Marvin Battig passed away on Nov. 28, 2004 in Phoenix, Ariz.
Marv was born April 15, 1929 in Sleepy Eye, Minn., to Fred and Rose Battig. He attended District 19 in Brown County, joined the Army in 1951 and served two years. He attended flight school in Tulsa, Okla., and was an all rated Commercial Pilot. He married Donna Current in 1955 and they resided in Brookings, S.D., where they owned an operated Battig Aviation until his retirement in 1977.
Marv is survived by his sister, Muriel of Longmont, Colo., his former wife Donna of Prescott, Ariz., his daughter Barbara of San Francisco, Calif., his daughter and son-in law, Merry and Greg of Portland, Ore,. and his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Nancy of Phoenix, Ariz., He is also survived by his grandchildren, Paul, Katie and James, Dan, Sam Tim, Johannah and Elizabeth.
A private service was held in Phoenix, Ariz., on Dec. 1, 2004.

Helen Berg, 92, of Wabasso, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at Sunwood Care Center, Redwood Falls.
Services are 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 9, at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wabasso with burial in Crestlawn Gardens, rural Redwood Falls.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with a 7 p.m. prayer service and Thursday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by a daughter, Jackie Butler of Huron, S.D.; four grandsons, two granddaughters, and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was born Sept. 4, 1912, in Clements to Gustave and Clara (Prokosch) Backer.

Justine 'Jessie" Palmer, 94, of Woodland Acres Nursing Home in Brainerd, formerly of St. George, died on December 5, 2004.
Services will be at the St. George Catholic Church, St. George, on Friday, Dec. 0, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the St. George Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, on Thursday, Dec. 9, from 4 ­7 p.m. and Friday from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Friday. There will be a parish prayer service at 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Berghold Memorial Fund, New Ulm Diocese.

Rose Carlson-Petersen, 88, of Darfur, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Funeral services are 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 8, at the St. John Lutheran Home Chapel in Springfield with burial at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Darfur.
Visitation is Wednesday, Dec. 8 from 11:30 a.m. until time of services at St. John Lutheran Home Chapel. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Baier-Goodrow of Springfield; sons, Duane Carlson of St. James, and Virgil Carlson of Faribault; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Sawatzky of St. James, and Inez Skjervold of St. James.
Rosetta "Rose" Violet (Carlson) Petersen was born May 18, 1916 in Adrian Township, Watonwan County, to August and Emma (Goltz) Haseman.

Justine 'Jessie' Palmer, 94, of Woodland Acres Nursing Home in Brainerd, formerly of St. George, died on December 5, 2004.

Justine is survived by her six children, Carol Crust of Brainerd; Verna Ingrassia of Monroe, Connecticut; Janyce Dickerson of Southbury, Connecticut; Ann Manzo of Sandy Hook, Connecticut; Leo Palmer of Lorain, Ohio and John Palmer of Warner Robins, Georgia; a sister Cal Verna Wilfahrt of New Ulm; and a brother Robert of Portland, Oregon; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Justine was preceded in death by her husband Maurice (Max) Palmer on December 5, 1997; her parents; John and Helena Volz; sisters, Winifred Brandel and Flavia Volz; and by brothers Tony, Mathew, George, Lawrence, Andy, Linus, Fred and Sylvester.
Justine was born, March 16, 1910, in West Newton Township to John and Helena Volz.
She attended District 15 Grade School, St. George Catholic School and Good Council Academy of Mankato. She married Maurice Palmer on January 3, 1933. They farmed in West Newton Township until l953 when they moved to Connecticut. They moved to Florida in 1969 and lived in Boca Raton until l980 when they moved back to Minnesota and lived in the Brainerd area. Justine was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd. When Jessie lived in the St. George area, she was a charter member of the Women's Catholic Order of Foresters and worked actively with their drill team. She also served as an adult leader for the West Newton 4-H Club. She was well known as the "Stationery Lady" and held many of the annual gatherings of the Minnesota Stationery Decorating Group at her home in Brainerd. She often shared her talent with local organizations and both Scout troops and school classes. She participated in her stationery decorating hobby for more than 40 years and corresponded with numerous stationery decorators in the United States, Canada and many foreign countries.
The family prefers memorials to the Berghold Memorial Fund, New Ulm Diocese, 1400 6th North St., New Ulm, MN 56073.

Norma C. Diehn, 89, of Arlington, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004 at the Gaylord Lakeview Home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Arlington with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kolden Funeral Home, Arlington and Tuesday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her children, Darleen Harens of Lakeville, Diana Barfknecht of Tucson, Ariz. and David Diehn of Arlington; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two great, great grandsons.
She was born Oct. 3, 1915 in Rockland, Idaho to Albert and Annie (Bielke) Comnick.

Orry J. Ranniger, 79, of Golden Valley, formerly of Sleepy Eye and Springfield, died Dec. 8, 2004.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 13, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 7520 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley, MN.
Visitation one hour before services at the church.
Orry is survived by his wife Ethel; a daughter, Annette (Brian) Johnson, and grandson Seth. Brothers Earl (Adeline), Donald (Clara), Willard (Wanda). Sisters-in-law Emma Ranniger, and Ruth Brandt, nieces, nephews and friends.
Orry was born January 25, 1925 in Carroll County, Iowa, to John and Henrietta (Paesler) Ranniger. On June 3,1956, he was united in marriage to Ethel Beltz, at Trinity Lutheran in Sleepy Eye.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Merle, and Robert.

Karen E. Gagen, nee Johnson, died in Kailua on Friday, November 19, at 9 p.m.
She was born on March 23, 1938, in New Ulm, Minnesota.
Karen graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1962 and completed a Master's Degree in Education from the University of N. Michigan in 1970. Karen worked as a Food Technologist and Nutritional Specialist for the Pillsbury Company in Minneapolis and worked for the US Agency for International Development in Adana, Turkey. She was a former County Extension Agent at the University of Nebraska, an Account Representative in Chicago, IL at Continental Cablevision and HBO Time Warner, and an Administrative Manager at the Xerox Corporation in Chicago. More recently Karen was the publisher of The Sun Scandinavia USA News, which was distributed throughout the United States for 11 years beginning in 1990. Karen helped support the launching of the Scandinavian Channel in the U.S., and she was a very active member of the Scandinavian Community in Chicago, Denver and many other cities in the U.S. She was a former member of the Board of Advisors for the Center for Scandinavian Studies at North Park University. Karen was also a former board member on the Jefferson County 4-H Advisory Council and concerned with the social and nutritional development of young people in Colorado.
The family conducted a memorial service for her on November 27 at Kailua Beach, Hawaii and in Evergreen, Colorado on December 11.
There will be a service in Minneapolis on Saturday, December 18. The service begins at 1 p.m. at the Nativity Lutheran Church, located at 3312 Silver Lake Rd. N.E., St Anthony, Minnesota. There will be a reception beginning at 3 p.m. at the John P Murzyn Hall, 530 Mill Street NE in Columbia Heights.
Karen requested no flowers and suggested that any memorials be sent to the Center for Scandinavian Studies, Attn: Mr. Charles Peterson, North Park University, 3225 W. Foster, Chicago, IL 60625.
Karen is survived by sister, Dorothy Gifford; brothers, Merton Johnson and Ray Johnson with his wife Marlys; husband, Jim Gagen; daughter, Jennifer Gagen; son, Bill Gagen, with his wife Lisa and their children Sonja, Eric, and Connor. Contact Jim Gagen at 303-670-6578 for more information.

Delores A. Revier, 80, of Redwood Falls, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004 at the Redwood Area Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls, with burial to follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16 at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Friday one hour prior to service time.

Lucille (Mrs. Roy) Sandmann, 87 of Morgan, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004 at Gil Mor Manor in Morgan.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, at Morgan United Methodist Church with burial at Eden Methodist Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, at Morgan United Methodist Church, and continues for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
Survivors include daughters, Ramona Vestman of Denver, Colo., Jean and husband Curtis Christensen of Morgan, Sally and husband Mervin (Butch) Kerkhoff of Redwood Falls, and Janet and husband Ron Stokesbary of St. Louis Park; a son, Lee and wife Denise Sandmann of St. Croix Falls, Wis.; 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Lucille Florence Sandmann was born May 14, 1917 in Prairieville Township, Brown County to Emil and Emma (Siebel) Rose.

Gladys Anderson, 94, of Belview, formerly of Springfield, died Dec. 12, 2004 at Parkview Home, Belview.
Services are 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 15, at Grace Lutheran Church, Belview.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Redwood Valley Funeral Home, Redwood Falls and Wednesday at the church, one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Springfield City Cemetery.
Redwood Valley Funeral Home, Redwood Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Irvin H. Plaisance, 85, New Ulm, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004 at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with Fr. Edward Ardolf celebrating. Burial with full military honors conducted by the Central Veterans Association of Faribault will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in Faribault.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm. A parish prayer service is scheduled for 5 Tuesday at the funeral home.
Irvin Herbert Plaisance, the son of Hector and Adell (Jeno) Plaisance, was born January 31, 1919 near Faribault. He attended Owatonna Schools, graduating from Owatonna High School in 1939. Irv was united in marriage to Betty Trusty February 22, 1941 in Owatonna. He entered the United States Army in 1942. Following his honorable discharge in 1945, the couple made their home in Claremont and Owatonna before moving to New Ulm in 1953. He worked for the former Coast to Coast Store and joined Kraft Foods in 1955. His wife died March 19, 1971. Irv married Marguerite Ringnell July 29, 1972 in New Ulm. After retiring from Kraft in 1981, they continued to make their home in New Ulm. Marguerite died November 23, 2003. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. Irv was a past member of the Twist and Twirl Square Dance Club and enjoyed time spent with family and friends, camping, traveling, hunting and fishing. He was the neighborhood handyman and was known for his storytelling. Irv became a resident of the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia in 2002.
Survivors include sons, Jim Plaisance and his wife Vicky of Onamia, Donnie Plaisance and his wife Sharon of Elizabethtown, KY, Jack Plaisance and his wife Kathy of Frederick, MD; twin daughters, Patti Schuett and her husband Paul of St. James, Pam Fischer and her husband John of Junction City, KS; stepchildren, Leslie Ringnell and his wife Everal of New Ulm, Douglas Ringnell and his wife Virginia of Sherburn, Jean Horner and her husband Jerry of Harlingen, TX; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; sister-in-law,Blanche Johnson of Owatonna; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald.
