Martha E. Schapekahm, 95, formerly of 823 North Jefferson Street in New Ulm, died Saturday, July 10, 2004 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 13 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm. Pastor Timothy Smith will officiate.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Monday and from 7:30 - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Tuesday.
Martha is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Naomi and William Schimmel of North Mankato, Judith and Harold Schroer of New Ulm, Ruth and Dean Bartsch of Brooklyn Center; sons and daughters-in-law, Reverend Gerhard and Lois Schapekahm of Wild Rose, Wisconsin, Richard and Marion Schapekahm and LeRoy and Carol Schapekahm all of New Ulm; twenty-eight grandchildren; sixty-three great-grandchildren; a great- great-grandson; sister, Ruth Krueger of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin; and a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Flori Seehusen of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Adolph Schapekahm; son and daughter-in-law, Bert and Darleen Schapekahm; great-grandson, Eric VanWinkle; sisters, Gertrude Kiecker, Arlene Leidheiser, Wilhelmena Seehusen; and a brother, Harold Seehusen.
Martha Elizabeth Seehusen was born on November 28, 1908 in Winfield Township, Renville County to Bertus and Anna (Schroer) Seehusen. She taught for two years at the Grace Lutheran School in Goodhue. On June 28, 1930 she married Adolph C. Schapekahm at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in New Ulm. She was a nurses aide for twelve years at the St. Alexander Home in New Ulm. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be given to donor's choice.

Mary Alexander, 79, of Redwood Falls, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at the Sunwood Care Center in Redwood Falls.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 15, at First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls, with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls, and will continue at the church one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her husband, David G. Alexander of Redwood Falls; a son, Paul of Vesta; a daughter, Sara Hepner of Sterling, Alaska; and four grandchildren.
She was born Aug. 6, 1925, in Todd County, Minnesota, to Clyde and Hattie (Wildman) Johnson.

Ruth Glende, 91, of New Ulm, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, July 15, at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Thomas Henning officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Thursday.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Arthur F. Glende of New Ulm; daughters, Naomi Schaetzke of Janesville and Rachel Scharlemann and her husband, Jon, of Redwood Falls; a son, Philip Glende and his wife, Kathy, of Columbus, Ohio; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great- grandchildren; a sister, Elsie Cloeter and her husband, Ottmar, of Faribault.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Emma (Preuss) Lorenz; two brothers, Herman and Walter Lorenz; and by a son-in-law, Marvin Schaetzke.
Ruth Glende was born on December 2, 1912, in rural Waterville. She was one of four children of Max and Emma Lorenz who farmed near Waterville. She was baptized by Pastor C. Albrecht of St. Peter Lutheran Church near Elysian. She received her elementary education in both the public and parochial schools, and after a thorough catechetical instruction was confirmed by Pastor C. Albrecht. In the fall of 1927 she enrolled at Dr. Martin Luther High School in New Ulm and graduated in the year 1931. She continued her college education at Dr. Martin Luther College and received her college diploma in the year 1934. Her first call into the teaching ministry took her to Bethlehem Lutheran School in Hortonville, Wisconsin where she taught for two years. In 1936 she received and accepted the call from Bethany Lutheran Congregation at Hustisford, Wisconsin. On August 2, 1938, she married Arthur Glende, a former college classmate who at this time was principal and upper grade teacher at Immanuel Lutheran School in North La Crosse, Wisconsin. It was here that Naomi, their first child, was born. In 1943 the family moved to Arlington in acceptance of a call from St. Paul's Congregation. While at Arlington Rachel and Philip were born. In 1955 the move was to New Ulm in answer to a call from St. Paul's Lutheran Congregation. During the time she was in New Ulm she participated in both the Ladies Choir, the Mixed Choir and was an active member of the Ladies' Circle and the Ladies' Aid. In 1960, because of the teacher shortage Ruth again was called into the teaching ministry by St. Paul's Congregation in New Ulm, where she taught in the primary grades until her retirement in 1973. Since then she has enjoyed her retirement, keeping active with her household duties and her hobby of working in her flower garden. Much of her leisure time was spent with her husband on many fishing outings.

Homer E. Gordon, 89, of Redwood Falls, died Saturday, July 10, 2004, at his home.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Redwood Falls. Burial with military honors will be in Crestlawn Gardens, rural Redwood Falls.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service, Redwood Falls and Wednesday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Aeikens of Ankeny, Iowa.
He was born Oct. 21, 1915, in Madelia to Sever B. and Tillie Amanda (Rindy) Gordon.
He served in the U.S. Army from July 1941 to October 1945.

Frieda Weissmann, 74, of 317 South Jefferson Street in New Ulm, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at her home.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 16, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with Pastor Timothy Smith officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm
Visitation is 5- 8 p.m., Thursday, and from 7:30-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Frieda is survived by her husband, Fritz Weissmann of New Ulm; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Klaus Huehn of Northfield; son and daughter-in-law, Peter Weissmann and Gretchen Van Hauer of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Peter Huehn, Sonja Huehn, Alexander Huehn, Samuel Weissmann and Soniya Weissmann.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Luise Mornhinweg; and a brother, Eugen Christ.
Frieda Christ was born on April 27, 1930, in Bondorf, Germany, to Johannes and Barbara (Wuensch) Christ. On August 30, 1952, she married Fritz Weissmann at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in New Ulm. She had worked at the Wear-Well Garment Factory in New Ulm and later worked as a cook for School District 88. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

Lois M. Ahrens, 86, of Redwood Falls, died July 13, 2004, at the Redwood Area Hospital in Redwood Falls.
Service is 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 17, at Cornerstone Christian Church in Redwood Falls, with burial in the Redwood falls Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Friday, at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls and will continue at the church one hour prior to the service
She is survived by sons, Clellan Ahrens of St. Cloud, Gary Ahrens of Morton; daughters; Joann Hopkins of Minneapolis, Mary Wetmore of Redwood Falls, Susan Rima of Redwood Falls; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Calvin Eckhart of Denver Colo., George Eckhart of Olivia; sister: Helen Panitzke of Redwood Falls.
She was born on Oct. 21, 1917, to George and Minnie (Mansfeldt) Eckhart.

Florence Bechner, 97, of New Ulm, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m., Friday, July 16, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Father Edward Ardolf will officiate.
Visitation will be 8:30 - 10:30 a.m., Friday, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
Florence is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Beth and Edwin Sehr of New Ulm; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Beverly Bechner of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred on November 30, 1989; sisters, Mary and Clara; and by brothers, Leonard, Harry, William and Joseph.
Florence Genevieve Connelly was born Dec. 3, 1906, in Hartford South Dakota, to Henry W. and Florence F. (Nelon) Connelly. She attended school in Hartford and was a graduate of Hartford High School. After graduation she worked for Interstate Power Company. Florence married Alfred Bechner on June 23, 1938 at the St. George Catholic Church in Hartford, South Dakota. After marriage they lived in New Ulm where she was a homemaker. She had been a resident of the Divine providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye for the past seven years.
Florence was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm, St. Mary Catholic Aid Society, American Legion Post 132 Auxiliary in New Ulm and the Gray Ladies at the Loretto Hospital.

Arline D. Buck, 71, of Lafayette, died Monday, July 12, 2004, at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN.
Funeral services are 1:30 p.m., Friday, July 16, at Bernadotte Lutheran Church in Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County, Minn. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Washington Lake Township, Sibley County.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Thursday and 7:30-11:30 a.m., Friday at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop; and continues one before services Friday at the church.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Buck of Lafayette; sons, Wayne Buck of Hutchinson, Jerry Buck of Glencoe, Roger Buck of Belle Plaine; daughters, Bonnie Callander of Winthrop, Kathy Buck of Fairfax; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Myrtle Buckentin of Isanti, Mary Zumberge of Minneapolis, Lorranie Pedersen of Hutchinson, Signe Smith of Norwood Young America, Bernice McDonald of Cumby, Texas, Ruth Hardel of Cosmos, Kenneth Pedersen of Crystal, Shirley Bowen of Hutchinson and Stanley Pedersen of Minnetonka.
Arline D. (Pedersen) Buck was born June 25, 1933 in Hamburg (Young America Township, Carver County,) Minn., to Soren and Ellen (Asp) Pedersen.

Ed Fromm, 58, of Sleepy Eye, Minn., died Monday, July 12, 2004, at Sleepy Eye Hospital after an eight-month courageous battle with cancer.
Service is 11 a.m., Friday, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye. The Clergy will be Fr. Brian Oestreich Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Sleepy Eye
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Thursday; and 7:30-10 a.m., Friday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a parish rosary service at 4:15 p.m, and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m., both Thursday at the funeral home.

Ed was born on July 10, 1946, in Sleepy Eye, Minn., the son of John and Agnes (Neid) Fromm. He grew up in Sleepy Eye and attended St. Mary's Catholic Schools. Ed married Kathy Gall on Feb. 13, 1965, at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda. He owned and operated Fromm Trucking in Sleepy Eye for the past 28 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Ed enjoyed doing TV Guide crossword puzzles, reading, going for walks, watching movies and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Fromm of Sleepy Eye, son, Dennis and wife Sharon Fromm of Sleepy Eye, daughters, Barb and husband Wade Rogotzke of Sanborn, Lisa and husband Todd Nickel of Melrose, Patti and husband Jeff Mickelson of Sleepy Eye; 10 grandchildren, Carter and Katelyn Fromm, Josh, Jesse and Jordan Rogotzke, Brady, Kaylee and Cody Nickel and Jonathon and Logan Mickelson; brothers, Ervin and wife Dignora of Sioux Falls,S.D., Dave and wife Jan of Eagle Lake, Clete and wife Dawn of Owatonna, Mike and wife Gail of Claremont, Mark and wife Rolene of St. Clair, Joel and wife Lois of New Ulm; sisters, Rose Fromm of Mankato, Doris and husband Leo Csukker of Fairfax, Carol and husband Mike Whitney of Mankato; sisters-in-law, Rosie Fromm of Sleepy Eye and Mary and husband Tom Hoffmann of Morgan; brother-in-law, Joe and wife Linda Gall of Mankato; many aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jerome and Eugene; sister, Joanne, sister-in-law, Judy Fromm; and infant grandson, Matthew Fromm.

Gust 'Bud' Goehl, 76, of Arlington, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at Sibley Medical Center in Arlington.
Services are 1:30 p.m., Sunday, July 18, at Peace Lutheran Church. Burial with military honors will be in the Arlington Public Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8:30 p.m., Saturday, at Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington and one hour before services Sunday at the church.
He is survived by wife, Audrey of Arlington; daughter, Diane Goethke of Arlington; two granddaughters; one great-grandson; and brother, Harold Goehl of Green Isle.
He was born June 30, 1928, in Arlington Township, to Gustave and Flora (Deterling) Goehl.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Thusnelda 'Susie' Meyer, 94, of Stewart, died Thursday, July 15, 2004, at the Hutchinson Community Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Saturday, July 17, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stewart, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

She is survived by her son Ron Meyer of Rochester, N.Y.; four grandchildren; brothers, Milton Leske of Brownton, Waldmar Leske of Minneapolis, and Eugene Leske of Minneapolis
Thusnelda Amanda Meyer was born Nov. 5, 1909, in Transit Township, Sibley County, Minn., to Albert and Amanda (Bulau) Leske.

Carol M. Muchow, 46, of Gaylord, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at her home.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 17, at St. John's Lutheran Church in (Mountville) rural Gaylord. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Friday and 7:30-8:30 a.m., Saturday at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord and continues one hour before the service Saturday at church. There will be a prayer service at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, Milo Muchow of Gaylord; son, Chad Muchow of St. Cloud; two grandchildren ; four step-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; mother, Mertle Mathews of Glencoe; siblings, Dottie Miner, of Winthrop, Larry Mathews, of Green Isle, Lynn Schmerbauch, of Gaylord, Dean Mathews of Glencoe, Julie Tuchtenhagen, of Winthrop, Jeannie Schmidt, of Owatonna and Sherry Henkelm of Glencoe.
She was born May 31, 1958, in Glencoe to Eldor and Mertle (Pinske) Mathews.
