary (Weiss) Schimschock. She married William F. Domeier on Jan. 18, 1947, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, biking, birds, family, friends and neighbors. She had volunteered her time in the gift shop at New Ulm Medical Center and had helped deliver "Meals on Wheels." She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Aid Society. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be given to New Ulm Area Catholic Schools or St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.
Alice is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Sue Domeier of Brooklyn Park, and Jane and Dave Brown of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Karen Domeier of rural New Ulm, Larry and Karen Domeier of New Ulm and William C. Domeier and Suzanne Marx of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Mark Domeier and his wife, Michelle, Kim Bauer and her husband, Rich, Angie James and her husband, Cory, Mandy Domeier, Nicholas Domeier, Emily Domeier and William W. Domeier; great-grandchildren, Jayna Domeier and Ethan Domeier; sister, Sally Zwach of New Ulm; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerome and Joni Schimschock of Sleepy Eye and Eugene and Phyllis Schimschock of Chaska. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William F. Domeier on Aug. 12, 1985; daughter, Carol Domeier; son, John Domeier; and brothers, Ray Schimschock, Jim Schimschock and Mel Schimschock.

Thea Abrahamson
Thea Abrahamson, 99, died Aug. 3, 2004, at Nancy's Comfort Kare, rural St. Peter. There will be a private family graveside service in Greenwood Cemetery, rural New Sweden, at a later date. St. Peter Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Thea was born Jan. 13, 1905, in New Sweden, to Peter and Marie (Nielsen) Hansen. She was united in marriage to Chester Abrahamson on Aug. 25, 1922, at Norseland Lutheran Church in Norseland. They farmed in the Bernadotte area, moving to St. Peter in 1957. Thea worked for St. Peter Community Hospital as a nurses aid and retired in the early 1970s.
Thea is survived by her daughter, Doris Mattson, St. Peter; son, Dale Abrahamson of Sleepy Eye; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
