Elsworth 'Speedy' Bartels, 88, of Glencoe, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at the Heritage House in Gaylord.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Monday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe. Burial is in the First Lutheran Cemetery in Glencoe with military honors by Glencoe VFW Post 5102.
Visitation is 5:-8 p.m., Sunday and from noon to 2: p.m., Monday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Memorials are preferred.
Arrangements by Dobratz-Hantge Chapel in Hutchinson.
He is survived by his wife, Doloris of Glencoe; sons, Bruce Bartels of Annandale, Don Bartels of Chaska, James Bartels of New Ulm; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Hildegard Kiecker, 89, of Hopkins, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minn.
There will be a prayer service Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax, with a visitation one hour prior to services at the chapel.
Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Cairo Township.

Mabel 'Mae' Pauling, 96 of Lamberton, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004 at Valley View Manor in Lamberton.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton with burial at the Lamberton Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31 and Monday, Nov. 1 from 7:30-9:00 a.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton, and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church.
Survivors include a son, Weber of Shoreview; daughters, Bonnie Johnson of Revere, LaDonna Bishir of South Haven, and Sandra Sharpof Orr; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a sister. Elsie Mews of Dearborn, Mich.
Mabel 'Mae' Emma Anna Pauling was born March 2, 1908 in Paullina, Iowa, to William and Anna (Koch) Klunder.

Hilda Adams, 93, of Springfield, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at St. John Lutheran Home, Springfield.
Arrangements are pending with the Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield.

Patrick Roiger, 53, of Dassel, Died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church in Darwin. Interment will be held at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel. There will be a Parish Prayer service held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Monday. There will be a one hour visitation prior to the service on Tuesday at the Church.
Pat is survived by his wife, Kim of Dassel; sons, Randy Roiger of Watertown, Shawn Roiger of Waconia, Steven Willenbring of Dassel, and Marcus Arvenson of Dassel; a daughter, Shannon Leone of Watertown, his mother, Marie Roiger of Buffalo Lake; brothers, Dave Roiger of Lake Lillian, Curt Roiger of Buffalo Lake; sisters, Laura Roiger of Denver, Colo., Cheryl Ewer of Bismarck, N.D., and Yvonne Anderson of Chisago City.
Patrick Leon Roiger was born Nov. 3, 1950, in Springfield to Glen and Marie (Sellner) Roiger.

Steven J. Olson, age 53 of St. James died on Tuesday while delivering on his mail route in rural St. James.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at 11:00 am at the Augustana Lutheran Church in St. James with Pastor Ted Kunze officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James.
Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8 pm at the Pease Funeral Home in St. James and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Steven is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Wenisch and her husband, Jason and Nichole Olson and her special friend, Anthony Hutchins all of New Ulm and Jennifer Sandmeyer of Mankato; son Mathew Olson of Henderson; 5 grandchildren; brothers, Leland Olson and his wife, Sharon of St. James, Leon Olson and his wife, Vicki of Norwood-Young America, Marlin Olson and his wife, Diane of Comfrey and Mike Olson of Mankato; sister, Darlean Greeley and her husband, Melvin of Madelia and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special friends Bob and Alice Sandmeyer of St. James. Steven was preceded in death by his parents.
Steven was born on March 25, 1951 in St. James to Herman and Bernice Olson. He was a 1969 graduate of St. James High School. He had worked as a carpenter for some time and had worked for the St. James Post Office since 1979. Steven was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church in St. James and the St. James Eagles Club.

Ellsworth G. 'Speedy' Bartels, age 88 of Glencoe, Minn., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at the Heritage House in Gaylord, Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe, with interment in First Lutheran Cemetery in Glencoe.
Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004, and 12-2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, both at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe. There will be a 40/8 prayer service at 8 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Elsworth "Speedy" George Laurence Bartels was born on June 3, 1916, in Penn Township, McLeod County, Minn. He was the son of William and Ida (Arlt) Bartels. Speedy was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Penn Township, McLeod County, Minna. He received his education at county school District #64 and attended one year of high school in Brownton, Minn. As a young man, Speedy worked as a farmer, truck driver and went out west to work as a prospector panning for gold in California. On July 28, 1942, Speedy entered the United States Army and served his country during World War II in North Africa and India. He was awarded the American Theatre Service Ribbon, the European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Service Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. Speedy was honorably discharged on January 15, 1946.
On June 16, 1946, Speedy was united in marriage to Doloris Rennecke at Immanuel Lutheran Church Parsonage in Brownton. This marriage was blessed with three children. Speedy and Doloris resided in Penn Township, rural Brownton, until 1970, when they moved to Glencoe. They shared 58 years of marriage.
Speedy owned and operated a farm in rural Brownton until 1970. Speedy did cement finishing work at Ario Construction Mankato, until his retirement at age 65. After his retirement, he held employment at Vern's Ceramic Tile in Glencoe, was a currier for Security Bank & Trust in Glencoe.
Speedy was a past member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Penn Township, and a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe. He was a lifetime member of the Glencoe VFW Post # 5102,the Brownton American Legion Post # 143, and the Hutchinson 40/8. Speedy was a member and past treasurer of the Brownton School Board for nine years. He also belonged to the McLeod County Farmer's Union and the McLeod County DFL. He enjoyed gardening, boxing, ice fishing, taking walks and dancing with his wife, Doloris. Speedy especially enjoyed watching his sons and grandchildren in school activities and sports.
Speedy passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at the Heritage House in Gaylord, at the age of 88 years.

Speedy is survived by his: wife, Doloris of Glencoe; sons, Bruce Bartels of Annandale, MN, Don Bartels of Chaska, James Bartels and his wife, Konnie of New Ulm; grandchildren, Matthew Bartels of St. Louis Park, Andrew Bartels and his wife, Brenda of Belle Plaine, Sara Brown and her husband, David of Glencoe, Jason Bartels of Annandale, Adam Bartels of New Ulm, Abby Bartels of New Ulm, Jill Bartels of New Ulm; great grandchildren, Jasper Bartels, Madelynn Brown and Brooke Brown; a sister, Arlene Pinske and her husband, Edward "Pete" of Gaylord; sisters-in-law, Carol Bartels of Ironton, MN, Dorothy Bartels of Los Angeles, CA, Ann Bartels of St. Peter, MN; and many nieces, nephews, godchildren, other relatives and friends.
Speedy is preceded in death by his parents, William and Ida Bartels; a sister Malinda Glander; brothers, Elmer Bartels, Edwin Bartels, and Wilmar Bartels.

Lloyd S. Meinert, 89, of 917 1/2 South Payne Street in New Ulm died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.

Maynard M. Nelson, 76, of rural New Ulm died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at the St. John's Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 at the United Church of Christ in New Ulm. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Friday and 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
The family prefers memorials to Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm, the St. John's Lutheran Home in Springfield, or to Alzheimer's Research.

Thomas Kelly, 80, of Jeffers, formerly of Sanborn, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Center in Windom.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004 at LaCanne Family Funeral Service in Windom. Burial will be in Jeffers Cemetery.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service.

Leona Kruggel, 86 of Winthrop, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at Zion Lutheran Church in Winthrop. Burial will be in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 ­ 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Friday.
She is survived by her children, James Kruggel of Winthrop, Kathy Volkmann of Winthrop, and Dennis Kruggel of Shakopee; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Arlene Johnson of Lake Crystal.
Leona Emma Rosa (Gerland) Kruggel was born Dec. 15, 1917, in Sleepy Eye. She was the daughter of Henry and Rose (Schaefer) Gerland.

Anna V. Jasken, 81, of Arlington, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at Sibley Medical Center, Arlington.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Arlington, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Kolden Funeral Home, Arlington.
She is survived by her husband, Merlin of Arlington; children, Betty Peterson of Revillo, S.D.; Kathy Ficke of Lester Prairie; Rita Glieden of Hutchinson; John Jasken of Del Rio, Texas and Rich Jasken of Hutchinson; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Ceceilia Mimbach of Richmond.
She was born May 24, 1923 in Arlington to Edward and Elizabeth (Wewer) Kauffmann.

Marvin L. Garnhardt, 65, of Redwood Falls died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at the Redwood Area Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 4, at New Avon United Methodist Church, Redwood Falls with burial in Crestlawn Gardens, Redwood Falls.
He is survived by his wife, Esther of Redwood Falls; sons, Mike of Fort Ripley, Andy and Tim of Redwood Falls; Ben of Farmington; and a brother, Eugene of Clements.
He was born Aug. 17, 1939, in Three Lakes Township, Redwood County to Edward and Ruth (Quesenberry) Garnhardt.
Arrangements are handled by Nelson-Martin Funeral Service.
