Chester Wetzel, 78, of Le Center and a former resident of New Ulm, died, Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at the Grandview Good Samaritan Center in St. Peter.
Services will be held on Friday, Jan. 14 at the Le Center Funeral Home in Le Center. Burial will be at the Mound Cemetery in Le Sueur.
Visitation will be from 9 - 11 a.m. at the church.
Chester was born to Walter and Esther (Gronseth) Wetzel on May 22, 1926. He attended country school near Waterville, Minn. On February 8, 1949, Chester married Annette Lang in Le Center. Chester made his living by farming and selling used cars. He enjoyed farming and visiting with friends. Chester was a member of AA for 50 years. He was very instrumental in the Le Center Club as a founding member and a sponsor to many people.
Chester is survived by his wife, Annette; four children, Mike Wetzel of Henderson, Steve (Kathy) Wetzel of Le Center, Chris Wetzel of St. Peter and Lori (Brian) O'Malley of Le Center; 11 grandchildren, Lance (Jeni) Wetzel, Cody, Ben and Jake Wetzel, Ryan (Holly) O'Malley, Tim and Dan O'Malley; Stephanie (Rick) Anderley, Tiffany (Brent) Wieberdenk, and Josh and Jesse Wieland; and 5 great-grandchildren, Brooke and Jake Anderely, Mason and Carter O'Malley and Trever Wieberdenk.
He was preceded in death by, his parents, two brothers, Earl P. and Warren Wetzel and a daughter, Linda Marie Wetzel, in infancy.

Clarence H. Becker, 96, of Morgan, died Saturday, Jan, 15, 2005, at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 24, at he Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Morgan. Private burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church.
Arrangements are with the Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Morgan.
He is survived by sons, Perry of Morgan and Jim of Fairfax; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold of Turtle Lake, Wis.
He was born Feb. 6, 1908, in Clements to Frederick and Anna (Hesse) Becker.

Adela Belz, 87 of rural Henderson, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005 at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center.
Services are 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 20, at St. John Lutheran Church in Arlington Township, burial will be in in Mound Cemetery in Le Sueur at about 2 p.m.
Visitation will be on Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of service at church.
Arrangements are with Kolden Funeral Service in Arlington.
She is survived by a son, Carl Belz Jr. of Henderson, and one granddaughter.
She was born March 22, 1917, in Jessenland Township, Sibley County, to Henry and Emma (Karnitz) Eibs.

Laura R. Boettcher, 86, of Blue Earth, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at 1:30 p.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Elmore, with Vicar Dale Kohrs officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Elmore Township.
Visitation time will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street, in Blue Earth, and one hour prior to services at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.com
She was born March 9, 1918 at Elmore township the daughter of Francis and Sophia (Ehrich) Klatt. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church of Elmore Township. She attended country school in Section 10, in Elmore Township, and also attended high school at Blue Earth through the ninth grade. On Nov. 30, 1939 she married Gerhard W. Boettcher at St. John's Lutheran Church, Elmore Township. To this union were born three children. Laura was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Laura and Gerhard celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in November and were delighted with the many cards they received from the card shower. Laura and Gerhard enjoyed going to their winter home in Florida for 35 years. She spent countless hours putting jigsaw puzzles together. Laura enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Gerhard of Blue Earth, daughters, Janice and her husband Steven Ripley of Blue Earth; Karen and her husband Douglas Paape of Courtland, MN; four grandchildren, six step grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Luella Boettcher of Blue Earth and Mavis Boettcher of Blue Earth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son Gerald, three sisters: Geneva Vogt, Helen Fuchs and Selma Mensing; six brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.

Elizabeth Corcoran, 88, of New Ulm died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Funeral arrangements are pending with Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.

Reuben Kroeger, 83, of New Ulm died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Arrangements are pending with Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.

Ruth E. Schmid, 81, of the Garden Terrace Apartments in New Ulm, died Sunday, January 16, 2005 at her home.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, January, 19, at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Donald Sutton officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Tuesday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Wednesday.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Samuel Schmid, a resident of the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Gloria Schmid of rural New Ulm; grandchildren, Michelle Schmid and her special friend, Brian Tessmer both of Buffalo, Ryan Schmid and his wife, Jen of New Ulm, Nathan Schmid and his special friend, Lesley Ihle both of Mankato; great-grandchildren, Karson and Morgan; a sister, LaVern Lowinski of Naples, Florida; a brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Dolores Schiller of New Ulm; and by nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Dean R. Schmid on March 3, 1968; brothers, Alton and Melvin Schiller; and by a sister, Pearl Rengsdorf.
Ruth Ella Schiller was born October 20, 1923, in Courtland Township, Nicollet County, to Joseph and Dina (Becker) Schiller. She attended country school and was a graduate of New Ulm High School. Ruth was united in marriage with Samuel B. Schmid on September 24, 1946 at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Ruth worked for Kraft Foods in New Ulm for 23 years until she retired in 1982. After her retirement, they moved to a home on Lake Winnibigosh and then back to New Ulm in 1994. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family, golfing, bowling and fishing. She was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
In lieu of flowers, the Schmid family prefers memorials to the donor's choice.

Harold Starke, 80, of Belgrade Township, North Mankato, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.
Funeral Service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with Pastor Luke Myslik officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Thursday.
Harold is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elsie Starke of Belgrade Township; daughters and sons-in-law, Lavonne and Larry Bratsch of Belle Plaine and Rhonda and Jim Viaene of Mankato; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and LuJean Starke of North Mankato and Bruce and Barbara Starke of Mankato; 14 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Melvin Baumgard of Vernon Center, Bernice Truebenbach of Mankato, Vivian and Don Westphal of Howard Lake, and Marlys and Jerome Peters of North Mankato; and by a brother and sister-in-law, Emil and Marion Starke Jr. of Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruth Brandes; a brother, Harvey Starke; and by two brothers-in-law, Leonard Brandes and Lawrence Truebenbach.
Harold was born on Jan. 23, 1924 in North Mankato to Emil Sr. and Minnie (Bublitz) Starke. On Aug. 31, 1949, he married Elsie Truebenbach at Decoria Township. He farmed his entire life in Belgrade Township. He served for six years as an Elder at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet and was an active member in church. He enjoyed farming, playing cards, listening to old Tyme music, and spending time with his family.

Eleanora Graff, 87, of Springfield, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at St. John Lutheran Home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 2, at Lamberton Church of Christ with burial at Lamberton Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 1 and 7:30-8:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 2 at Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Survivors include a son, Michael Graff of Springfield; three grandchildren; a sister, Elsie Schiller of Springfield; and a brother, Donald Streich of Tennessee.
She was born Sept. 2, 1917 in Springfield, to Herman and Ida (Engel) Streich.

Leo Jandl, 88, of Fairfax, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, De. 3, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 -8 p.m. with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6 p.m. at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the Church on Friday.
Arrangements are with the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax.

Kristina Nielsen, 41, of Pelican Rapids, formerly of Lafayette and New Ulm, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2004, due to injuries from a car accident near Moorhead.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, with burial at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Larson Funeral Home in Pelican Rapids is handling arrangements.
She is survived by her children, David Boesch of Nicollet, Kenneth Gitter, Stephanie Gitter, and Chelsea Gitter, all of Pelican Rapids, and Daniel Henning of New Ulm; a grandchild; brothers, Jack Seaver and Dan Seaver of Minneapolis, Dale Koehler and Timothy Koehler of New Ulm; and a sister Susan Fahey of Christine, N.D.
Kristina Marie Nielsen was born June 2, 1963 in Shakopee, Minn., to Chester and Eileen Nielsen.

Frances A. Schumacher, age 95, of Sleepy Eye, died on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at Sleepy Eye Medical Center.
Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye on Wednesday from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Visitation will continue at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs on Wednesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Service will be held at Church of the Japanese Martyrs, Leavenworth on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004 at 11 a.m., with interment Japanese Martyrs Cemetery.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. E-mail condolences may be sent to the family via www.sturmfh.com.
Frances was born on April 6, 1909, in Racine, Wis., the daughter of John and Anna (Nehrn) Poss. She married Benjamin M. Schumacher on May 21, 1929, in Ashton, Iowa. They lived and farmed for 36 years on the home place. They moved to a new site in 1965 and later moved to Countryside Apartments in 1993. Frances was a member of Church of the Japanese Martyrs and was active in many church related activities, receiving several awards for her involvement. In her younger years she also enjoyed helping entertain at Divine Providence. Playing games with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was a great joy for her, as was entertaining visitors to her home. Other interests and talents included sewing, gardening, painting and writing.
Survivors include daughter, Doris Johnson of Roseville; son, Clifford and Bernette of Sleepy Eye; daughter-in-law, Lenora Schumacher of Sleepy Eye; son, Sylvan and Donna Schumacher of Sleepy Eye; son, Gene and Marguerite of Emily; daughter-in-law, Carol Schumacher of Sleepy Eye; son, Bernard and Kathy of Warba; daughter, Susan and Jeff Pelzel of Sleepy Eye; 32 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and sister, Rose Windschitl of Leavenworth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben; sons, Robert, Marvin, Jack; son-in-law, Robert Johnson; two great-grandsons; four brothers; and two sisters.

Raymond 'Ray' J. Wellner, 103, of Fairfax, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at the Fairfax Community Home.
Funeral services will be 11a.m., Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 58 p.m, on Thursday and 7:308:30 a.m., on Friday, at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Friday.

Percy O. Alfred, 92, of 1127 North Washington in New Ulm. died Tuesday, November 30, 2004, at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
A private family service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, December 3, at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial at a later date in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3 - 7 p.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, LaVonne and Larry Christensen of Sleepy Eye, Helen and Bob Vogel, Joni and Dave Ahlness, all of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law, Mel and Dianne Alfred of New Ulm, Myron and Judy Alfred of Florence, Montana; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and Willard Gluth of New Ulm; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Irene Alfred of Cornelius, Oregon, Imelda and Raymond Havemeier of New Ulm, and Pearl Alfred of Roselle, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irene Alfred on January 18, 1981; sister, Mary Pitzner; brothers, Albert, Robert, Arthur, Edward, Harry and Charles Alfred; and a great-grandson, Adam John Wandler.
Percy Oliver Alfred was born on October 16, 1912, in Stark Township, Brown County, to Henry A. and Frances (ShingShang) Alfred. On October 4, 1940, he married Irene Knapp at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. They farmed from 1944 to 1950 in Leavenworth Township and from 1950 to 1975 they farmed in Milford Township. They then moved to New Ulm. He enjoyed his yardwork and gardening.
