Eldora L. Hagevold, 81 of Fairfax, Minn., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 16, at Central Lutheran Church in Camp Twp., Renville Co. Interment will be in Hauges Cemetery in Camp Twp., Renville Co.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday and from 7:30 ­ 8:30 a.m., on Saturday at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Saturday.
Eldora Litha (Kirkeby) Hagevold was born October 5, 1923, in Devils Lake, N.D. She was the daughter of Julius "Red" and Ethel (Lorentzen) Kirkeby.
Eldora was united in marriage with Orlo K. Hagevold on November 26, 1955, at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. The couple made their home and farmed in Camp Twp.
Eldora was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orlo on December 12, 1982; daughter, Shirley Hagevold on October 27, 1990; son, Kenneth "Scoop" Hagevold on June 2, 2002; sister, Arline Kern; brothers, Galen and Wayne Kirkeby and a great-grandchild, Dylan Lee Mock.
Eldora is survived by her daughter, Sandy Kokesch and her husband, Randy of Stewart, ; grandchildren, Travis Bowers of Shreveport, La., Taner Haala and his wife, Heather of Fairfax, Wade Hagevold and his wife, Katie of Winthrop, Tanya Sellner of Baldwin, Wis., Tara Kokesch of Stewart, Dana Kodet and Tyler Kodet of Fairfax, great-grandchildren, Justin and Jordan Bowers of Shreveport, La., Brittney and Ty Haala of Fairfax, and Kaitlyn Hagevold of Winthrop; sister, Margie Krokum of Devils Lake, N.D., sister-in-law, Mercedes "Marcy" Lubbe of Minneapolis, and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Patricia Thoms, 61, of Sleepy Eye, died on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at Gil-Mor Manor Nursing Home in Morgan.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 16, at Faith United Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye. Burial will be in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye
Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Friday, at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye and continues 9:30-10:30 a.m., Saturday at the church.
She is survived by her husband Richard "Dick" Thoms of Sleepy Eye; sons, Scott Thoms of Mankato, Steve Thoms of Novato, Calif.; mother, Val Schanus of New Ulm; brothers, Paul Schanus of New Ulm, Roger Schanus of Eden Prairie; and sister, Evelyn Kurr of Eden Prairie.
She was born on April 21, 1943, in Sleepy Eye, to Ray and Valeria (Tauer) Schanus.

Eleanor Mabel Thorn, 92, of New Ulm and formerly of New Jersey, died Tuesday, October 12, 2004, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with Pastor Hank Campbell and Pastor Danielle Berg officiating.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Methodist Church Cemetery in Springfield, N.J.
The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
Eleanor is survived by her son, Richard Thorn and his wife, Patricia of Lunenburg, Massachusetts and Kenneth Thorn and his wife, Maryann of New Ulm; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; sisters, Jeanette Gertloff and her husband, William, of Florida and Verda Small of Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard, in 1986, and by several brothers and sisters.
Eleanor was born on June 14, 1912, in Irvington, N.J., to Erwin and Blanch (Wolf) Houck. On April 19, 1933, she married Richard Gordon Thorn in New Jersey. In 1982, she and her husband moved to New Ulm. Following her husband's death in 1986, she continued to live in her apartment until December of 1999 when she became a resident of the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Eleanor was a member of the United Church of Christ. In the past she had been very active in the New Ulm Senior Citizens and the Jolly Bunch.

Harold C. Kuester, 88, of 1505 South Franklin Street in New Ulm died Thursday, October 14, 2004 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2004 at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Timothy Smith officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm. Full Military Honors will be conducted at the Cemetery by the New Ulm Veteran's Organizations. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday and from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Monday.
Harold is survived by his wife, Helen Kuester of New Ulm; son and daughter-in-law, Lance and Judy Kuester of Arvada, Colorado; granddaughters, Jada Inman and her husband, Kevin of Boise, Idaho, Rachel Kuester of Coon Rapids; a great granddaughter, Brenna Inman; a sister Florence Beilke of Morgan; a brother-in-law, Willard Beilke of Fairfax; many nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Marion Melzer, Dorothy and Herb Schaper all of New Ulm, and Joan Wegner of Marshalltown, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, William Schroeder; sisters, Mildred Beilke, and Mabel Reinhart; and brothers-in-law, Ruben Beilke, Walter Reinhart and Alton Melzer.
Harold Carl Kuester was born on December 31, 1915 in New Ulm to Carl and Martha (Guse) Kuester. He attended parochial school, D.M.L.C. and New Ulm Public Schools and graduated in 1935. In 1940 he joined the 215th National Guard in New Ulm and served three years in Alaska and then served two years in the U.S. Army in Germany with Counter Intelligence during WWII. On September 14, 1946 he married Helen Schapekahm at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. After marriage he worked at the New Ulm Greenhouse for ten years and then worked for thirty years at Kraft Foods in New Ulm. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm and sang in the Men's Choir and Adult Choir. He was active in church committees and served on the church council. Harold was a member of the Seifert-Bianchi American Legion Post # 132 in New Ulm.

Marie Rubischko, 85, of New Ulm died Saturday, October 16, 2004 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Father John A. Richter celebrating. Burial will be in the St. Wilibrord's Catholic Cemetery in Gibbon.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Marie is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Richard Hellendrung of Fairfax and Monica and Robert Buboltz of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Joan Rubischko of New Ulm and Steven and Grace Rubischko of Gibbon; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Ben Hoffmann of New Ulm; a brother-in-law, Vernon Bieraugel of New Ulm; a sister-in-law, Marcella Rubischko of Fairfax; and a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law, Ted and Patricia Rubischko of New Ulm. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Frank Rubischko on March 29, 1993; a daughter, Mary Renae in infancy; a great granddaughter, Ariana; sisters, Rose Adam, Sister Mary Grace Penkert, and Arlene Bieraugel; and by brothers, Elmer and Walter Penkert.
Marie Marcella Penkert was born on August 25, 1919 in New Ulm to Otto and Frances (Warta) Penkert. She graduated from the Holy Trinity Catholic School in New Ulm. Marie then worked as a telephone operator at the New Ulm Telephone Company before getting married to Frank Rubischko on October 18, 1944 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Marie enjoyed gardening, fishing, baking, bingo, cards, traveling, and her lake home on Lake Allie. She loved her family, grandchildren, and friends at Sunset Apartments.
She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.

Clarence W. Hillger, 96, of Redwood Falls, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.
Services are 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 20, at First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery on Wednesday morning.
Visitation is 5-7:30 p.m., Tuesday and Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls; and continues one hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
He is survived by wife Cornelia Hillger of Redwood Falls; children, Jean Church of Littleton, Colo., Charles Hillger of Eden Prairie; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
He was born Feb. 18, 1908, in Morgan, to William and Emma (Dittbenner) Hillger.

Rick Williams, 45, of rural New Ulm, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements are pending with Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, New Ulm.

Jose Carmona, 31, of Sleepy Eye, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, in a motor vehicle accident near Sleepy Eye.
Funeral arrangements are pending with the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye.

Floyd L. Glaesemann, 70, of St. Paul, died Oct. 17, 2004, in Roseville, Minn.
Memorial service is 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 21, at St. Stephanus Lutheran Church, 739 Lafond at Grotto, St. Paul.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Ft. Snelling.
Arrangements are handled by by the Cremation Society of Minnesota.
He is survived by his wife, Marion; children, Curtis Glaesemann, Julie Anker, Robert Chapman, Jackie Yernberg and Darlene Kennedy; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Elaine Gudmunsen and Annabell Hoof.
He was born June 9, 1934, in rural Nicollet County to Raymond and Rosella (Fehlman) Glaesemann.

Jose Moreno Carmona, 31, of Sleepy Eye, formerly of Worthington, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, as the result of a auto accident near Sleepy Eye.
Service will be 3 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 21, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Sleepy Eye
Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye on Thursday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
Jose was born on April 11, 1973, in Mexico the son of Rafael Carmona, Sr. and Marie DeLourdes Moreno.
Survivors include his wife Ruby Carmona of Sleepy Eye; his father, Rafael Carmona of Sleepy Eye; brothers, Rafael Carmona of Comfrey, and Ricardo Carmona of St. Paul; and a sister, Juana C. DeMora of Sleepy Eye.

Orion C. Frank, 86, of Fairfax, passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2004, at the Fairfax Community Nursing Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 21, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 ­ 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Thursday. There will be a Parish Prayer service at 7 p.m., on Wednesday night at the funeral chapel.
Orion Cecilia (Ruona) Frank was born October 8, 1918, in Cairo Twp., Renville Co., Minn. She was the daughter of Ernest and Emma (Pudas) Ruona. She graduated from Fairfax High School in 1937 and continued her education at the University of Minnesota.
Orion was baptized into the Catholic Church before being united in marriage with Anthony Frank on November 19, 1941, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. The couple resided in rural Fairfax until 1958, when they moved into town. They shared 35 years of marriage before Anthony passed away on March 20, 1977. Orion entered the Fairfax Community Home on May 22, 1997.
As a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Orion was active, in the past, with St. Ann's Aid. She loved spending time with her family and she enjoyed being involved at the Fairfax Community Home by participating in all the activities that she could.
Orion was a real "people person." When she wasn't at home with her family, she gave generously of her time as a dedicated volunteer in her community. She was a member of the Fairfax Lioness Club, the Fairfax Legion Auxiliary Post 205, the nursing home auxiliary and the Ft. Ridgely Historical Society.
Orion served as a den mother for all aspects of scouting, she was a 4-H counselor and advisor and she volunteered with the Head Start program. She was the site manager and delivered meals for the Meals on Wheels program and was a co-founder and charter member of the Fairfax Depot Association.
After serving 12 years on the Fairfax School Board, Orion was elected outstanding school board member by the Minnesota School Board Association in 1984. She was elected the first woman mayor of Fairfax from 1984-1988. She was named Renville County Queen in 1993.
Orion was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Leora Donahue and brothers, Arthur and John Ruona.
Orion is survived by her: children, John (Darla) Frank of Spring Grove, Betty Schultz of Sleepy Eye, Ruth Clark of Robbinsdale, Mary Lou (Ken Larson) Frank of Minnetonka, Joseph Frank of Fairfax, Bill (Deb) Frank of Isanti, Rosemary Pellowski of Robbinsdale, Fred Frank of Robbinsdale and Victoria (Gerald) Ittner of Minneapolis; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a sister-in-law, Joann Ruona of rural Fairfax; a cousin, Lila Nesburg of rural Fairfax and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Melvin H. Irlbeck, 80, of Morgan, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at the Valley View Manor in Lamberton.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation begins with a rosary at 8:45 a.m. Thursday and continues until time of service.
Arrangements are handled by Nelson-Martin Funeral Service of Morgan.
He is survived by daughter, Mary Buckley of Redwood Falls; and three grandchildren.
He was born Aug. 12, 1924, in Morgan, to Frank and Caroline (Gewerth) Irlbeck.

SLEEPY EYE -- Stella C. Rathman, 93,of Sleepy Eye, formerly of Comfrey, died on Monday, October 18, 2004, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye, MN
Service will be held at Divine Providence Community Home Chapel on Thursday, October 21, at 11 a.m. The clergy will be Fr. Brian Oestreich. Interment St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery in Comfrey.
Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye on Wednesday, Oct. 20, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and at Divine Providence Community Home Chapel on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. E-mail condolences may be sent to the family via www.sturmfh.com.
Survivors include her children, Aleda Mathiowetz of St. Paul, James and wife Rosemary Rathman of Comfrey, Mary Meyer of Sleepy Eye, Richard and wife Betty Rathman of Albert Lea, 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Emelia Hammerschmidt of Villa Maria in Sleepy Eye; and sisters-in-law, Eleanor Rose Fischer of Sleepy Eye, Agnes McLendon of Texas and Tena Rathman of Olivia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Norbert; sisters, Elizabeth Hammerschmidt Kenservik, Adela Helget Klucas, Jeanette Forster, Theresa Tauer; brother, Michael Sturm II; son, Daniel Michael Rathman, grandchildren, Ann Mathiowetz, Lisa Rathman, Paul and Cheryl Rhodes and Jason Meyer.
Stella Catherine was born on June 6, 1911, in Springfield, Minn., the daughter of Michael, Sr. and Elizabeth (Roiger) Sturm. She grew up and attended school in Springfield. Stella married Norbert Rathman on Feb. 7, 1934, in Springfield, Minn. Stella and Norbert farmed from 1934 until 1965 ten miles east of Comfrey and then moved to Sleepy Eye. She worked nights at Divine Providence for many years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Stella enjoyed quilting, cards, fishing and baking for her family. Family get togethers were her favorite times.
