Marvin Trocke, 81, of Arlington, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at Gaylord Lakeview Home.
The funeral service is 1 p.m., Sunday, July 18, at Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m., Saturday, at the church and continues one hour before services.
Arrangements are handled by Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Norwood Young America.

James Schleuder, 79, of 212 South Washington Street, New Ulm, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at his home.
Private family service will be held with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
James "Poik" Schleuder, the son of Otto and Meta (Macho) Schleuder, was born March 24, 1925, in New Ulm. After graduating from New Ulm High School in 1943, he entered the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge in April 1946, Jim returned to New Ulm where he married Sydney Schmucker May 6, 1946. Following their marriage, he worked for Universal Studios in Los Angeles for a short time before returning to New Ulm where he worked for the City Engineer's Office. He was a former manager of Turner Hall. He owned the former King Louie Restaurant and managed the Minnesota Steel & Drum plant in New Ulm prior to his retirement. His wife Sydney died June 16, 2004. He was a member of Turnverein, the American Legion, and the United States and Brown County Humane Societies.
Survivors include his daughters, Gayle Monson and her husband Dwayne of Nevis, Jamie Hutchins and her husband David of Shorewood; grandsons, Kirk Monson of Brooklyn Center, Neal Monson of Nevis; sister-in-law, Elsie Schroeck and her husband Jim of New Ulm; one niece and five nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Alan Schmucker and sister-in-law, Lynn Fawcett.
Memorials are preferred to the New Ulm Medical Center Hospice or the Brown County Humane Society.

Vernon Wendland, 78, of Lamberton, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at his home.
Service of remembrance is 11:30 a.m., Monday, July 19, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton.
Visitation is two hours before the service at the church.
Military honors will be conducted by Andrew Peterson American Legion Post No. 41.
Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton.
He is survived by wife Arlene of Lamberton children, Cheryl Johnson of Florida, Elona Graff of Minneapolis, Paulette Pietz of Arizona, Dan Wendland of Arizona, and Vickie Anderson of Arizona; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother Maynard (Mick) Wendland of Lamberton; and sisters, Iona Knoll of Aitkin, and Lydia Abbot of California.
Vernon Victor Wendland was born Jan. 23, 1926, in Cottonwood County, Minn., to Richard and Ida (Matzke) Wendland.
He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II.

Wilbert A. Baumann, 88, of West Newton Township, Nicollet County died Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11: 00 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2004 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Father Samuel Perez celebrating. Burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday and continue from 7:30-10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The St. Johns Court #698 Catholic Order of Foresters will pray the rosary at 6:30 p.m. and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. both Sunday at the funeral home.
Wilbert is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Thomas Berg of New Ulm; grandchildren, Colleen and Robert Skillings of New Ulm, Kirsten Berg of New Ulm, and T. Eric Berg of Minneapolis; great grandsons, Theodore Skillings and Michael Skillings of New Ulm; sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Jerry Bushore of Peoria, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Bernice Baumann and Marie Hoffmann both of New Ulm; and a brother-in-law, Albert Kral and his wife, Lorraine of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rose Baumann on April 7, 1996; a daughter, Ruth Baumann; sisters, Dorothy Harbitz and Shirley Kral; and by a brother, Henry Baumann.
Wilbert Anton Baumann was born on January 29, 1916 in Sigel Township, Brown County to Henry and Anna (Schmid) Baumann. On October 15, 1941, he married Rose Vetter at the St. George Catholic Church in West Newton Township, Nicollet County. After marriage, they farmed in Sigel Township for four years until moving to West Newton Township, Nicollet County. Farming until 1995, when they retired.
Wilbert spent his life farming by his wife's side and loved John Deeres. He took great pride in having good crops, enjoyed listening and dancing to old time music, and loved traveling. He found great joy in being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the St. John's Court #698 Catholic Order of Foresters and the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.

Walter P. Riebel, 85,of Sleepy Eye, MN died on Thursday, July 15, 2004 at Sleepy Eye Care Center.
Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home - Sleepy Eye on Sunday, July 18, 2004 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Monday from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM. There will be a parish prayer service at 6:30pm, Sunday at the funeral home.
Service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye on Monday, July 19, 2004 at 10:30 AM. The Clergy will be Fr. Brian Oestreich. Interment St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, MN. E-mail condolences may be sent to the family via www.sturmfh.com.
Walter was born on March 22, 1919 in New Ulm, MN, the son of Tobias & Anna (Koeck) Riebel. The family moved to Milford Township in the 1920's where Walter attended country school. He married Lillian Wensauer on August 29, 1980 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Walter worked for the railroad until his retirement in 1959. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and canning, old time music and joy riding.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Riebel of Sleepy Eye, stepchildren & their spouses; Diana & Robert "Chisey" Sellner of Sleepy Eye, Marjorie & Daryle Fischer of New Ulm, Charlene Holmquist & fiance, Dave Forsyth of St. James, Michael & Mary Wensauer of Sleepy Eye, 6 step grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; cousin, Laura Pitka of New Ulm and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Herbert, Albert and Herman.

Floyd A. Schultz, 87, of Fairfax died on Thursday, July 15, 2004, in Fairfax.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Luthermi Church in Fairfax, with burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Cairo Township, rural Fairfax.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at the Hauser-Hantge Chapel in Fairfax, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Floyd is survived by sisters, Lila Quast and Eleanor Weinzetl, both of Fairfax.
He was born on April 6, 1917 in rural Fairfax, to Alfred and Emma (Huebner) Schultz.

Marcella V. Wentzlaff. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2004 at First Presbyterian Church in St. Cloud for Marcella V. Wentzlaff, age 93, of Good Shepherd Community, who died Thursday at the nursing home in Sauk Rapids. Rev. Bill Yueill will officiate and burial will be in Benton Cemetery, Sauk Rapids.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Sunday at Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids and one hour prior to the services Monday at the church in St. Cloud. Sauk Rapids Senior Citizens will pray at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Marcella was born August 21, 1910 in Le Sueur County to A. Arthur and Lydia (Haenze) Baumann. She graduated from New Ulm High School in 1928 and worked as a secretary for Charles Korth Chiropractic until her marriage to Henry J. Wentzlaff on July 3, 1937 in New Ulm. The couple moved to St. Paul and then to Richmond where they owned Hank's Big Lake Resort for two years. They moved to Sauk Rapids in 1949 where she was a waitress at three different cafes for several years. She then was a secretary for the Sauk Rapids Elementary and Junior High Schools for 20 years, retiring in 1976. She made the news when she named Benton Drive in Sauk Rapids. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in St. Cloud where she was active in the Friendship Circle. She was also a member of the Sauk Rapids Senior Citizens. Marcella enjoyed quilting for her grandchildren and playing cards, and family was her number one priority.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Henry (Sharon) Wentzlaff of Carson City, NV, Elaine (Floyd) Fautsch of Sauk Rapids, Ralph (Lynn) Wentzlaff of Livingston, TX, Lloyd "Toby" Wentzlaff of Maple Lake; 10 grandchildren, Troy, Todd, Tim, Joy, Brian, Jennifer, Jill, Stacy, Trevor, and Judy; and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry "Hank" on December 3, 1954; brothers, Norman and Wesley Baumann.

Douglas Simning, 85, of rural Wabasso, died Thursday, July 15, 2004, in Redwood Falls.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 19, at New Avon United Methodist Church in New Avon Township near Redwood Falls with burial in the township cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday, July 18, at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls and at the church on Monday one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife, Nelda of rural Wabasso; son Gary of Saginaw; two grandsons; brother Darold of Burbank, Calif.; and sister Harriet Peterson of Taylors Falls.
He was born Jan. 23, 1919 in Vall Township in Redwood County, to Howard and Mary (Rucktaeschel) Simning.

Vernon Burghardi, 89, of Hermiston, Oregon, formerly of the New Ulm and Judson areas, died Thursday, July 15, 2004, in Hermiston.
Arrangements will be pending for several days, with Schmucker Funeral Service, New Ulm.

Michael "Dick" Kuelbs, 95, of the Countryside Apartments in Sleepy Eye died Friday, July 16, 2004 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 PM Monday, July 19, 2004 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye. Father Brian Oestreich will officiate. Full graveside military honors will be conducted at the Cemetery by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard. Visitation will be 1 - 2 PM Monday at the church. The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Michael was born January 8, 1909 in Home Township, Brown County, the son of Michael and Cora (Case) Kuelbs. He married Luella Seifert on June 9 1937 in Estherville, Iowa, making their home in Sleepy Eye. He worked at Del Monte in Sleepy Eye before being drafted in 1944. After completing his basic training in Northwood, Texas he was shipped to France with the 645th Tank Destroyers Battalion. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1946 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. Michael and Luella moved to Los Angeles, California in 1946 where he worked with his brother-in-law Ervin Seifert in construction. Later he was employed by Safeway Foods in Santa Fe Springs, California for 28 years as a maintenance man until his retirement. They moved back to Minnesota in 1982 settling in New Ulm. They moved to Countryside Apartments in Sleepy Eye in 1998.
Dick is survived by his wife, Luella of Sleepy Eye; brothers-in-law, Stanley Seifert and his wife Patt and Art Seifert and his wife Arlene, all of Sleepy Eye; sisters-in-law, Dolores Vickers of Gordonville, Texas; and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ed, Oren, Robert, Albert, Elmer "Pudge", Leo and Alvin Kuelbs; a sister, Mazzola; brothers-in-law, Harvey, Ervin, and Sylvester Seifert; and a sister-in-law, Violet Barsness.

Annabelle Malinda Smith, newborn infant daughter of Robb and Jayne Smith of rural Gibbon, was born on July 16, 2004 and joined the angels in heaven that same day.
Christian burial will be 4:00 p.m. Monday, July 19th, 2004 at the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery with Father Edward J. Ardolf celebrating. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, New Ulm, is handling the arrangements.
Annabelle is survived by her parents; sisters, Aubrie Smith, Amanda Tauer and her friend, Jason Havlik all of rural Gibbon; grandparents, Linda and Dennis Hull of Charles City, Iowa, Donald and Connie Richter of New Ulm, Linda and Craig Anderson of Courtland, and Chuck Smith of Lafayette; and by many aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by an infant sibling. Our rosebud never had time to open on earth. God chose her for HIS heavenly bouquet.

Margaret Schumacher, 91, of Redwood Falls, died on Friday, July 16, 2004 at the Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.
Services are Tuesday, July 20 at 2:00 p.m. from Nelson-MartIn Funeral Service, with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
She is survived by daughter, Sandra Whetston of Lake Lillian; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
She was born April 13,1913 in Wabasso, to George and Ione (Blake) Huling.

Hazel Barbara Hocking, 91, of 1411 10th South St., New Ulm, died Monday, July 19, 2004, at New Ulm Medical Center.
Services are 10 a.m., Wednesday, at Schmucker Funeral Service Chapel in New Ulm, with burial at a later date in Spring Valley, Ill.
Visitation is one-half hour before service at the funeral home.

Noreen Kraft of St. Paul, formerly of New Ulm, died Dec. 30, 2003, in St. Paul.
She and her husband Lloyd lived in New Ulm, where he was a Boy Scout executive.
She is survived by her children, Stephanie, Brian, Paul, Veronica, David, and Marie, and 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were held in Afton on Jan. 2, 2004.
