Warren Meyer, 71, of New Ulm, died Tuesday, October 5, 2004, from cancer at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 9, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. Burial will be in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldiers Rest Section. Full military honors will be conducted at the Cemetery by the New Ulm Veterans Organizations.
Warren is survived by his wife, Yvonne "Vonnie" (Mickelson/Meder) Meyer of New Ulm; a stepson, Jeffrey Meder of Hastings; sisters and brother-in-law; Lucille Christensen of Glencoe, Eleanor Marti and Georgine Portner both of New Ulm, and a twin sister, Margaret Lang and her husband, Leo, of Springfield; brothers and sister-in-law, Bill Meyer of Reno, Nevada and Herman Meyer and his wife, Mary Lou, of Pipestone; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by brothers, Fred, Bennard and Robert Meyer.
Warren Anton Meyer, the son of Anton and Margaret (Richert) Meyer was born on July 2, 1933, in Pocahontas, Iowa. He moved to Minnesota with his family in 1937. Warren attended St. Mary's Catholic School in New Ulm and at the age of seventeen he enlisted in the military. He served with the Service Company #135 Infantry Regiment, 47th Infantry Division during the Korean War. On June 23, 1978 he was united in marriage to Vonnie (Mickelson) Meder in Gibbon. After marriage they lived in New Ulm. Warren worked for the City Meat Market in New Ulm for twenty years . For the past thirty-four years he has worked for the Central Livestock Association in St. Paul as a field rep, where he was still employed part time.
Warren was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm, a former member and past president of the New Ulm Country Club, a past member of Turner Hall, a current member of the Seifert-Bianchi American Legion Post #132 in New Ulm and the Deer Hunters Association. He was well known in the community as an avid mushroom hunter, a hunter, and a fisherman. His love in life was spending time with his poodle "Spinner," watching T.V., especially the Minnesota Vikings, cooking, and playing cards.

Irma M. Wager, 98, of New Ulm. died Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 9, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery, Father John A. Richter will celebrate the mass.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Friday, and 7:30-10 a.m., Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Friday at the Cathedral. The St. Elizabeth's Catholic Aid Society will pray the rosary at 6 p.m., and there will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Irma is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Delores Klement of Gibbon, Carol and Robert Holm of New Ulm, Elaine Osheeran of Tucson, Arizona; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances Fesenmaier of New Ulm; sisters-in-law, Dolores Fisch of New Ulm and Margaret Fisch of Fort Collins, Colorado; a brother-in-law, Fred "Fritz" Taylor of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben Wager on January 3, 1994; sons-in-law, Frank Klement, John Osheeran; sisters, Ellen Swanson her twin sister, Leona Hanson, Alice Taylor; and by brothers, Louis Fisch and Frank Fisch Jr..
Irma Marie Fisch was born August 20, 1906, in New Ulm to Frank and Mary (Macho) Fisch. She attended District 14 School in Milford Township and then Holy Trinity School in New Ulm. She married Ben Wager on September 16, 1930, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they farmed in West Newton Township, Nicollet County. She worked on the farm with her husband until going to work for Webcore in New Ulm in 1953. She also worked at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Irma volunteered her time with the Red Cross Blood Mobile for many years. She enjoyed dancing and playing cards. Irma was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, St. Elizabeth's Catholic Aid, Christian Mothers Society and the New Ulm Golden Age Club.

Elinor Wolf, 99, of New Ulm, died Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 9, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Rev. Wayne Laitinen officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
Elinor Lydia Vomhof, the daughter of Martin and Emma (Meyer) Vomhof, was born December 20, 1904, in rural Goodhue, MN. After her mother's death when Elinor was eleven days old, she was raised for five years by her Aunt Meta Eppen until her father re-married Ernestine Lange. Elinor was confirmed in 1918 at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue. She was united in marriage to Waldemar Wolf October 14, 1931 at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue. The family lived in rural Minot, ND, rural Goodhue, MN, and rural Red Wing, MN before moving to New Ulm in 1954. Elinor worked at Pat's Cleaners and Dr. Martin Luther College Food Service before retiring in 1969. Waldemar died January 20, 1985.
She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, and was active in the Ladies Aid and the quilting group.
Survivors include her daughter, Nyla Wille and her husband Lawrence of Morristown, MN; grandchildren, Paul Thiede and his wife Marie of New Ulm, Robin Wille of Minneapolis, MN, Sarah Wille and her husband Michael Kneer of Shoreview, MN; great-grandchildren, Emma and Liam Kneer of Shoreview, MN; and step-great-grandchildren, Timothy and Amanda Waibel of New Ulm
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Waldemar; son, Marlin Wolf, in infancy; daughter, Beatrice Thiede; brother, Erwin Vomhof; son-in-law, Roland "Benny" Thiede; and sister-in-law, Pearl Vomhof.
Memorials are preferred to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church Building Fund.

Elnora Davis, 91, of Lake Crystal, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Hillcrest Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 9, at First United Methodist Church in Lake Crystal with Rev. Kaye Brandt officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Lake Crystal.
Lake Crystal Mortuary is handling arrangements.
Elnora was born Jan. 29, 1913, on a farm near Searles to William and Esther (Backer) Hamann.
Elnora is survived by her two sons, Oryle (JoAnn) Davis of Medford, James (Shirley) Davis of Mankato; eight grandchildren, Deborah Ward of Jacksonville, FL, Bruce (Char) Davis Montgomery, Steve (Amanda) Davis of Glencoe, John (Kari) Davis of Chanhassen, Becky (James) Schriener of Sauk Centre and Nancy (Todd) Trautman, Tami (George) Wullschleger and Bob (Michelle) Davis of North Mankato; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded death by her husband Virgil and 10 siblings.

Marion Stella (Walter) Lentz, 77, of Clements, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Seasons Hospice in Redwood Falls.
Funeral service is 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 9, at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. Burial will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Clements.
Visitation is 9-10 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.
Survivors include sons, Rick of Rochester, Gary of Rochester, and Alan of Redwood Falls; daughter, Maralee Drellack of Alexandria; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and brother, Dennis Walter of Farmington.
Marion Stella Lentz was born August 31, 1927, in Gibbon, to Michael and Emma (Gupzke) Walter.

Virgil Nelson, 77, of rural Winthrop, died Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 9, at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop with Pastor Paul C. Tessmer officiating. Burial will be in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Saturday.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
Virgil is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Elaine Nelson of Winthrop; daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Dale Olson of North Oaks, Joyce and Gary Schuette of Minnetonka, and Ruth and Jim Bauer of Winthrop; sons and daughter-in-law, Ken Nelson of Minneapolis, and John and Cindy Nelson of New Ulm; his grandchildren, Stephanie and Megan Bauer, Alex and Michael Nelson, and Danny and Katie Olson; a sister, Myrtle Gustafson of Winthrop; brothers and a sister-in-law, Vincent Nelson of Longmont, Colorado, and Victor and Karen Nelson of Norco, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Donald Gustafson; and a sister-in-law, Beverly Nelson.
Virgil Kenneth Nelson was born on October 8, 1926, in New Ulm, to Algot and Della (Isenberg) Nelson. On September 27, 1948, he married Elaine Tomaschko at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. After marriage, he farmed near Winthrop until 1956. He then moved with his family to Austin and New Ulm where he was an investment salesman for two years. Upon moving his family back to his home farm near Winthrop, he was a delivery driver for Midland L.P. Gas Company until an accident necessitated a career change. He attended Mankato Commercial College and earned an accounting degree. He put that degree to work as a bookkeeper for the Farmers Co-op in Lafayette for several years. He then worked as a job developer both in Le Sueur for several years and in New Ulm for nineteen years before he retired in 1993. During his employment in New Ulm, he was involved with the New Ulm Chamber of Commerce. Virgil loved gardening, especially gladiolas; watching sports; and reading. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and visiting with friends at morning coffee.

Mayme Fischer, 97, of Springfield died on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004 at New Ulm Medical Center Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church In Springfield on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004 at 2 p.m. The Clergy will be Pastor Carl Seamon. Interment will be at the Springfield City Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 from 5 to 8 p.m. and will continue on Sunday at St. John Lutheran Church in Springfield from 1 to 2 p.m.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.

Mayme was born on June 16, 1907 in Burnstown Township, the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Colburn) Anderson. She graduated from Springfield High School and then attended Mankato Commercial College. Mayme married Peter Fischer on Feb. 16, 1943 in Portland, Oregon. She worked as a bookkeeper at Altermatt Merchantile in Springfield and later she and Peter owned the Ben Franklin Store. Mayme was a Sunday school teacher, a life time member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the church choir, Luther League, Leah Circle, Birthday Card Club, Hospital Auxiliary and St. John's Home Auxiliary. She loved bookkeeping, enjoyed her family and playing cards.
Mayme died on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004 at the New Ulm Medical Center Hospital at the age of 97 years.
She is survived by her brother, Rudy Anderson of Morgan, sister, Evelyn Wolter and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Peter Fischer; brothers, Tom, Gust, John, Emil, and sisters, Clara Anderson, Helen Anderson, Myrtle Swenson, and Lena in infancy.

Bernice Hanson, 100, of Fairfax, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at the Fairfax Community Home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at Central Lutheran Church in Fairfax.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at the Central Lutheran Church of Fairfax, and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Arrangements are with Hughes Funeral Home.
Bernice is survived by her daughter Lillian Finstad of Geneva, Ohio; sons: Everett Hanson of Fairfax, and Lawrence "Larry" Hanson of Fairfax; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; asister Palma Sievertson of Minneapolis.
Bernice Myrtle Hanson was born April 29, 1904, on the Larson Homestead in Camp Township, Renville County, Minnesota, to Peder and Oline (Boyum) Larson.

Sharon K. Ziegler, 59 of Green Isle died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Green Isle. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington and Monday, one hour prior to service at the church.
She is survived by her husband, Donald of Green Isle; sons, Brent of Green Isle, Scott of Hutchinson and Jeffrey Ziegler of Green Isle; one grandson; a brother, Dennis Sandberg of Maple Lake.
Sharon was born Aug. 7, 1945 in Moline, Ill. to Elmore and Evona (Pattyn) Sandberg.

Lucille Hansen, 83, of Sleepy Eye, died on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 at Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye.
Services are 10: 30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery.
She was born on July 28, 1921 in Springfield to Herman and Bertha (Arndt) Krebs.
She is survived by her children, Michael Hansen of Pflugerville, Texas, Jean Hansen Roberts of Orlando, Fla., and Richard Hansen of Sleepy Eye; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Eleanor Thuer and Ora Dell Fischer, both of Sleepy Eye.
