Harry Lieder, 73, of 2201 N. Broadway, Lot 162, New Ulm, died Wednesday, September 8, 2004, at his home.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 11, at the United Church of Christ in New Ulm with Rev. Henry Campbell officiating. Burial with full military honors conducted by the New Ulm veterans organizations will follow at the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday. Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
Harry Albert Lieder, the son of Albert and Anna (Englbrecht) Lieder, was born April 4, 1931, in New Ulm, where he attended public schools. He married Gloria Kretsch on June 5, 1953, in New Ulm. Later that year, Harry entered the United States Army, serving in Korea. Following his honorable discharge in 1955, they made their home in New Ulm where he farmed. The family lived in Glencoe for twelve years where Harry worked as a welder, returning to New Ulm in 1977. He worked for Raygo Manufacturing as a welder until retiring in 1988. Harry was a member of the United Church of Christ and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria of New Ulm; sons, Gene Lieder of New Ulm, Gary Lieder and his wife Peggy of Chandler, AZ, Glen Lieder of Isle, Dennis Lieder and his wife Alice of New Ulm, Dale Lieder and his wife Shelly of Hutchinson; daughter, Cindy Weber of New Ulm; sixteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Harlan Lieder and his wife Amy of Hutchinson; sisters, Elaine Lieder of Lafayette, Marjorie Mickelson of Minnetonka; sisters-in-law, Esther Ericson of Hastings, Emily Bergmeier of Conway, AK; best friends, Wanda and Gene Litzau of Glencoe; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mabel Binder, 66, of rural St. George, died Wednesday, September 8, 2004, at the St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 13, at the St. George Catholic Church in St. George with Father John G. Berger celebrating the mass. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4- 8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Monday. The St. George C.C.W. will pray the rosary at 6:30 p.m., and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. both Sunday at the funeral home.
Mabel is survived by her husband, Bernard Binder of rural St. George; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Glen Butsko of Savannah, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Chris Binder of rural St. George; grandchildren, Kayla Butsko and Kyle Butsko; stepgrandchildren, Brittany Eckstrand and Colton Eckstrand; and a brother and sister-in-law, Reinhold and Janet Evenson of rural Gibbon.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mabel Clara Evenson was born on February 17, 1938, in New Ulm to Raymond and Viola (Grau) Evenson. She graduated from Gibbon High School. On October 26, 1957, she married Bernard Binder at St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon. After marriage they farmed in West Newton Township, Nicollet County. She enjoyed farm work, gardening, her cats and dogs. She had served at many church and society functions. Mabel was a member of the St. George Catholic Church and the St. George Council of Catholic Women.

Arla Buche, 63, of rural Battle Lake, formerly of Winthrop, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.
Service is 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 13, at Zion Lutheran Church of Amor, rural Battle Lake, with burial in Amor Cemetery of rural Battle Lake
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Sunday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home of Battle Lake.
She is survived by her husband Larry; son, Jeff Buche of Mesa, AZ; daughters, Cindy Gorr of Dalton, Julie Holte of Fergus Falls, Linda Herring of Lafayette; and one great-granddaughter.
She was born July 10, 1941, in Winthrop, to Clarence and Mabel (Gutknecht) Stresemann.

Delores Lamecker, 79 of Hutchinson, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2--4, at the Dassel Lakeside Nursing Home.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m., Monday at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. Burial is in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be Sunday 4 to 8 p.m. and Monday 8 to 9 a.m. at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson and continue one hour prior to services at the church.
There will be a CCW Rosary at 5 p.m. and parish prayers at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.

Russell Steffen, 83, of Lucan died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004 at his home.
Funeral services are 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lucan, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church with a prayer service at 7p.m., and continues one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.
Redwood Valley Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife Bernice; sons, Merlyn of Lucan, Dallas of Lucan, Wayne of LeCenter; nine grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

Harley Vogelpohl, 79, of New Ulm, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004 at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm with Rev. Thomas Henning officiating. Burial with full military honors conducted by the New Ulm Veterans Organizations will follow at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m. until the time of service Sunday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm.
Harley Edward Vogelpohl, the son of Elmer and Ida (Domeier) Vogelpohl, was born Jan. 13, 1925 in New Ulm where he attended St. Paul's Lutheran School. Harley entered the United States Army in 1943, serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to New Ulm where he began working as an LPN at Union Hospital. He worked at St. Francis Hospital in Miami from 1955 to 1957. Harley returned to New Ulm in 1957 and resumed work at Union Hospital. He later worked at Loretto Hospital and Highland Manor, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
Survivors include brothers, Ralph and Victor Vogelpohl of New Ulm; sister-in-law, Patricia Vogelpohl of Minneapolis; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Harley was preceded in death by a sister, Ramona Lindmeier; brothers, Donald and Norman Vogelpohl; and sisters-in-law, Beverly and Florence Vogelpohl.

Lucille Gatzlaff, 86, of Springfield, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at St. John Lutheran Home Chapel in Springfield. Interment will be at Christ Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield on Sunday, and will continue on Monday from noon to 1 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Home Chapel in Springfield.
Lucille Adeline Gatzlaff was born Jan. 27, 1918 in Portsmouth, IA, to Charlie and Hazel (Williams) Clausen.
She is survived by her son - Gary Gatzlaff of Plano, Texas; daughters, Gale Kluksdal of Marshall, and Becky Rasmussen of St. Peter; three grandchildren; a great grandchild; a brother, Bob Clausen of West Union, Iowa.

Bruce E. Mortenson. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Becker for Bruce E. Mortenson, age 45, of Becker, who died unexpectedly Thursday. Pastor Jon Anderson will officiate and burial will be at Snake River Cemetery in Becker Township.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Becker and one hour prior to the services Tuesday at the church.
Bruce was born Aug. 29, 1959 in Madison, MN to Russell & Adeline (Mamer) Mortenson. He married Wendy Lee Weed on Jan. 31, 1986 at Snake River Church in Becker Township. Bruce lived in the Becker area since 1985 and was a Meat Manager at Cub Foods in Buffalo. He loved the outdoors, helping people, and had a wonderful circle of friends.
Bruce enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, and spending time at the lake, but his greatest love of all was his wife and daughter.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Wendy; daughter, Tiffany; mother, Adeline Mortenson of Fairfax; sisters and brother, Cindy Mortenson (Silver Laar) of Hutchinson, Greg "George" (Sandy) Mortenson of Baudette, and Laurie Mortenson of Colorado Springs, CO; father in law & mother in law, Lou & Joyce Weed of Becker; sister in law, Marie (Steven) Duthler of Becker; many nieces and nephews, and a great circle of friends.
He is now in heaven with his father, Russell.

Jessie Miller, 98, of Winthrop, formerly of the Lafayette area, died Friday, September 10, 2004 at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center. Mrs. Miller has donated her remains to the Mayo Foundation, making a significant contribution to medical education at the Mayo Foundation. Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
Jessie Carlson, the daughter of John and Josephine (Bronelle) Carlson was born April 7, 1906 in Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County. At any early age, she moved from the family farm to Lafayette. After graduating from Mankato Normal State Teachers College, Jessie taught in many area schools. Her first position was in a one room schoolhouse in New Sweden. She then taught in Hanska, Lime Springs, IA, and Cresco, IA. She left teaching and worked in the accounting department of Pierce Company in Milwaukee, WI. Jessie was united in marriage to Irwin "Chuck" Miller in Chicago in 1954. The couple made their home in Chicago where Chuck was employed by the State of Illinois Accounting Services Department. Retiring in 1984, they moved to Clarkston, GA. Chuck died in July 1986. Jessie became a resident of the Lafayette Good Samaritan Center in 1996 and the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in October 2000.
Survivors include her brother, Wilton Carlson and his wife Marie of Winthrop; nephew, John Mielke and his wife Patricia of Stone Mountain, GA; niece, Marjorie Johnson and her husband Leland of Zelienople, PA; many grandnieces and grandnephews.
In addition to her parents, Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; brothers, Einar and Burton Carlson; sisters, Lenore Mielke, Arline Koch, and Marjorie Carlson in infancy.
Memorials are preferred to the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center.

Willard A. Palmer, age 81, of Madelia, died Thursday, September 9, 2004 at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Memorial Service 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Madelia, with Rev. Gene Anderson officiating.
Willard was born May 14, 1923 to Albert and Anna (Sackel) Palmer in Fairfax. He served his country during World War 11 in the European Theater with the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Marion Ehlers in 1948. He later married Margaret Binger. Willard was employed with Standard Oil in Fairfax and the Fairfax Municipal Light and Power Plant. He moved to Madelia in 1968 and was employed with the Madelia Municipal Light and Power Plant until retiring in 1988. He enjoyed polka music and dancing, fishing, and traveling.
He is survived by five children, Glenn Palmer of Palm Harbor, FL, Howard (Josefa) Palmer of Norfolk, VA, Randy (Kathy) Palmer of Lamar, CO, Rose Ann (Paul) Severson of Lake Crystal, Steven (Bobette) Palmer of Madelia; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two brothers; one sister; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Virgil; his first and second wives.

Donald Tiffany, 94, of Redwood Falls died on Sept. 10, 2004, in Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis.
Services will be Tuesday 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls, with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday 4-7 p.m. at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls, with a masonic service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church.

Hazel Dallmann, 82, formerly of the Nicollet area died Friday, September 10, 2004 at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with Pastor Ron Siemers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Wednesday.
Hazel is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Edwin Grimes of Dallas, Texas, Sharon and Douglas Fromm of Brooklyn Park, Barbara and Monte Smith of Dallas, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Sandy Dallmann of Hopkins; grandchildren, Susan Kuehn and her husband, Rick, Lori Burns and her husband, Ryan, Kristina Fromm, Nicole Sam and her husband, Titus, Justin Grimes and his wife, Devon, Jessica Lockrem and her husband, Zack, Matthew Dallmann, Sarah Dallmann, Carissa Smith, Megan Smith, Emily Smith; great grandchildren, Allison Kuehn, Jeremy Kuehn, Jordan Sam, and Kyan Burns; brother and sisters-in-law, Dennis and Ruth Ann Wills, and Agnes Wills all of Nicollet. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eldon Dallmann on December 14, 1999; a daughter, Jane Dallmann in infancy; and a brother, Norbert Wills.
Hazel Emma Wills was born on September 1, 1922 in Granby Township, Nicollet County to Fred and Olga (Enter) Wills. On September 24, 1941 she married Eldon G. Dallmann at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. They farmed in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County until 1980 when they retired. Since retirement they spent the winters in Texas and the summers back home in Minnesota. In 1997 they moved off the farm and moved to North Mankato. She moved to the twin cities in 2002 to be closer to her family. Hazel was baptized, confirmed and a life long member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet.

Dorothy M. Ress, 83, of New Ulm, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died on Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Arrangements are pending with Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye.

Visitation is 10-11 a.m., Tuesday at the church.

She is survived by sons, Michael and wife Carrie Ress of New Ulm, Charles and wife Renae Ress of Hutchinson; daughter, Lois and husband David Stevenson of Zumbro Falls; 11 grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; brother, John Felber of Mankato; sisters, Marcella Bierman of North Mankato, Mary Schmidt of Mankato, and Marguerite and husband Harvey Akkerson of Sauk Rapids; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Stanley Ress; and brothers, Mitchel, Joseph, Leo and Francis.
She as born Jan. 10, 1921, in Easton, Minn., to Frank Xavier and Mamie C. (Raboin) Felber. She received her education at the Catholic school in Easton. On Feb. 10, 1946, she married Stanley Jacob Ress in Easton. They made their home in Wells., Minn., until 1958, when they moved to Portage, Wis. In 1967, the moved to Sleepy Eye. Stanley died on March 16, 1986. In 1987, she moved to Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. She enjoyed cooking and canning. She was very active in her church. Her greatest joy was being a grandma.

Irmgard Breiling, 87, of 627 North Franklin Street, New Ulm, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at her home.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Rev. Jeffrey Bovee officiating. Burial will take place in Viroqua, Wis.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm and one hour prior to service at the church.
Irmgard Dorothea Breiling was born Jan. 3, 1917, to Arthur and Clara (Toepel) Pape in Manitowoc, Wis. She was baptized at First German Lutheran Church in 1917 and confirmed in 1931 after attending First German Lutheran School. She spent several years as an LPN at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago and in private practice as an infant nurse. On May 23, 1942, Irmgard married Pastor Edwin A. Breiling. Together they served congregations in Geneva, Neb., Randolph, Two Rivers, West Bend and Viroqua, Wis..
After her earthly battle with cancer and a brain tumor, she entered eternal glory at age 87 years nine months and 10 days.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; also her parents; four brothers, Waldemar, Gerhard, Adolph, Theodore; and two sisters, Clara Pape and Olivia Weyland.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Naomi and John Hardman of Ringle, Wis., Karen and Ronald Shilling, and Janet and Joel Fredrich of New Ulm.
She also leaves grandchildren, Jennifer and Aimee Hardman, Christopher Hardman and wife Denise, David Shilling and wife Laura, Deborah Peterson and husband Dan, Jeremy, Lisa and Rachel Fredrich and great-grandchildren Nicole and Neil Hardman, Joshua Shilling and Ella Peterson.
Other survivors include sisters and brothers-in-law, Esther Pape, Louise and Walter Otterstatter of Fond du Lac, Wis., Margaret Grube, Renata and Eugene Kitzerow of Manitowoc, Wis., and Cornelia Rude of Wauwatosa, Wis. plus many nieces and nephews.
Her body will be laid to rest in Viroqua, Wis. to await the Resurrection on the Last Day.
